I too would be surprised but maybe the lure of a nice shiny rink, maybe a an assistant coach role might tempt him. 🤣🤣 There's nothing nice and shiny about the NIC these days.. maybe back in 2005 though Compared to Altrincham it’s definitely nice and shiny!

True but not really comparable players. For a player with Hedbergs CV his points output is absolute pants. Even Suoranta was producing more than him ! Yes, it really hasn't clicked for him at all yet. We need a lot more from him, he was involved in a few goal mouth scrambles yesterday in the 2nd period, neither him or his line mates could force the puck over the line. He skates and carries the puck well, hopefully he can find his scoring touch.

The 2nd assist he’s been given from the game in Cardiff isn’t warranted, he didn’t touch the puck on Matheson’s goal. The points recording is an absolute shambles this season for us. Hedberg has played 12 games and has provided 1 assist. Agreed, second assist ought to be Norrish, I'd say. Agreed, there have been some howlers in terms of stats. They tend to get put right on review, though. Looking at that goal, Norrish shot the puck, I believe it defected off Ollie to the corner, Lane picked it up and gave it to Matheson, who then scored. Hedberg certainly not involved though. I recall our game on NYE, where Baillargeon was awarded a goal that he shouldn’t have been, the league eventually corrected that game sheet, but they’ve failed to alter the individual players stats. It’s poor.

Does that mean Hopkins is now level on points with Hedberg then ! 🤣 No Iggy, do keep up. Hedberg has 2 assists. The 2nd assist he’s been given from the game in Cardiff isn’t warranted, he didn’t touch the puck on Matheson’s goal. The points recording is an absolute shambles this season for us. If we are looking to replace Matheson next season, we could do worse than Ehrhardt. He's a solid dman, good on pp and pk, and logs plenty of minutes. Not very quick IMO, Altrincham suits him perfectly.

A nice win against Storm, then normal service will be resumed soon looking at the fixture list. I don’t think it’ll be a nice victory (if we do manage to get one) against the Storm. It all hinges on whether we can get a lead early but the physicality will be up a level compared to the Cardiff game and I expect Storm will sit off and ask us to break them down. Having only played Blaze once those season they’re a bit of an unknown, but the following three, Belfast, Belfast (cup), Sheffield, that’s going to be tough.

Game could be in doubt, as Blaze have a number of players in Covid protocol. Game with Flames postponed tomorrow. From the Blaze website: The Blaze made an official request for the game to be postponed, which was accepted by the Elite League based on a new positive COVID case, but more so due to several players becoming ill due to a non-COVID bug. With COVID, illness and injury to players, it was agreed that the Blaze are not in a position to be able to fulfil the fixture on Wednesday and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused. www.coventryblaze.co.uk/2022/02/15/flames-game-postponed-on-wednesday/So they’ve been struggling with illness in the squad and it sounds like that is the biggest issue and now having a single Covid case see’s them way to short maybe? If players can recover from illness the match should go ahead.

Looking like a bit of an inspired appointment at the moment. The polar opposite of Lee and I don’t think he stopped working all game He looked like he was involved in the game, very animated and seemed to be pumping the boys up. Hopefully we see some real improvement now.

Devils upped the physicality in the 2nd and that was it, game over. Absolutely fed up.

Well to bring in whistle was lazy... To then bring back Neilson would be bone idle! Who would you like to see brought in Pidge?

We’re currently on course for our worst points percentage in any EIHL season. Shambolic. I remember Mike Ellis talking .500 hockey, which is where we are again now I see. Out of interest, how many seasons have we been .700 or better? 3 occasions, 08/09 - 0.722, 11/12 - 0.741, and, of course, 12/13 - 0.817

Manchester isn’t an easy place to go but we are just lacking in so many areas, it’s a real struggle to enjoy watching any game we’re involved in.
Just to depress myself a little bit more I thought I’d have a look and see where our current points percentage ranks amongst all of our seasons in the EIHL. We’re currently on course for our worst points percentage in any EIHL season. I know there’s a lot of hockey left to play but I don’t see it improving with the team we have.
I know we’ve had poor teams before and we’ve been let down previously in the league, but there’s always been some hope that we might have some success in the cup or playoffs. I don’t think ours fans even have that to cling to this season.

It’s no worse than what Lawrence did against us last Sunday and he hasn’t been banned, I reckon 5+game is sufficient. Possibly but this is Dops so you never know. Hopefully some consistency is shown.

2-3 Storm, another massive deflection off a Panthers player in front.

Get ready for them to absolutely demolish us on Sunday now😂
I don’t know but it’s a strange one. The atmosphere for the Cardiff games is always good, they bring a lot of away fans, our fans in turn make it loud, maybe it gets our lads going. I think Cardiff like to dictate the play and this also works in our favour, makes the games more open. If you look at a team like Glasgow this season who have come to the NIC three times, played physical, let us have the majority of the puck, focused on team defence and keeping us to the outside, they’ve won all three games.
If Cardiff play in the same way as Glasgow, they’ll take the win. They’ve got that little bit of extra quality that will allow to play this way and still be a big threat offensively.

Straight back down to earth...thump! Hedley ships 7 against the Giants If there's one team you don't want to be down on bodies to, it's the Giants. The words "lamb" and "slaughter" spring to mind. Blaze iced 9 "imports", 16 skaters. Even Panthers have always managed to ice at least 11 imports this season. Wow, I didn’t realise they were that short. I imagine that was a tough one for the Blaze fans to take.

Stevie Lee doesn’t need rehab allegedly he’s finished all together, wont play again. No idea why they don’t come out and tell us. This was supposed to be a secret but it was bound to get out eventually. You have some good player contacts there EMB, as we both know very well... Let's not tell everyone about his coaching role with Panthers next season, that would be too much. The personal aspect of the injury doesn’t need to be divulged to the fans but if he’s not going to play again this season, why keep it a secret? Honesty is the best policy.

IIHF international transfer deadline is February 15th. Don't think we'll need to worry about that... Agreed, no chance we pick up anymore players now, Doucet must be hoping the return of Domingue will get us firing.

When is Hedberg going to arrive in Nottingham. ONE assist so far is extremely poor. It’s pretty evident now he’s not a natural goal scorer, a solid 3rd line player really. Boivin and Welsh are in desperate need of a right hander (Domingue) to bring some balance to their line.

When in overtime the loud block starts chanting 'we are the Panthers, the mighty mighty Panthers...." against a team that's bottom of the league by some margin, a team that was playing a brit forward on D,a team we only score one goal against & eventually lose to. If that's not the definition of delusional I don't know what is. Not even Dave Whistle at his best could help this team. Still as as long ad Neil Black can appear to be seen to be doing something....... In fairness, it was started by someone who isn’t a regular in 19, not sure why he decided to go with that though like you say😂

Only his first game but for a big guy he looked quite agile and has some speed. Looking forward to seeing how he does today.

If he had been announced as a permanent head coach then I would agree it could be considered an easy and uninspiring move, but it’s not, if anything I think this is the right decision. The thing is Matheson and Lee really need to be on the ice (that’s if Lee ever manages to get back out there), so we do need a voice on the bench to keep the players focused and to maintain order. Let Whistle fill this role until the end of the season and then re-evaluate. I suppose it’ll give Doucet somebody else to blame and be the fall guy to take the heat off himself when it all goes tits up by seasons end. 😉 I think the heat is still on Doucet though, getting rid of Wallace might have bought him some time with Black but I think the fans are well and truly focussed in on Doucet’s decision making now. If Doucet gets a chance next season I think it would be wise for him to hire a coach who has been part of a coaching and GM role, someone who has developed good contact lists and has experience in recruitment so they can work together.
