Nothing like old school hockey. Sadly these days the officials think they’re above the game and DOPS made it so that players who play the game like Barry Neickar, Dody Wood, Jason Clarke, Alex Penner just haven’t got a place in modern hockey. If they can’t put up 30+ points as well as fight and keep their discipline (for the most part) it’s getting harder for them to get a job outside the LNAH.

Goalies: Pietila, Cruikshank, K-Wall
Defense: Paek, Thompson, Stancok, Carlson, Charron, Beckett
Forwards: Drouin, Jinman, Cadotte, Tessier, McAslan, Galbraith, DAB, Fox, Ling, Richardson
Drop a goalie and that’s a pretty decent roster for the EIHL if they were all playing today.

Been watching Cardiff’s sorry Mardiff’s instagram story today and Josh Batch did a take over day. Showed him going to their gym training and ice training and the stuff the guys are doing is on par with the stuff our lead strength and conditioning coaches are doing with our sport scholars (I work at NTU) which is highly impressive stuff. From the little snippets we’ve seen of the panthers gym work on social media (mainly off season) it shows quite the difference between the two! That’s the first thing panthers should address in the off season and part of the “what should the panthers do” Get your S&C bang on and your laughing

And tonight we saw what Chris Stewart is all about, finally. He’s shut me up with that performance, long may they continue!! 2 D out, played a good solid game, few personal errors cost us goals coughlepinecough. Also Belfast love to get their sticks and their elbows up in faces. Let’s see what next weekend brings.

We have a cringe-worthy goal song and your team "celebrates a win". Belfast and Cardiff chalk up wins and simply celebrate winning silverware. That is the reality of it. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 every team celebrates a win!! Over in South Wales do they get the win straight faced and head off the ice for a shower and bed? Captain Mardiff here goes on about winning silverware but it wasn’t too long ago you were scrapping the barrel for anything to be happy about. Everything comes in cycles and you’ve not won anything yet this season, especially at the NIC

Fantastic news someone let all our forwards know they can skate into the offensive zone with their head down waiting for the puck because it’s all on the D man not to hit them. Jesus man it’s ice hockey! What’s the one thing that’s said world wide when someone gets hit, even on the computer games “KEEP YOUR HEAD UP” player advancing into the offensive zone knows he needs to have his head up and be aware of his surroundings. If not your going to get run over and most likely injured! It’s a laugh it’s still being seen as the crime of the year. Mosey skates in as speed with his head down to receive a pass, Rissling comes across and makes a defensive play and checks him. All fair in my eyes and both players will know that too!! The rules have changed. A player can no longer skate into a check recklessly and try to defend a resultant hit to the head as a byproduct of a hockey play. It is no longer in their arsenal. Those days have gone. ‘There is no such thing as a clean bodycheck to the back, head, or lower body of an opponent.’ Good job the check wasn’t reckless and was delivered to the shoulder then or he might in some trouble . . .

If the ex-Devils player you are referring to is Max Birbraer, then he did infact change his opinion on the issue to side with DOPS, but not the term of suspension. As for the "keep his head up" comment; again, this is 2019. The whole responsibility is on the defensive player. All of it. This has been demonstrated in recent IIHF tournaments and is well documented in the NHL. It only takes one hit like this to ruin the life of a person. In the NHL, super skilled guys like Kariya, Lafontaine, Savard etc have had major off ice issues regarding their injuries. Players in the UK have lost their careers too. As the game gets faster, the emphasis on these hits is even greater. The force of collision is getting bigger. Whilst the governing bodies across the world are clamping down on these hits, it does not help that fans of whatever club, moan/complain when their guy is the guy that gets suspended. Rissling hits mosey initially in the shoulder, mosey has his head down, the fact of speed, weight and height come in to play. The hit was at speed, Rissling is about 3 foot taller and about 30kg heavier so the hit is always going to cause damage. It’s the movement of Mosey’s head after the collision which causes the issue, if the head rapidly moves during impact it can lead to a loss of consciousness and that wouldn’t have been helped by his head bouncing off the ice either. Knowing the EIHL Rissling will sit for a few games and Ulmer will receive no ban and they will also award Cardiff 2 goals and give them the win and knight Andrew Lord.

Of teams in the past I’d have said we’ll win the second leg by 4 goals as Corey used to find a way to get his teams to play for the cup/big games. This team however just have nothing about them anymore. Such a contrast to the team we started the season with.

Devils stretch to a 9 point lead in the league and I think that wraps it up for the 2018/19 season, Challenge Cup and Playoffs to be decided

Being an islanders fan I’m now seeing what a talented bunch can do under a top coach. If we fix the structure of the club GM down we could be a force for years to come! The bigger picture needs addressing

Laughable conditions. Just how do you not manage a frozen ice surface for a game? Then to make it fair by swapping ends mid third?! Really? If it’s not fair it shouldn’t be played on.

Bad health is never wished on anyone and I hope for a full and speedy recovery. With health being of our upmost importance maybe this is a sign he should be looking to pass the reigns to someone else in the coming years.

Sack off the 3rd / 4th game it’s a joke and disrespectful to the players, they’ve just lost a semi final the day before I highly doubt it’s enjoyabke for them to skate out and “Play” infront of a half cut crowd who don’t really care about the outcome. Just have the saturday semi finals and the stand alone Sunday final.

I’ve been to one game all year and to be honest I’m glad. Never felt this way towards my team for years. Lost the love for the panthers and it’s sad to admit. I was excited for this season. The #NewEra that turned out to be a new coach but nothing else changed. If the club really want a #NewEra then it needs to be sold to a hockey minded owner, bring in a new hungry GM, a coach who is let off the reigns, backing staff that aren’t kept hanging around for ease and a better set up with physio, s&c and nutritionist. All I see if money wasted if I buy a ticket.
