dunno how many of you read the westgarth interview or seen the last gladiator but seems most of these enforcers really wanna play too, if we give lizon the chance i think hes going to take it and have far more enthusiasm than alot of the team last year so i dont think we should write him off as far as points just yet

im wondering if we are playing short cause we haven't got this key guy Coreys going on about and not signing filler like a fair few of our players have been perceived to be gives up an spare slot for if things don't work out for them in their new place or for us to find a better upgrade

in the spirit of the resurrecting old threads saw this one ages ago funny how it predicted conferences
are any of the old bnl rinks still capable of holding teams? doesnt look some like of them them are represented in the EIHL or EPL would be nice to see some more games between the two maybe

A later season Cameron Mann was pretty good. I rated Bob Wren until he ran into injury issues too Mann was 32 when he played for us, so hardly an 'older player' really. Think kingmonkeybutt was more of the meaning of players being a lot older than that, which your next choice in Wren fits the bill, sadly he would go into the marmite section for me though, which I daren't participate in. yeah late 30s players bob wren did a point a game but didnt set the world on fire maybe with his past experience was expecting too much from him?

with the obvious exception of ling have we ever had an older player with amazing experience who absolutely killed it?

Zion was a strange one - absolutely oozed class and quality (on the ice at least) pre-injury but when he returned after injury he was a dreadful, it was painful to watch and a sad demise Got to emphasise this one. The change was so remarkable! Went from single handedly taking on all players end to end and putting it top shelf, to barely being able to skate and stick handle! same with d'amour

That would be good. Always used to enjoy a trip down to MK. Best view of the ice was from in the bar, what a shame. And from a selfish point of view, absolutely loads of trains to and from Birmingham with the station right near the rink. They had a seat on the board of the original EIHL in 2003, I believe it lapsed after 10 years. Nothing stopping them re-applying of course. wernt manc and london in the same position?

Sad news but unfortunately not really that unexpected. I've said from day one of the conference system that Hull were screwed and massive losers in the reorganisation, and all to appease the Scottish teams. How anyone thought it was a good idea to reduce the number of visits of their two closest rivals, who also happen to be the two teams with the largest travelling support, is anyone's guess. Wouldn't he already have tried them? Why would someone 'buy out' a team that is desperate and heading for the wall? It'd make far more business sense to let the existing team go pop then pick up the pieces for free. Perhaps this is what is happening? If it's the same consortium who approached McEwan before then this would make even more sense. They owe him nothing, he turned down their approach before. I'd suggest Braehead should have to dig deepest, because they're the biggest beneficiaries of a retained conference system. Regards Doom I'm not sure they're currently that far in the black to be able to use 'their' money to support another team. I'd suggest the lions share of any pot they reached into to support a team in Hull would contain black and yellow tinged funds... all the stuff i heard about mcewen wasnt good last season not paying people bad attitude etc im not sure he would approach them first due to ego

I've seen rumours that turned out to be true plucked on less so i'd speculate Corey has at least been in contact. From what I understand clubs will use current and ex-players to speak to potential signings to give them a feel for the team and how things work which may be why Wild and Clarke are now being followed. thats one of the reasons i do hope we sign westgarth as he is a very recent nhler must know loads of solid guys who might be up for a stint over here
