Typed this immediately following the 5-1 defeat away at the Dundee Stars.
Think it’s something like 1 win in about 13/14 now.
Question is: where do we go from here?
Do nothing and accept defeats for the rest of the season? If you do the same things over and over again, expect the same outcome.
If it’s to change, what / who would you change and why?
Thought it might be an idea to start a thread rather than clog a match day thread.
Thoughts?

Their record, for want of a better word, is definitely something that would normally lead to a change in either coaching staff or gassing players, yet the death of Johnson makes it a delicate one.

For this year, for the obvious reason, I'd probably not get rid of anyone who didn't want to go, but would look to bring in a couple of ringers like we used to when it had all gone pear shaped. Get into the playoffs and hope for an unlikely run to that title.

It would be right up Panthers alley to have some sort of post season charge, allowing for the usual propaganda to ooze from HQ.

To the original Question, Where do we go from here? logically we've got to only look up from here as we can't fall any deeper, but very sadly the darkness is here to stay and I do not have a clue right now.
In the past this whole organization has had me in tears of anger and frustration and the main source was and to be honest is still Neil Black. He is the one who dishes out the inadequate budgets for Omar to play with and to be honest the whole needs fresh teams to join. we don't deserve to be a mid table or worst team at best this season (so far).
However this season went so wrong after a very bright start I might add, that terrible night in Sheffield where I would NEVER wish on anyone, team or organization level in the entire world to go through but sadly it had to be the Panthers. Since that night its been nothing but utter darkness and what has happened since has been nothing short but a series of unfortunate events which nobody saw.
In seasons past we would have parted ways with the coach, CEO and players by now but I just feel this is not the season to do that (As Yotes said).
I just can't imagine what the players, coaches and medical team is going through mentally and physically. They must all be totally shot and still reeling from Adam's passing which every ONE of the REAL panther's fans are but I say this... This band of players, staff and organization will go down as a team that came back and stuck together which I for one will forever be proud of now and forever. My heart goes out to all the organization in which only real fans would understand and to all the FAKE free hand out tickets I say this and the trolls F off and find another sport to follow. The darkness will lift and when it does the Panthers will roar once more and I WILL be there waiting for that day. Panthers, then, now and Forever.

Other than the 2 Sheffield games, this was the 1st weekend games where we took a hammering over both games.
The others were full of effort but couldn't get the puck in the net on multiple occasions in the same game.
Might be a case of they just need a game where things go right and the shots go in.
According to the rumours section, there is someone coming in but who knows until it's officially announced.

I know that Neil Black is the issue Pidge and you are right. What I meant in my post I said the darkness will lift on this unforeseen season someday soon and I will be there when it does.

Everyone knows how indifferent all the clubs have been this season, and we did catch the Devils on a bad patch of form and I was there for the Flames home game and we played great but we had a full roster and rolling four settled lines which was great but missing players through injuries and suspensions now are really hurting us like we are now and we are exhausted but in any sport you do need some but heck its just ones opinion.

I personally would keep JP and OP. We need some consistency and it starts there.
Before the tragedy we had a noticeable style of play that was enjoyable and we battled our socks off. Maybe with some tinkering we could build something good, but that takes time, like sheffield this year.
This season is a write off and the sooner we move on the better, the first few games after returning we were getting our mojo back but as of late it's been depressing to watch.
Reset and regroup but with half a season to go it's a challenge

This season is a right off simple as that. I have zero intention of spending my hard earned cash on watching anything at the NIC in terms of panthers. Ample opportunity to fill some huge gaps due to injuries so the buck has to stop at the GM and NB. They could have turned this year into something special but they took the easy way out in terms of putting cash on the table to strengthen a depleted squad in so so many areas.
I am sure the attendances will remain fairly static but at some point people will begin to think its not worth the money and with the excess fees the NIC throw at you for a ticket its really not worth the money. In the end i hope it turns into that and we get a new owner. No one wants NB apart from Sage vendor.

Start well then implode and out of the title race with half a season still to go. It’s happened so often one could argue that it’s just normal service in Nottingham.

Honestly think we need to start pushing for black to sell up. Nothing will change why he is in charge.

Thought I'd add to this rather start yet another thread. Browsing various social media outlets over the weekend and can note several things. One fan group on facebook has threaten to ban any poster who criticises the players or club, saying that with what happened there should be 100% support for the players and their heroicism for stepping on the ice. Any post that states otherwise the poster is villified for not being a 'true' fan and should stop going as 'the boys' are going through enough and dont deserve it. They refer to the players as 'her boys' or 'my boys' and that they seek them out on social media to offer support after each match. Is this the sort of supporter the club now has? Where they seem to think of them as their friend? Or is it the generational thing that cannot differenciate between casual contact and something more. How will they cope next season when most leave and go elsewhere and not give these fans another thought. Same on X (formerly twitter) people replying to posts on the same thing and stating they are activily looking for people who criticise the club so they can block them.
Is the fan who goes now, not able to see that they are watching a professional sport and that the players are doing a job and not their friends / comfort blanket?

I think that’s the recent panthers to a tee and has been for a number of years. It’s a social thing for people (and I’m starting to think the club knows that too), not the view that it’s professional sport with the aim of winning.

Yes it’s definitely a Nottingham thing and it’s been going on for a few years now. They possibly have four cats at home and a tribute wall of players photos on a spare bedroom wall.

That’s what it’s become I’m afraid, hockey certainly attracts an element of falseness between fans and players. If only these “real fans” knew what their new “bestie” likely really thought. Makes me laugh that the always non critical fan sees themselves as somehow different or superior to the critical fan. 🤣
