Thought I'd add to this rather start yet another thread. Browsing various social media outlets over the weekend and can note several things. One fan group on facebook has threaten to ban any poster who criticises the players or club, saying that with what happened there should be 100% support for the players and their heroicism for stepping on the ice. Any post that states otherwise the poster is villified for not being a 'true' fan and should stop going as 'the boys' are going through enough and dont deserve it. They refer to the players as 'her boys' or 'my boys' and that they seek them out on social media to offer support after each match. Is this the sort of supporter the club now has? Where they seem to think of them as their friend? Or is it the generational thing that cannot differenciate between casual contact and something more. How will they cope next season when most leave and go elsewhere and not give these fans another thought. Same on X (formerly twitter) people replying to posts on the same thing and stating they are activily looking for people who criticise the club so they can block them. Is the fan who goes now, not able to see that they are watching a professional sport and that the players are doing a job and not their friends / comfort blanket? That’s what it’s become I’m afraid, hockey certainly attracts an element of falseness between fans and players. If only these “real fans” knew what their new “bestie” likely really thought. Makes me laugh that the always non critical fan sees themselves as somehow different or superior to the critical fan. 🤣 Exactly this I know away from all the front of fan nights etc and the false vasade these fans think the players like them 🤣🤣.. oh dear if only they really knew .. It's crazy on X the amount of fans who think the players/club can do nowt wrong. what's the reason next year when the team perform crap with a new roster .. can't refer to the AJ tradegy can they

To be fair, irrespective of how much money is spent, you can’t sign around 15 new players, get a new coach and expect to be able to compete with settled, decent teams like Sheffield and Belfast.
Mid table with a core to build on is a reasonable target. We shouldn’t be where we are now. Irrespective of the tragedy, it’s not acceptable.
The narrow 1 goal losses are now widening. If it truly is that people are struggling mentally, it’s going to do them more long term harm to be put out there every week. It can’t be enjoyable to be thrashed every game, which let’s be honest, is happening. They need to do as Viktor did and make a fresh start elsewhere. That would be completely understandable and would think it would be in the interests of all concerned to let it happen.
Tough for the club to make that decision for them - PR wise, it would be disastrous. If Austin is going to sit on 4th line, I wonder if that’s one that could be culled. Early days, but brought in post AJ incident and doesn’t look like it’s working out.
Not sure what place JP is in, but no media, pre match team talks on the jumbotron seem to be given by his assistants. His pre match tunnel fist bumps seem to have dried up. Just seems invisible. I sit on the same side as the benches, so can’t see too much of what happens on our bench, but he seems to stand alone with Rick and Kevin stood together. Not sure exactly who is running things?
Dreading Saturday. Fully expect Sheffield to hit double figures. Perhaps it needs that to trigger some action?

The problem is the obsession with the idea that a small, fast skilled team will beat a big, strong North American style team. It won’t. This idea needs to be stamped out now for the season’s ahead and the people orchestrating it need to be replaced with some sort of reality. This season was done in October but the people sighning and trying to coach this type of team need to be stopped and replaced. I think the Panthers have a terrific bunch of players. A REAL team but they are never going to finish higher than Sheffield or Belfast no matter how many years they try and to keep getting beat week in and week out is not helping them at all.

One win in thirteen since Guildford and that was against the one team who, at the time was bottom of the table, now above us. One question I asked on a group and no one answered was, where, when you look at the fixtures, do you see the next win to come from? We are being outplayed, out-thought and outmuscled on every game. It had been mentioned that we lost by the odd goal and a different bounce and the result could have been different, but 1 goal or 5 goal difference, we still lost.
The midweek game on 6th March against Guildford is not on the season ticket?? Not school holidays so unless they set a low, low price then think that attendence would be appalling.

Dreading Saturday. Fully expect Sheffield to hit double figures. Perhaps it needs that to trigger some action? I think Farley has to go. The highest calibre player in the league has ended up being replaced by a player who offers nothing on the 4th line. He reminds me of Jon Rheault. A player whose CV suggests he was once a good player but evidently not anymore. The lights have gone out. The knock on effect is that now bottom 6 forwards are being put on top 6 which means we pretty toothless and the bottom 6 forwards just aren’t good enough. Farley brings nothing. Welsh and Anderson work hard but the quality just isn’t there. I like Henbrant and Lunsjo but they’re secondary scores being asked to be primary scorers and they are the two suffering the most at minute. Same with Michaud who is a good playmaker but he won’t get assists if there’s no one to put the puck in the net and all that leaves a big void on the top line. There are some good players on this team but the balance is completely wrong on forwards and defence. None of our defencemen are bad players but none of them can shoot. The Knock of that is that we hardly take shots from the blue line do the defence isn’t producing it’s share of goals and also take away chances for forwards to knock in rebounds. All of these things contribute to why we just don’t score enough goals and I think it’s just a few key changes that need to be made that can change this team from a losing team to a winning one

Farley was described on the O/S as “an elite playmaker” when they signed him. Pare was “going to bring grit, size, energy, physicality to the team and be a spark plug”. Just shows what a load of cobblers and spin they chuck out ! 🙄

The season before last which is not that long ago, he was 8th highest scorer in the Slovakian league which is higher level than the EIHL and had pretty similar PPG in the same season as Patrick Watling who I’d bet ending as top scorer in the league this season. So why is he not scoring at the same rate now?

Is he another one of these who they say has “signed for the rest of the season” ie. Got a clause which says they can’t get rid without paying him up for the year ? It’s certainly rather odd that he just sort of faded away for a while with barely a mention of any serious injury then came back and gets stuck on the 4th line.

When you’re crying out for goals and someone with a CV like that is available and fit, why else would they be getting splinters in their backside on the bench?

That said it’ll be hard for him to prove himself the way they are playing him at the moment.

My guess is somethings gone off internally. Although apart from one year in Slovakia his CV isn’t all that impressive.

Farley, Rheault, Suoranta, Hedberg I’m guessing a group of ‘preferred agents’ and they know they can have panthers pants down with players who are on a downward slip, or could be they’ll be the only ones willing to come to panthers. I’ve heard we don’t treat the players too well at panthers in comparison to other eihl teams.

No way have Sheffield spent the same as us this season I wouldn’t bank on it JD. Far be it from me to ever suggest for once Black has spent a few quid but there’s a fair bit more top league experience in Panthers roster than there is in Steelers. Panthers seem to have gone a bit of here there and everywhere for their players where as Steelers have just gone very solid with a lot of good looking ECHL players but with few if any cheap or poor looking signings. Steelers roster doesn’t strike me as being overly expensive.
