Please use this thread for discussion of other team's signings. If we sign someone, or another side make a special signing - use your own discretion - please feel free to start a separate thread, but for the run of the mill stuff in here please. Confirmed signings please post a link in the 2014/15 Rosters thread. Ta.

Don't want to start a new thread but I think we've missed a "franchise" player this year. Amidst all the inconsistent ex NHLers (92 NHL games between 7 players) there hasn't been a stand out, "best in the EIHL" type player that Ling basically was last year. Next year, I'd hope we could find a couple more players like Francis and Lepine (unheralded but keen, much like Giants have done with Saurette and Higgins) whilst flashing some cash at a true "franchise player", who would perform in that way. Giants have done all they have (43/52 league games won, points in 3 others...) without an NHL game on their entire roster.

That's a great start for Belfast. Reckon it was done to cheer the fans up after yesterday? Strange to announce a bulk of signings without a good reason

See some Giants fans arent happy with Cheverie being back and also wouldnt want Whitecotton,Szwez,Murphy back I know they wanted something special this year but seriously I personally would bite your hand off for those players.

See I wasn't impressed with cheverie at PO. Would love Higgins or whitecotton. Would also love Elfring. Thoughts szwez was dissapointing in the playoffs too. Not to say either haven't been good during the season though.

I can understand them on Murphy. Probably the best Brit goalie but looks very shaky every March/April. Look how solid Doyle was when mattered and Kwall has been there consistently when matters in the past.

I think a lot of that is a knee-jerk reaction from the Playoffs. Certain players (most noticeably Szwez) just didn't turn up. Murphy was average at best, and with Doyle having the game he had, it just made him look worse.

all but Lloyd were announced previously at different events by Kelman as all were on 2 year deals - Lloyd was the only new one - however watching that interview I wonder if Todd knew he hadn't already told us about Lloyd being on a 2 year deal.
Murphy was coming off an injury (was only 50% at Challenge cup and idiot he was told Adey he was fine to play but in reality hadn't eaten due to a reaction to whatever injections he was having that had also given him cramps - however I doubt playing Dickson would have changed the result lol ) Usually Murphy gets better towards end of season but this time round got worse - as proved by the % in the final run in - I wonder if he has another year of fitness left in him.
Szwez - most frustrating player we have - scored 13 GWG this season yet never seemed to be there when it mattered - unlike the last time he was here when he showed up in the big games. I doubt he'll stay another year in UK
Higgins is a strange one..... hugely homesick - rumours that he has flown back to Boston at every chance he had - even if only for a few days - but one of the most entertaining players I've ever seen.
The ones banging on about Whitecotton and Cheverie being average just need a slap. Some of our fans seem to think that goals are the only thing that matters to a forward, never mind the 100 assists those two have between them -
Szwez is probably the only one I'd let go voluntarily - if I was a betting fan I'd say the 4 replacements TK talks of - Higgins, Whitecotton, Szwez and Brookwell (although I hope he sticks around another year if Elfring does)
I would take all our Brit skaters back - think Peacock is a captain of the future.

Good signing for the Giants, leads by example, would very happily see him in Nottingham.

Keefe back in Belfast. 2 year deal. As soon as Lloyd was re-announced you had to know this would be coming.

It was an overhyped signing to be fair. Good news. We just need to counter sign with Salters!

Not a signing, but Benn Olson is not returning to the blaze. I assume this is LeFebvre showing he's not keeping people for entertainment value. Big character loss for the league (unless he signs somewhere else)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for UFC on ice but I do like to see a phyical game with a bit of an edge and a few tasty scraps along the way. These type of players also keep the WUM's and cheap shot artists honest. Be a sad day for the game in this country if all of the Olson/Henley/King/Nickerson type players were never seen again and we went 'non-contact'

I think this seasons penalty and ban fiasco will deter a fair few enforcers from coming to the league. I hope that the league can revert back to how it was 5 or 6 years ago where each team has a few tough guys and they do their jobs and just get 5 for fighting. Dreaming I know!!

Peacock back for 2 seasosn at Belfast, shame that he doesnt come to Panthers! A shame but no great surprise. Any team (even one without a coach) will aggressively retain their British players. There just aren't enough to go around!
