We arw truely garbage. Again, not the players fault. Worst thing is we were somehow the better team until they scored the 1st. Then we just looked done. One thing Panthers did achieve, they saved the refs from being the worst team on the ice tonight. Some terrible calls and more significantly non calls. Not that it would have made any difference.

At least Richards prevented a shutout. All appears to be a bit of a shambles at the moment. I see Blacky was there to see it at least. Sitting there laughing to himself that he can put out that dog poo and still have a full house.

Poor squad signed by a management team focused solely on profit. Neil Black must be arrogant beyond belief to even show his face today. He should be ashamed.

Good to hear that NB had to endure the result and watch the inevitability of a cheap squad and bang average coach who I'm sure will become a scapegoat and take the flack. Takes everyone's focus off his money-making prioritisation over success. I called this in the summer and so it's been really easy taking the season off after all these years. Feel sorry for those whose blind loyalty meant that they didn't see it coming... It has been a fantastic season hasn't it Neil?? £££££££££

Embarrassing to see Panthers being physically bullied on our own ice tonight
Kelsall was no choiced and basically beaten up centre ice by Armstrong and nobody stepped up.
We definitely need a tough guy.

It's not about this season and sign this player and that; this season was over before it started. It's a cheap team playing at the National Ice Arena in front of big crowds. We have the money to buy the league but our owner has pure contempt for the fans and insults them by putting out a team that cannot beat Dundee! Either leave or give the fans a team that they can be proud of - you are killing the sport in Nottingham!

But even his role would also be more effective if there was some muscle to back him up

As long as the cash cow feeds him the money he and his overseas mates are fine. Success is not a priority.

I actually thought we played pretty well until the unfortunate first goal, after that the heads went down and we never looked like getting back into it.
It was nice to see some edge in the first period, actual fights and hits! Forgot what they were this season!
The longer it went with us missing chances it became evident our luck would run out and so it proved.
Effort but just not good enough in terms of quality.

This team has loads of effort most of the time

It’s been an emotional and disappointing day and I think this is reflected in a lot of the fan comments across all social media. Circumstance has not helped us at all over these two games.
The effort from the team is generally there, but there were times tonight when we looked a lot less fitter and a lot slower than Sheffield. We don’t have the speed, physicality or skill to compete for the title unfortunately. The IR cover was an opportunity for Doucet to bring in some players who could make an impact and improve the team but that’s been a failure.
Sheffield’s team tonight was better than ours, I don’t have a problem admitting that, losing two imports before these games hasn’t helped us but not replacing them was insanity. Of course we don’t know the circumstances of the departures but there are at least 3 imports who I believe are worse players and are having less of an impact than what Suoranta provided.
What a disappointing day.

Someone who has met him described him as pompous. The two go hand in hand. I've said it before, Neil Black has been putting cheap teams on the ice since the days when we played in the Ice Stadium, and back then he admitted it, with some half arsed excuse attached. Now he does it and stays silent because the fans turn up regardless....... It would be interesting to know how many of those fans are the same as walked into the arena for the first time twenty odd years ago however, but that fact won't bother Black one iota.

Ain't you one of those fans Mark? I said a few weeks ago Black is taking panthers back to the says when you brought them for a quid! If this arena was on the outskirts of the city it would be borderline empty and that includes the games over Xmas. No sports fans go to watch a losing team.. any sport anywhere if the teams don't perform fans don't go but the panthers is just seen as a night out for the majority these days . A few more years of dwindling attendances and black will start to get itchy fingers

So if fans want change ..... boycott a game? Even if it has a minor impact it isn't just apathy. On another note ( apologies if my tech knowledge is poor) why is this thread and the why do we accept failure thread half way down the main page even though they are the most active ones??

Boycotting just wouldn't work these days there isn't enough passionate fans still go and the ones that do go through habit as it's because 'what they've always done' If this was a football team they'd be protest's outside etc and blacks tenure would be on a knife edge.

One of the most glaring differences l noticed yesterday was that the movement of the teams. When the Panthers had the puck and passed to another the receiver was static, once they got the puck then they started to skate forward, whereas sheffield were moving with the puck the receiver was already going forward when they were passed it giving them a step over the defence.
Teams know how to play against us, and neutralise any threat; if being skilful doesn’t work, then get physical because there is no one who is able to stand up for the team.
Watching the game last night and the players try but they are not of the standard to compete. They will win games but haven’t got the ability to play to required standard throughout the season. Is this a team built on the cheap? Certainly looks like it, if so then the management / owner are betraying the club and the fans. If the budget was there then is the recruitment poor, is so the the fault lies with the DoH and the coach.
Whichever I think that support will wane, attendance will go down, revenue reduces so budget cuts and a downward spiral continues. A winner from that?, not the club, not the players or staff, certainly not the fans. The owner? Possibly can write ‘losses’ off to tax and will still own the franchise rights for hockey in Nottingham.

Didn't Neil Black state if attendances drop the budget will reduce accordingly? If so that's tantamount to blackmail.
