What’s the matter with Black his flagship is the Panthers, having one owner with two clubs sucks, we had it with Bob Phillips ( devils + steelers ) then with Paul Ragan again with ( devils + Steelers ) it never works and causes a lot of bad feeling. Great to see the Clan saved from liquidation but at a price to Panthers can’t be good.

Not sure I'm sure the d men have had a couple of fights in the past but I doubt it will have much baring anymore . Rather have speed and skill rather than a bunch of knuckle draggers

Do you have a tough guy, as many teams do things seem to getting a bit tougher in the league. Doherty is probably going to be our biggest deterrent but I don’t think he’s come here looking to fight, Tetlow’s not afraid to stand up for the team either, the problem is they’re both defence man. There’ll be more fights this season but I don’t think it’ll be like the late 2000’s again. Interestingly, Sheffield don’t seem to have anyone who has regularly fought. Ellerby is a big hitter but I don’t know how many career fights he’s had. No doubt their usual suspects will be up to their old tricks, hopefully they’ll come unstuck against Dundee’s and Glasgow’s tough guys.

Agree about knuckle draggers, but no one wants to see their team pushed around either, and the occasional fight still brings entertainment.

Great to see the Clan saved from liquidation but at a price to Panthers can’t be good. It’s a fiasco! He’s robbing a living but must be loosing half of it propping up the Clan. I’d love him to sell up and just have a single club owner. I actually think that with the fan base we have it could even be fan owned! Anyway I’ll get back on topic, or I’ll get wrapped on the knuckles… If we can stretch to having one import less than the Clan and sign two AHL/ KHL pedigree wingers then we will be competitive. If not I agree with the predictions thread and we are a 4th / 5th placed team who will entertain the cooing, part time, transient fans at home but offer no more for the hardcore lot.

No need for the hysteria.
Maybe they’ve signed but not announced. Maybe they thought they had player(s) who’ve pulled out. More likely they are waiting for particular players to finalise availability/get cut. All eventualities that have occurred previously.
Is there a cap on the number of mid-season changes this year? Hope so. If so (and even if not), it is even more important to get it right first time - marry in haste and repent at leisure and all that.

The days of teams getting bullied are long gone I reckon. It's about time this league thought about entertaining the crowd with good decent hockey not scripted centre ice pantomime nonsense .

There’s been no official statement about roster rules for 21/22, but, for the 20/21 season they stated ‘teams will be limited to a total of 18 import players in one season. An additional 19th import signing will be allowed if the change is related to a netminder.’ In regards to our remaining signings, there’s certainly some apprehension when you look and see the other title challengers have been sorted for a few weeks, plus the last two are expected to be big players for us. Also, at the Jersey reveal Gary was constantly reminding people that tickets were available for the pre-season games, which is understandable, but the best way to get people through the door is to have an exciting and complete team on show.

That's what I thought. They are hardly mentioning recruitment in articles etc which tell me either they are struggling to find someone or it's been complete a while . Just bizarre that the first game is less than a week and they seem so under prepared even for their standards!

It's either players who've been waiting all summer for the phone to ring still available or a Sam Herr clone who realised there was no further room upswing for him in the Ducks organisation. Top Elite league rosters across Europe are pretty much set so guys are going to have to set their sights lower for what they're offered, less money in lower level leagues, see Giants Griffin Reinhart and Steelers Daine Todd.
Beggers can't be choosers. Devils signed Craig Weller in mid November, his phone never rang all summer.

As much as we’re staring training camp Monday, it’s still a week earlier than most so I don’t want to be too panicked and 3 weeks until the first game of the regular season. It could all be work permit related and they want to get all paperwork sorted before announcing. But hey, who bloody knows with panthers! A little clarity would be nice.

Kankaanperä is clearly in his twilight years, but he wouldn't have played 30 games in the Liiga last year without having some fight left in the old dog. He's got buckets of experience in one of Europe's best leagues, with a fair few of those seasons in leadership roles and two trophies to show for it.
There are also plenty of videos online showing he clearly doesn't shy away from the rougher side of hockey, appears to be quite an effective agitator and could be quite the handful with Haas on the Stars blueline.
Overall, as a Stars fan, I'd be quite happy with this signing. Its not often lower budget EIHL teams like the Stars get an oportunity for such a player, at what we can assume is a reasonable price. They currently have a very young lineup so far and besides Dow, their previous on-ice leadership has moved on. Kankaanperä could prove an effective leader for the Stars, he was once clearly a very talented player, now its up to the Stars to get every last ounce of Hockey out of the guy.

You look at his detailed stats and he was playing an average of nearly 18 minutes a night (some nights well over 20) at the end of last season with a Liiga club. This guy knows what he's doing.

Experienced EIHL player, point a game in his last stint, point a game in the French league. Point a game in the Alps league. 2 goals in his only game in the CHL. He’ll score plenty of points in Fife, just like he did in Dundee.

You never know. It might work for Carter in Fife. I mean he hasn't got Lawrence to go to the pub with....😁
If Dutes thinks Carter is a leader as the press release states then he has a shock coming.... unlessCarter has changed of course....
