Maybe with the new fighting rule they have in the AHL where it's 1 a game or your get into trouble this could work out well for panthers as we could nab a guy who wants to fight more then just once a game but has also played a lot of AHL just like Fitzgerald.

So we need a tough guy now, every team seems to be picking them up apart from us.

We need a guy who can fight and play, they aren't there just to protect they're there to spark something and allow there players to play knowing that crap won't be taken

You can't have a guy who is just an out and out fighter, you have to have players in the salters, lepine, king mould, players who can play hockey first and fight second. Alex penner is prime example of what you shouldn't have on your team and salters is prime example of what you do need.

Or Craig Weller would do the job.

Let squeelers sign him, with the way Hanson runs discipline, he won t play much anyway, hense a wasted import! He's tweeted saying he's excited to be joining the Sheffield steelers!! Can't wait to see someone on our team run him over and bury him into the boards!

So Cardiff got some tough guys in over the last 2 days, and Morency to Sheffield will be interesting to see how he gets on with the EIHL zebras on penalty patrol and Hanson going crazy with bans! I'm hoping panthers bring in Craig Weller he's the type of man we need and as he can play D and RW he'd do a very good job!!

With the draft pick finishing and a lot of trades happening and many players being free agents/bought out/released from nhl contracts what do you think the odds are of panthers picking up a D MAN who was between the AHL and NHL last season? I'm not expecting Subban to be on the next flight to nottingham but there's a few who we're playing between the AHL and NHL last season who could be tempted as we have schooling available for them at the top sport Uni in the country

just as a side point, after saying in the Nottingham Post that Neilson isnt looking at signing an Oreskovic / Henley im slightly worried we wont have a known fighter to patrol the ice. at least 1 of the 3 Dmen need to be able to enforce and intimidate in my opinion, someone like Lepine who can play aswell would be perfect. i do hope Neilson doesnt just go with 3 players who can JUST play though... Henley? He retired didn't he? Doubt he'd come back, crazier then penner!

Well seeing as Corey does get his last couple on imports from what's recommended on here he has a few to pick from, let's hope he goes with the masses and picks one of the suggest D men from the list we've provided

I think there's always need for a player who is noted as a tough guy. It lets other teams know that liabilities can't be taken. Tyson Marsh is decent enough but there's better out there and I'd like to think that Corey will be spending abit to get them in Someone like Brennan Evans? He'd do the job but likeliness of getting him are slim

Good CV for sure but if Werner does come back we will have 4 Right handed D men. Need a couple of lefties.... Wouldn't be too upset if it was Rawlyk and Marsh. They can always use their backhand of they are a right handed player on the left (joking) still a decent crop to try and pull 1 or 2 out of.

Today's evening post article looks like it puts a few rumours to bed. Neilson confirms that he is looking for 3 import D men to complete the roster. So no returns for Ling Francis Salters Myers Jinman It's also mentions that Eric Werner is likely to return and that he is not looking for anymore toughness as the big guys like Oreskovic and Henley were not needed last season. So it sounds like Werner plus 2. We should look pretty solid at the back with 3 good pairings plus Oakford. I do think we look a bit light up front especially when you consider how Belfast could line up. Still, in Corey I trust. 8 from 12. Roll on August. reading that still think we need at least one tough guy, because atm we have farmer and lee the only guys that look like they will drop the gloves and that's not a good sign Lee can handle himself but he isn't going to go after the bigger boys and as for farmer is he can pull and guy into a fight then he's done a good job, Lawrence and Parent can throw them if needed

Interesting read in the evening post, I'd have personally been looking to get salters back, big power forward, scores goals and can fight. 3 import D coming in with Werner likely to be one of them, I'm assuming he'll be the one to join the rush and put up good points from D, hope the other 2 are big guys as were abit small at the back so far. Puts a lot of pressure on Graham, Clarke and Lacho to rack up the goals as Higgins is an assist man and who knows what Lawrence and Parent can do. Still my season ticket is purchased and I'm excited for the season!! Or to add to that maybe he's bringing back Fox as a defenseman and it's just a big ploy to confuse other team (tounge in cheek I speak of course) Is be happy if we managed to temp 2 of the D from the current USA/CANADA contingent free agents from the DEL. Big ask but maybe Corey has abit of room in the budget! www.eliteprospects.com/free_agent_pool.php?status=defensemen&nation=&LeagueID=DEL

His write up on the league website is a good one, not short of any confidence about himself, think it's quite funny to say he sees himself as an OFD yet his points would suggest he's very much a DFD. Good pick up for the stars
