Im just fed up with 'The GMB is the main team sponsor of the Nottingham..........Panthers' then it goes into we're gonna win, that song was good until it got sponsored, its so cheesy it makes me cringe WE DAM WELL KNOW WHO SPONSORS US ITS ON THE FLIPPIN SHIRTS!!!!! if the GMB pulled their sponsorship for lack of mentions i think you'd all be singing a different tune! "why didn't we just mention them a few more times..... why oh why?" i'd rather them over mention the sponsors and keep their money than have no sponsors. end of the day...ignore it! pay attention to the game not the announcements, shout support over it...anything

watch out for the installation of micro speakers at the dome ..
"You are now entering the cassidy group male toilets"
"Thankyou for selecting three sheets of Tempino bowl centre loo roll"

Why oh why does someone always have to bring up faults in a game especially after it was a 10 - 1 score line, cant you moaners just leave off for one game! I'm sorry you chose to see my comments as a moan, they weren't meant to be. It was something the Capitals did well that impressed me in a game where otherwise we were all over them.

Exactly ,.. we (as a rink) are extremley nice to visiting fans and teams,,..no intimidation ,.no nastiness,. Erm, sorry, not all the time you don't. I used to spend a lot of time in Notts and attended a fair amount of games as a neutral and supporting my team and I have witnessed what you claim doesn't happen.

According to today's NEP, Panthers have signed a new netminder - RASTO RAVINE! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Now I know Rasto does occasionally dig a hole for himself when he tries his fancy dipsy-doodles behind the net, but I don't think he's ever dug one that deep!! ;D

The happy police get right on my nerves.
People have differing opinions to yours. GET OVER IT OR DON'T READ IT!
The usual suspects launching into overlong diatribes is a guaranteed response on here and is just as annoying as people moaning.
Nobody had a problem with the team, coach, or even Gary Moran last night. It was the ididotic playing of "We're gonna win." Doh, you think so?

So what makes you so right and others so wrong? "idiotic playing"? - in your opinion. I say it would have been idiotic if it had been played with 10 minutes to go or at the end of the second period - and we knew we were going to win then, didn't we? But right at the end of the game? - what's wrong with that? The only idiotic thing I can see about the playing of that song is people moaning about it. But then the 'moaning police' are even more self-righteous than those that they accuse of being the same....

good result, rubbish game. Caps are a great organisation. Right up to the top level. They do everything by the book and havent had anything to show. Players upping and leaving mid season etc. They arent a dirty team. It may not be the hockey I like to see but they play a fair clean game for the most part. Other teams, possibly bigger clubs, vocal about their woes and bleat on, cheap shot their way to the top have everything. (not just THAT club but a couple or 3, not mentioning any becuase thats not the debate) Same goes for Basingstoke. Caps are a team I truely wish all the best to... except when it comes to us ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

And my guess for first reply is correct.
Self-righteous, I'd say you wrote the book. One comment about a ten bob song and you drag everything Panthers into the argument.

Amidst the debate about the pros and cons of playing 'We're Gonna Win', I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the cheering of each pass as we put a few series of consecutive passes together. I didn't like that.
Capitals never gave up, never got chippy, and had a pretty high proportion of full face-mask (i.e. young) players doing their best in a difficult situation. That sort of derisive treatment can't have done much for their confidence.

The first period was a good, open game-but the caps never recovered from the bad start of the 2nd. Gallant looked good, even against a poor team. Could be a key to a playoff run. My final comment on the panthers, for a while at least(and it hurts to say this)- shmyr looked good on D. For my money, he is a better d-man than forward, and a better d-man than neilson. Hell, on sunday I clapped him(just once, before I realised who it was!) Anyway, Ta to all panthers fans for putting up with me for the last couple of years, and if the Vipers aint winning the playoffs(unlikely) I hope its you guys.

That sort of derisive treatment can't have done much for their confidence. My opinion on that is that i dont really care if it didnt do much for their confidence, they dont play for Panthers so it doesnt fuss me too much, may sound harsh i know but its the way i feel. Its a character building for them, they need to learn to play with getting derisive treatment its part of the game, if you cant take the heat get out the kitchen!

Why wouldn't we play the song? Afterall we do ti every game we win. I agree it could have been played sooner if the DJ really wanted to wind the away fans up.
But we all know that's why it was played, it was to do with sponsorship. That certainly isn't an 'idiotic' reason, if I have ever heard one.
So what if people cheered when the puck was passed around. It was about the only fun people had all night as the atmosphere wasn't great. Again, I don't see how it was aimed at anyone to be nasty. It's done in football, why not hockey. It's just the same as chanting your teams name in my book, or cheering when a player makes a good play. Nothing sinister there either.
I don't think the Edinburgh fans wouldn't have been upset last night by anything other than the players who have left them high and dry or whatever reason left them short benched. As that was the only difference between them last night and when they came here last time.
I really can't see why people got upset by ANY of last night's behaviour. Good sports all round, I really hope Edinburgh keep chuggin away though. I think they stand for a lot of good in todays game and they would be sorely missed if we didn't play them.

..........But we all know that's why it was played, it was to do with sponsorship. I read the post and for the life of me, couldn't understand why it was to do with sponsorship! I then went back through the thread, and saw the post saying there is a mention of the GMB just before it is played. So sadly the sponsor link was lost on me - I just thought we played it when 'We're gonna win'.I guess I only hear what I want to hear! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

As for playing "We're gonna Win" Never have liked it at the Hockey purely as Bryan Adams wrote it for Chelsea FC (Check the liner notes for 18 till I Die) so I would have preferred not to hear it full stop.
For the "ole" hockey, Well dictionary.com has this for "ole"
Our Power play over the last few years has been labelled by a few as "Pretty Passing". It could be deemed as sarcastic to our own team (if you want to over analyse it) So IMO I find it ironic to cheer the passes. But is it wrong to do it? Definitely not.

I have always managed to ignore the Chelsea link cos I like the song. Would have been different if it had been Man Utd or Arsenal. Play the song in the car when I take Sam to his football matches, it gets the adrenalin going!

Wasn't at the game on Sunday so can't comment on those events specifically but when it comes to playing "We're Gonna Win", I do find it a bit of a mickey take playing it when we are in the clear with a few minutes left. And starting it over with the "The GMB is the main team sponsor..." bit in every single stoppage of play makes me cringe.
In the old stadium, it used to be played before the game as a "pump up" song, which was much better and I presume what Mr Adams had in mind when he wrote it - but of course back then we had confidence that there we would actually pick up the majority of points at home.
I don't have a problem with cheering goals and/or passes - that is something that happens in most sports. As long as the opposition's fans are not abused and/or belittled directly and are given a round of applause for their efforts at the end then it's fine. God knows, we have had precious little opportunity for an "Ole chorus" in recent seasons.

I was one of the Caps fans at that game on Sunday night and for me it was painful to watch so I cannot imagine how the guys were feeling out on the ice. After the game they were all very down and dissapointed and we even had some of them apologising to us for that result. We were down to 4 imports after we lost Patrik Luza halfway through the 2nd period with a hand injury so the pressure was really on and we just battled hard and to be honest I don't know how they managed to keep going. Thanks for all the nice comments about us guys it is appreciated. Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope to see a few of you in Edinburgh on 25th March and fingers crossed we don't have a repeat of Sunday night. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Our Power play over the last few years has been labelled by a few as Pretty Passing I would say our PP over the last few years has been something altogther more alliterative and uncomplimentary. That said, who has the most PPG in the league this season? Not us, but we are 3rd, in both total PPG and % of total goals scored on the PP. FWIW, we're also 3rd in GF, GA and GD. Not bad for a 5th placed team.
