Makes sense because I’m reading more general mixing restrictions coming very soon. Yes it looks that way Well looking at the game schedule at top of EIHL webpage all Panthers games at end Dec/early Jan have now disappeared except v Steelers on 26-27th Dec so something’s gonna happen. Perhaps they’ll get the two cash cow games played on 26th/27th December and then shut it down. That would be very EIHL !

And now the 29th Dec v Manchester has appeared back on the schedule. Not sure what’s going on here !

If the number of daily Covid/omicron infections keep massively climbing on a daily basis you'll find 90% of imports heading home westwards before Canada and the USA shut their borders to all incoming flights from the UK.
That'll take care of the schedule.

Same reason people cut their holidays short in case they get stranded in another country if travel gets restricted.

If the powers to be in Westminster reduce arena/rink capacity to 50% half of EIHL clubs won't be able to survive to pay their players anyway, rosters are already at a minimum, lose more players to the gunge, keep cancelling games and it's curtains, if North American imports bail fearing their borders being closed that makes any further schedule untenable. Hearing about 100,000 infections a day and rising won't encourage them to stay.
Finding replacements is like finding hen's teeth, that's obvious.

That'll take care of the schedule. That won't happen unless the league gets cut short like the other year .borders won't be getting shut anyway. I didn't think Omicron was hospitalising many... After all that's what the vaccines were designed to prevent eh..

A lot of players throughout the league have had it lately, all reported as having mild symptoms similar to a cold, maybe due to being vaccinated. Number of people infected is undoubtedly up, I think we all know people who have tested positive lately. But looking at the governments own data on hospitalisations shows that this new variant hasn’t led to a huge increase over the last month. For comparison on 1st September, when the season roughly began, the number of covid patients in hospitals is nearly the same as it is now. On 20th Dec 2020 there were 20,000 people in hospital, the latest data shows there’s 7,700. This is all shown on: coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcarePeople have done as the government have advised, been vaccinated 3 times and followed the restrictions, all whilst the Gov themselves did what they wanted.

Exactly and that's my argument . If this enept government try it on with further restrictions in the coming days they can get ready

Infection not hospitalisation is pushing games down the road as more players test positive, it only makes sense if the Omicron variant is six times more contagious more games will get cancelled with the schedule continuing to get pushed further into January and February resulting in a compressed schedule with clubs end up playing three/four or more games a week with rosters already depleted from a season ago.
Other than immediate further restrictions to attempt to address the spread of infection what's the solution. Boosting another 22 million?

Well the other solution is that the whole country stops panicking and scaremongering about a variant that doesn’t seem particularly dangerous, lives with it and just gets on with life !

Nothing they do can stop the spread but when you get it it's mild and not severe.. (according to scientist's in South Africa)

It's all about the pressure on our hospitals, not the infection rate. The infection rate will be massive, there's no stopping this one passing around to many more people. What needs to happen is our government/The WHO declare this highly transmissible variant as a flu type of situation & as others have said we get on with our lives. We need a little more data for that to go ahead but the early signs in the boosted population are promising. If the above does occur then sports will very quickly get back on track. For now they are just following the rules, as they should. A circuit breaker for all sports right now would be a good idea, just for a few weeks whilst those in the know gather enough information & we all get our boosters.

Yup a circuit breaker on sports or huge gatherings is necessary and maybe revert pubs/restaurants to table service only . Anything more severe willnbe utterly ridiculous. Do we have lockdowns every winter? We were told to get both jabs + boosters and we are still being told what to do! Enough

In Wales Covid hospital admissions are at an average of 23 a day, down from 25 two weeks ago and at they’re at their lowest since 24th August. Number of people in critical care beds down at 33, lowest since 23rd August. Hospital numbers at their lowest level in 3 months. What is going on? www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-52380643.amp

By all accounts Drakeford is worse than Boris.... Which in itself is some achievement.

Maybe a lot of staff are isolating - I’ve heard from numerous people in different hospital trusts that the amount of staff having it is getting out of hand. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if this is why wales has done what it has
