Being back to full strength (well, as close as we're going to get to now) will have helped, but still, didn't give them a hope of a result like that. Well done them. Nice little double up tomorrow will do nicely

We lost graham to injury in the second. Gutsy defensive display tonight. Jacina seemed to invigorate the team.

Fantastic result! The team showed they have the minerals to win. Now time for the management to sort out 2/3 more quality player in to lighten the load.

I never saw why folk criticised Jacina earlier this year, I've liked him since he signed last season, guy has some serious wheels. Of course, every player in this league has faults, if they didn't then they'd all be playing at a higher level. But for what he brings with his strengths I think he's one of the best at our level

Didn't see that result coming! Had resigned myself to a painful loss... but to shut them out on their own ice... that's nice :-) Of course, this means they're likely to be out for blood tomorrow, but hey ho - take it as it comes. Once again, this Panthers team have proven that they CAN do it, that they do have what it takes... now we just need to see them bring that to the table consistently. Bit worrying if Graham is out injured, hopefully it's just a minor knock and he'll be in the lineup tomorrow.
Well done, Panthers.

Great team performance. Once we got the goal we never looked like losing. Jacina was awesome tonight. Not all fancy forward stuff. His 2 way play was exceptional. Threw the body early on in particular & made some fantastic defensive plays to break up sheffield attacks. Thought Berube was gonna kill Dowd when he got out the box. Asumed he was so annoyed at being hit when down on the ice but could have been because of the initial slash on Modig.
Huge effort by all. Well Done Guys.

This was a night to remember, a night when we were all Proud to be a Panther, I never saw it coming either and neither did the Steelers Keep the faith everyone, this team can raise it, can play like the team we all want them to be, to be the best, I just hope the same team turns up tomorrow as played tonight. P.S. Simmsey was spitting feathers afterwards

Hope everyone get back home safely - weather is atrocious. Fantastic game Steelers + the Steeldogs reject never really looked in the game and a good win for us - hope that Bruce's injury is not too bad - surprised their number 71 was not done for diving, but then again it was Darnell in charge - can some one please destroy Dowd tomorrow as well - please keep up the effort now you have again proved that you CAN do it

A great win, a shutout and non of the 'we need changes'/'we are awful' 'fans' seem to be commenting! Christmas came late this year!

Five hours to get back. Some amazingly dangerous and inconsiderate driving showcased tonight. Many thanks to the Steelers fans who were helping cars that were getting stuck on some of the roads.
Worth it all though, to witness that.

That's because Panthers put together an excellent game this evening. Much of the previous criticism was deserved after some atrocious home performances. Gloating does you no favours.

Well said, great post! I have been quite vocal following some of the dire performances of late and expected the worse, but I was delighted to see them pull the win out of the bag and credit where credit is due. Would be great to get a repeat performance tomorrow night.

Excellent performance tonight. Especially from Modig and the D who cleared every loose puck around our net.
This team will not win games with pure skill, they have to work super hard to beat the better teams, when they work super hard, hit and forecheck like they did tonight they are a decent team, when they don't though they can be awful. Tonight they were great and the best team won, more tomorrow please.
And yes, please can somebody batter Dowd, the annoying little rat !

Superb performance tonight. Defensively as good as ive seen for some time. They were all very alert to the loose pucks. The Hunger seemed there. It's pretty cool silencing over 8,000 fans too and for Modig getting the shut out. Hopefully Grahams injury ain't to bad. Onlu negative tonight was face off winning was as bad as ever.

A word about Betteridge, looks a good player in the making. Bruce took a puck on the heel cant see him playing.

Funny how we all see games differently.
I thought your team worked incredibly hard and deserved the win but 4-0 was a very flattering scoreline imo. We didn't turn up (yet again) for a big home crowd. We never had a decent bounce of the puck all night and the attempted one timer from Forney when he ended up on his backside just summed up the evening from us.
Modig was solid if very uncomfortable handling the puck behind his goal.
Hard work and effort won you that game, something you should be proud of, we lacked it in bucket loads. Just one thing though, even though it was a great win for you guy's and you scored 4 goals I thought you looked distinctly average, certainly one of the poorer Panthers teams I've seen in a while. Makes it even more galling that you tickled our bellies again.
See what tonight brings....could get yourselves on a roll.

As regards face offs, I remember last week against Fife my mate and I commented that we couldn't recall us 'losing' a face off, result we lost the game. Last night you say we hardly 'won' a face off, result we won the game, so the question is how important is it to win face offs?

I'd say that it's massively important... you can't build plays or score if you don't have the puck, and winning face-offs gets you the puck. Lose a face-off, and you immediately cede the initiative to the opposition. Not sure what game you were watching against Fife, but we've been losing face-offs consistently in all of the home games for weeks now - the Fife game included. It appears to be one of our biggest weaknesses.

See what tonight brings....could get yourselves on a roll. If we looked average then the Steelers looked utter crap. Too many individual players on agendas with a few of our players and you never looked a team at all until the start of the 3rd and by that point desperation had set in and the loose puck during the 6 on 4 stuck the fork in good and proper. If GA thinks that was ok he must have been Simms in disguise. Pretty sure a few of your players had the hairdrier treatment after the game to be honest. I'm sure that it will be a very different game today.

4 1/2 hours to get home but a shutout in Sheffield was worth it. Wouldn't say it was a brilliant performance and was still worried at 10 minutes to go , then when there was 5 min to go began to feel confident and at 2 minutes to go I could relax. The 4 th was the icing on the cake. Played better as a team hope we've turned the corner.

If your friend told you that he should have gone to Specsavers to be honest. We won more 50/50 prizes up there than face offs.

It's funny how we've lost to fife and Hull at home to heavy scores when they've been the underdog and won by using sheer hardwork and commitment and being the better team then when we go away and are the underdog, we are the better team, work hard, take a knock to a big player and still battle on and embarrass 8,000 fans. Skilled players only bring you so much. I know for a fact teams of players can't play as hard as we did for 60 minutes 52 times a season but if they did it often enough we could get on a good run. Great to see Jacina, Higgins, Lawrence and Lee on the scoreboard too. Jacina thoroughly deserved his goal. And Lawrence made some beautiful chances for himself during the game.

Sounds like the complete opposite (as I wasn't there) to previous games. Good that it can be done.Great. One I'd like to have been at but games are very few and far between with dosh these days anyway.Glad you all got to see this.Makes last night and this morning feel much better....whilst you all were struggling back I celebrated outside videoing the dog playing in the snow.Hope you are all playing in the snow coming out of tonight's game too after another win taking us 6 points adrift of the top spot..
