So we have one last player to sign. We know that he'll be a import D man, almost guaranteed he'll be big and stay at home type. Official site says he'll be announced sooner rather than later, so thats probably in the next week. Anyone any info of to whom it may be? Or guesses for that matter?? My guess would be Matt MacDonald, purely a guess nothing else behind it.

Good player, would love to see him in a Panthers jersey but takes too many pens to be the guy to fill that final slot for me - not to mention he's probably out of our reach given he's a seasoned AHL level pro. We need one of him who doesn't spend 5 mins a game in the box.

Evans looks like the template of the guy i'd want, not sure we'll get him, but should be targeting someone similar.

Oh yeah, Still think we lack a touch of toughness at the back, I'd like the last Dman to clear the crease and give someone a slap when required and sometimes for fun. McNeil would be Ideal.

My guess is Corey Neilson for the final spot.
He's so good he'll sign himself twice...
Joking aside, it will be Dominic D'Amour.

Patrick McNeil. Not so much stay at home but good player for sure and is out of contract this year.

Toughness is one thing... but we simply can't afford to have our last D-man - the stay-at-home stalwart that we so desperately need - to be taking a lot of PIMs. It would defeat the whole object of the exercise. I don't give a damn if he doesn't score a single goal all season... or if he only gets a handful of assists. Just as long as his ice-time minutes are high, his penalty minutes are low, and his +/- (whether us fans ever find out what it is or not) is strongly positive. Checking opposing players so hard we can see the tweeting birds circling their heads would be a very nice bonus... but I could even live without that as long as he just does the basic job of defending, and does it well.

My only q would be does he take too many pens? I see what you mean but then that depends on what sort of player your after. If we want our last d-man to be a big checker, clear the crease and wipe out any player that gets in KSP's face then unfortunately he is going to take a few penalties. Now that's definitely the sort of player I want and to be honest his PIMS aren't that high, similar to Neilson's if I remember correctly.

Yep very similar to Neilson's if you compare last seasons PIMs. Agree with what you say though, I guess I have a bit of an unrealistic view of a tough as nails D-man that exercises that toughness without taking many PIMs, even if that were possible (which i'm not sure it is) it would be very difficult with Carson and friends officiating! It comes down to awareness and understanding of roles on the ice. If he could keep the PIMs per game at an average of 2 or under you'd be happy I guess. Good shout though BA, would be a good signing. Noted he was at Hershey last season, would love to see a game there, have wanted to go for a good while.

Just checked elite prospects... and theres a D man called Jamie Fraser going to unknown club, would be a perfect fit for our hockey club i think, has good size and pedigree.

That would be some signing, but would be amazed if he came to the UK, direct from the AHL, and not just a quick stint either, he has several solid years at that level. Would love to see it happen, but would say the chance is slim to none.
