I think Sturgeon will come down pretty heavy on crowds It's inevitable I'm afraid. Expect restrictions across the whole country by January. Let's see if this place will be in as much denial as last time...

Have to see what happens with hospitalisations I would assume? Isn't the early info from South Africa somewhat promising in that department? And we have a much higher rate of vaccination than they do.
We'll see. They've probably still got the cigarette packet with the contingency plans written on it somewhere at EIHL Towers.

So what exactly are the current rules ? The statement Steelers put out yesterday just said that... “All visitors will need a face mask when entering the arena” therefore there is confusion whether said mask must remain permanently on once in your seat. This has potential for trouble if they don’t make it clear.

This variant doesn't seem as health debilitating but it also seems far more transmissible. I'd expect the latter to cause a spike in hospitalizations by early/mid Jan which will be enough to look at crowd gatherings being kyboshed. The booster jabs are crucial, we're possibly too far behind on them though to help enough with the upcoming spikes.

Or does anybody else on here for that matter? I personally don’t and haven’t known anybody be hospitalised solely because of Covid since this began, which I find strange. I’m 26 and I’ve got my booster jab tomorrow. Hopefully everybody else takes the opportunity.

The other is out finally but they physically cannot ever work again by the look of it. Family wise no one, fortunately.

I agree that there'll be a spike coming, it's obviously well set over here and going round, hopefully it doesn't lead to an overwhelming spike for the NHS. Agree too that minor trivialities like the Elite League may be first to go, but hopefully if it does it would be more firebreak than season ending this time, and hopefully (this may be wishful thinking) they're ready for this possibility. Edit - I said hopefully a lot there, lol.

If that doesn’t prevent further limits on socialising then what can?

Had to rip up my invite to the government party this Christmas and I believe the limit is now under 10.000 attendees to avoid checks upon people. Or is that 500? I only ask as it's 10k then apparently nightclubs have to conform to testing before twirling your partner. There's never 10k in clubs surely? I'm always confused on this matter.

If crowds are either restricted or not allowed at all hopefully there is contingency to run behind closed doors for a short while...probably wishful thinking!

The rules for covid passports set by the government don't affect any English EIHL games because as you've pointed out, crowds aren't above 10k and don't have more than 500 standing. However both Panthers and Steelers Arenas have introduced them for EIHL games anyway. Seems reasonable as for many gigs they'd have to have these checks, so just roll them out for everything. EDIT: Sorry, completely misread that! Missed the joke entirely!

(as regards our hockey) I believe the limit is now under 10.000 attendees to (games)… My attempt to add some jovial content.

I'm hearing that all games now postponed until the new year? Makes sense because I’m reading more general mixing restrictions coming very soon.
