At the minute, Blaze are second from bottom. When did that ever happen? Dip your bread in Panthers

Mmmm, this is not the game we need next.
Two big games in front of massive crowds and good wins against Sheffield, followed by a Coventry team in very very poor form who we should roll over comfortably. Can anybody guess what "might" be coming next ?
I do hope we aren't going to blow all the hard work of the last two days !

Too many 'after the lord mayors show' performances/results already this season. Hope I'm wrong though and would love to see us finish this year in style.

It's been a while since we've had our traditional 'host the Coventry Blaze and stuff 10 past them' splurge... not forgetting the equally-traditional spitting-of-the-dummy by the Blaze netminder. Can we have this on Wednesday, please? No quarter, no let-up... war to the knife and the knife to the hilt. I want to see us crush them.

I can see you scoring 6 or 7 against this blaze team, without doubt the worst blaze side in elite league era,I wonder if weber has sleepless nights coaching this train wreck of a side, the blaze organisation have only themselves to blame for the dire mess this club has now become the laughing stock of the entire league, getting our asses handed to us game in game out,the only shinig light this year has been Brian stewart, game in game out does his best to give us a chance of winning but gets let down by the total dross I front of him.Oh to have a team like they've got down in cardiff, size, speed, people who can actually put the puck in the net.

Don't see us scoring a bundle, we're not a high scoring side, Blaze are losing at the moment but not by big margins, can see maybe a 3-2, 3-1 scoreline in our favour.

Even though we won our last two, the last match the better team lost and I was not impressed with our performance at all.. I think this will be really close and could go either way. We certainly won't be scoring 6-7 as we don't have a team who can put that much rubber away, unless the opposition netminder has a howler.
Praying for some changes in the New Year, to finally make this team click and place us on a competitive footing with the rest of the top 5, especially Cardiff and Sheffield, who on current form I suspect will finish 1st and 2nd.

I think this game depends on our defence. When they work their butts off like this weekend and clear Modigs rebounds, check and attack when needed they are (in my eyes) one of the best defences in the league. But the weekend before vs Fife and Cardiff they really didn't help Modig out that much. If we can defend and keep them out, I trust Lawrence and Graham to grab a few goals. Hopefully 3 goals in the last 2 games kick starts Lawrence into a goal scoring run!

Apart from the aforementioned tonking of the Blaze (and, for the entertainment factor, the Blaze goalie spitting his dummy out again - it's traditional! ) what I'd really like to see is the young British prospects getting on the ice. None of them - Ollie Betteridge, Jordan Cownie, Lewis Hook, Tom Norton - have EPL games on Wednesday (nor for a few days either side) so at least some of them would hopefully be available. It would be nice to have a longer bench than the opposition, seems like ages since that happened! A high-tempo game rotating 3-4 lines, wearing down the Blaze (and hopefully taking ruthless advantage of each and every opening)... that would be a good way to end 2014.

The key to beating Coventry is to get at Stewart ASAP. Get in his head. Niggle at him at every opportunity.
They are a team low on confidence and missing a bunch of players through injury.
As Iginla said, let's hope the hard work done over the weekend isn't stuffed up.

Stewart must wonder what he's done to upset everyone in this league, he's getting stick everywhere. There's a discussion on the Inferno about the abuse he received from the Devils fans and whether it was a bit over the top or not. If I were him I'd take it as a compliment, for me he's head and shoulders above the rest of the Blaze players and God knows how many goals they'd have shipped without him.

Never good to hear of a player having a serious injury or illness no matter who they play for, especially at this time of year - wish him well and hope the situation is not as serious as it sounds

Blaze have a few injuries, lost their last 2 games whereas we have won our last 2. Fustration and lack of confidence is likely to be present in the Blaze roster so we need to go in and play a physical, gritty game to try and rattle them.. especially Stewart. Stewart is undoubtedly their best player and a goalie i'm sure every team would like to have, we know he doesn't get too much protection and is quite easily agrevated, we need to get under his skin. Should be a good game, if previous games with Blaze are anything to go on.. Hopefully we will end 2014 on a 3 game winstreak and head into the new year with high spirits and high confidence.

My only concern is when the team who is out of form comes to the NIC, they've picked up the points... (Dundee, Fife, Hull). Please don't let it happen again panthers!

Looking forward to this game but a bit nervous - it's all set up for Blaze to take the chance to get themselves out of a rut and spoil our excellent Christmas period.
I missed the game against Coventry with all the Stewart shenanigans so I'm hoping for more of that kind of entertainment this afternoon. If we keep it tight and work hard for 60 minutes, it's a game we should have enough to win but the season so far has taught us that you never know with this Panthers roster.
We need a good start, and Jacina, Benedict & Mosey's forechecking could help us get amongst the Blaze early on. Will be looking for more threat and involvement from Higgins and a return to his post-injury form for Parent, as they are the two import forwards I feel are making least contribution right now (fair play to the much criticised Lawrence; he has upped his game and he's the only player putting regular goals on the board right now).

That's 3 home games on the trot where we haven't scored.* Really have to sort out the 'car legs'. *Edit - haven't scored in the first period.

Do you mean haven't scored first? Serious question, as I'm a bit confused by your post.

What do the Blaze put in the Net minders drink? They all like to a paddy in at least one of their games against the Panthers.

Winning goal just about summed the game up - scruffy, untidy, messy! Still, it's 2 pts.
Is Lee injured? He was dreadful.
