IMHO Tessier was by far the best player in the league last year. Even though he wore a teal shirt you just had to admire his efforts. If, by going to Germany, he is doing his best for his family then I wish him well.

They all work on mine. Still tingling from last night although I was a nervous wreck. Mind we are the Panthers. Why do it the easy way eh

Well they certainly know how to put us through it dont they?. Hated every gut wrenching minute of the game to be fair. We didnt hit anywhere the heights as last night. Some reasonable performances and some less so. Steelers played really well and Trevor only flitted in and out of the game. When it went 3-1 I could see only one winner but we dug in and held on. Rasto came up big with the penalties ( Sutters demeanour prior to taking it said he didnt fancy it) and we all went wild.
A not particularly good but nonetheless edge of the seat gripping game.
A special word for the referee. Nigel Boniface has had some stick over the weekend much of it deserved. Tonight he got just about every major decision right and in the latter stages let the game flow. Well done Nigel !!!

From the Steelers website. Coach David Matsos has confirmed that there isn't any problem between Paul Moran and himself, listeners to Radio Sheffields Steeler Hockey had asked if there was a problem as Moran did not ice for the team in Tuesdays Cup Final
Matsos though denied any rift "nothing could be further from the truth" he told listeners "Paul has done well for us and I like having him on our team, it was just a hocket decision on Tuesday that I played other players
"I spoke with Paul today and he understood, there is no problem between us and Paul will play a part in our Play Off battles with Nottingham for sure"
Is this the beginning of the end for our Paul ?

Gazza The league need the Devils, the other teams including us need them too. I would like to think that I am right in saying that hockey lovers throughout the country wish them well for the future

My wife and I's first visit to block 14 (usually in 17) and we really enjoyed a cracking game. It was a pity the home fans didnt have chance to applaud our team off the ice at the end but we know why that was. Darby lost it completely with his attack on Ryan. Funny thing was Ryan laughed at him at every punch goading him to do better. Then he reached across and poked Darby as if an impudent kid. The fans all around block 14 were shouting 'Losers' and sadly Mr Simms was totally out of order. His effing and blinding with fists clenched told everything about that guys character. Following behind was the 'Captain' Mr Phillips, his face contorted with fury. He suddenly lunged upwards with his stick at a guy nearby but only succeeded in narrowly missing my wifes head. Both incidents were immediately pointed out to a linesman (23) some 2/3 yards away who was watching. He laughed it off. The guy with the young child reported the Simms incident to a showsec guy who at best could be described as being 'remote'. Pity it had to finish in that manner. Round two later today and my stomachs a churning.

Well Im bricking myself over this. So many IFS and BUTS. If Rasto has a great game, if we keep Tessier relatively quiet, if Jody decides to go walkabouts, if Macca is on top of his game then I will be quietly confident. BUT if we turn up as per the last few games, going through the motions, no passion, no pride then we will be dispatched to join the also rans.

With Hull having nothing to play for Im going for a convincing performance by the Panthers and maybe just maybe their first goal at home to the Stingrays. 4 -2 Panthers

For what it's worth, although none of the players from the Sheffield/Nottingham squads have come through our own junior development systems, I believe that our two cities now have the best junior set-up in the country....That's something we should both be proud of and will serve us well in the future. Good luck to all the players selected whichever club they're from.....They're representing our nation. Regards Doom Spoken like a gentleman Doom

Thought we were so poor defensively last night. Is Jan fully fit ?. CC looked like having one of those games and it didnt bode well when Bison scored with virtually their first chance. The second was much the same with Bison looking dangerous on the counter. Gallant seems top be several seconds in front of the rest of our guys. Again we blustered. Meanwhile Carson was having his usual nightmare. I agreed with most of his decisions but it was the ones he turned a blind eye to that stood out.
The third looked like following in the same vein until Clarkie, who up until then was completely anonymous, scored a sublime short handed goal. The guys woke up, the crowd woke up and from then there was to be only one winner.
Final note - The steelers players watching will have slept soundly in their beds last night. There wasnt a lot that would have unduly worried them. However we can play better !!

Playing the devils advocate - What if Bracknell join the Elite League next year. Mike Ellis I understand is part owner of the Bees. Would there be a conflict of interests as coach of the Panthers playing against them ?

I have no idea how they get much income in Edinburgh - very small fanbase. Perhaps they can't even afford to pay anyone to come in Interesting that Coventry have announced their season ticket pricing for 2007/2008, and it is for 24 games. Could there only be 9 teams next season? By chance I was chatting to a Bracknell Bees fan. She was saying that they are considering re joining Elite. Only a fans view though.

It 'should' be one of the few really testing games that we have to play before the play offs. The Giants have hit some form at a great time for them. Not sure who is or isnt yet available for us but I also would take a point.

as i said when "our paul" left i doubt he would fit in other than a bit player and i still suspect he will be looking for another job come the end of the season. As for imports well whos really surprised??.... So true. The steelers have a thread 'Thoughts (or Thaughts) for next season' and our Paul doesnt figure very highly on many fans wish list. Lets hope Mr Matsos rates him higher.

Very poor first period with both teams unable to pass to a colleague. Wooly looked unsure but managed to keep a clean sheet. Second period became a bit of a Trevor Gallant masterclass with him pulling the strings and Murphy in the Caps goal being shell shocked. Third period was a breeze with the Caps players wanting to here the final buzzer. You would expect to be excited what with the scoreline but strangely no. A pat on the back for the few Caps fans who made the journey.

Cannot wait to see Gallant. If he's anywhere near as useful as he was with the Storm we have picked a'good un'. 4-1 Panthers

I find it alarming that we concede two goals within two minutes first period and then two goals within 20 seconds of third. Is that a concentration problem?
