Interesting that Lepine sits another game. Wallace and Doucet have recruited well Is it? Do you think Wallace would have touched him with a barge pole if he wasn’t on a Uni deal? Do we have a Captain yet?

Anyone who thinks we can live with their budget is plain crazy. We're playing for 4th place this season, never forget that. Well we could and we should, but I can only assume that a significant amount of the profits are being spent elsewhere.... Anyway I’m season ticketless this year and doubt I’ll be seeing this lot on the ice much at all... I’m not feeding the cash cow, this will be the norm all season when playing the top 3....

No way am I paying #15 and effectively funding that expensive roster, I hope people aren't stupid enough to pay for it, otherwise they will maintain that price.

A group of us were season tickets for years but last year decided it would be out last feeding the cash cow, and after seeing what other big clubs have signed vs what we have done We are all really happy with that decision.
Instead of paying for a season ticket to go most weeks, I’ll probably go 2-3 times during the season, but the way I feel at the moment I’m not sure when the first game will be tbh, I have zero enthusiasm about it, but will keep an eye on the scores over the weekend...

I don’t think based off Steelers roster this season that you can say Fox is a great recruiter as it appears that he’s just brought in players from in and around Zagreb from when they were in the KHL and EBEL. I could be wrong but I just don’t think their roster suggests that he’s got a large or great contact list fair enough but id take their roster over ours (yet again ill state that this is on paper) I doubt we could afford their roster on our budget tbh.. On paper they are spending way more than we are... I would assume we are spending significantly less than Belfast, Sheffield and Cardiff, sadly we just cannot compete.

It's a whole other level, as is their budget. Just hope they take the league/trophies from the other two big spenders. Rather these guys than the others. The budget of Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast, on paper, looks far superior to ours, but I’m struggling to understand why? We had the 2nd highest average attendance last season, still maintaining a high level, we’ve effectively lost one senior Brits wages this year, which in theory could be used to attract imports. Yet we seem to have signed a lot of players without the experience needed to make a big impact, a lot of wait and see about the team. I understand that Doucet and Wallace want to create an identity and they’ve banged on about a team that is hard-working and has a lot of speed, but why can’t we sign players in this mould that have had experience in the top European leagues or AHL, the same leagues that other teams are signing players from? I don’t want to be cynical but with the lack of annual news about season ticket numbers increasing, is it a fair assumption that they’ve took a decline? There was a hell of a lot of un-rest last season. In turn we don’t have as much money to spend on the squad and Black isn’t re-investing the money that other clubs are to make us competitive. I really hope the club comes out and announces a forward and dman that raises the level of this team. You also have to remember that the Panthers have by far the best Sponsor in the league too, bringing in far more than the other arena teams. I guess the difference is the other teams spend what they get, I am guessing that Panthers like to bank a stack of cash for Black and his backer??? If so that is a massive difference right there. We will NEVER compete with the other three clubs, if this is the case.

There are many "wise" fans, who have not renewed their season ticket for this coming season after the dross served up last season. Are you privy to all season ticket renewals data then? Log in at 9am Monday and have a look at the arena seating plan and the seats left, it’ll tell you how many season tickets have been sold. I know a big chunk of people who sit around me never renewed, I’m talking about 15 that I know off.. I’m sure some of it will be compensated with new holders but I bet the overall trend in sales was down...

How many players do you guys still need to sign. 3 forwards and gui said in a interview that he isn’t done on defence but we have enough defenders already, I’m guessing he is signing a spare d man. At least that allows us to ice Lepine as little as possible.

In all honesty, do you think we will actually win the league??? This team needs to rebuild, so maybe we should play Whistle in 50% of the games and help him develop, this team will need a few seasons to bring on the Brits, so he could be a good part of a long term plan, especially when we have lost Lee and Farmer... I keep hearing this but why wouldn’t we at least challenge for the league? An arena team, GD has plenty of experience of the league, he knows the Cardiff setup, he has the budget. I’d be pretty disappointed if we finish bottom of the arena teams. I don’t see a reason to under achieve when other teams are rebuilding too. We don't have the quality of Brits that Sheffield have and we re signed two players who I would have never had back in a Panthers top, so I think we are going to be sitting mid table at best... If Farmer does end up back that might nudge us a little, otherwise I see the next couple of seasons as a rebuild.

It’s a very good signing IF Kevin Carr does a great job. But if Carr isn’t up to scratch that means Whistle will be in goal too often and he isn’t good enough to win a league title.

From the interview with Moran it sounds like the Arena is booked up with loads of events which has limited the availability of Sat nights to play games. It didn’t sound like it was strategic to move games away from Saturday, fixing them on Sundays and Mid week.
I’m guessing as the arena is used more and more that Saturday night fixture will dwindle further year on year.

In a further development. It appears Whistle has been given a deadline ultimatum to either accept a pay cut and shared duties, or move on. if Whistle was to leave and join another EIHL club, who would you have as backup? Who would want him though? Can’t see Fife taking him as they always go after good net minders...I’d say he maybe forced to accept or look towards North America..

I appreciate that TW/GD have got a plan in mind & are recruiting to that style (so they say) but I feel like I’m really missing something with some of these signings. More than happy to be surprised by them but I just don’t see it right now. We look well behind Shef, Card & Belf. To be honest when we re signed Lepine and Rheult, we were already miles behind,.... I think we will go cheap and cheerful this season and work hard for the following season. I think the late appointment of Doucet and then Wallace, who people say was not first choice, I think we were on the back foot, so we have to accept that we will not be challenging the big guns this coming season.

To be honest we have been left with egg over our faces with Farmer and Lee on the move, leaving us with a really weak Brit pack. The difference between our pack and Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield’s is light years apart. Shame on Black for taking so long to put in place the changes required, with Chermo out the door, he should have had a coach and director in place before the season end! Ciaran Long should have been on the clubs radar, yet now we will be scrapping the bottom of the barrel to find replacements for Lee and Farmer! Then factor in that we are lumbered with Lepine and Rehault and it feels like it’s going to be a long season, and it’ll be hard beating the top four, never mind challenging for trophies.. God help us if any of the Brits sustain any long term injuries... From Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield the only real difference makers are Dowd, O’connor and Bowns. The rest do a job but I don’t think they contribute in the same way that most imports do. Look at Belfast, there success last season wasn’t driven by their Brits, the difference makers were their imports. Not Hook, Boxill, Garside, Swindlehurst, S.Murphy or Shields. I think we’re at the point now where 4 lines are a necessity to challenge for the title so you do need Brits. But, I personally feel now that we should come away from paying the inflated prices for Brits, that I expect we will have been paying Lee and Farmer, and utilise this money on import/s that are better players. Then, to allow you to play with four lines you sign cheaper role playing Brits or you bring your youth players into the team. We shouldn’t panic because we’ve lost Lee and Farmer, what they contributed can be replaced so long as Doucet manages the budget effectively, invests in higher quality imports and doesn’t over spend trying to sign British role players. But are we investing in higher quality imports, we are already saddled with two who were absolutely dreadful last season in a Lepine and Rehault, and a couple of others, who on paper would not look out of place at the likes of Coventry...

What replacement D man is available to open the cheque book for? Just because theres a shortage of half decent d men doesn't mean you should stick with the same old crap year in year out Do you have any proof that Stevie lee shopped himself to Sheffield btw? There was an article in the Sheffield post, but they couldn’t afford him within their budget, so Aaron Fox walked away, allowing Guildford to snap him up.

Apparently Davis’ agent met with Dixon yesterday to try and work out a deal that’ll see him back in Guildford. Something really not right in Notts that would see Stevie Lee look to leave and shop himself to Sheffield. There is very little chance Dowd or O’Connor would shop themselves to us, so why would a long serving player be keen to leave us to head up the M1, because there is no way they should be able to outspend us.. If this team finds Cardiff like success in the next few seasons, it’ll be more luck than anything. I really don’t understand the love-in on Lee all of a sudden to be honest. The only thing in his favour is that he’s a Brit. Must be one of the most complained and moaned about player on the team in the last couple of years and justifiably so. Was much better before the injury and has pretty much been a shadow of that player since. Open up the cheque book and upgrade in my opinion. One of two Brits personally I have wanted shipping out and upgraded. What replacement D man is available to open the cheque book for?

Just to reiterate pretty much every other sentiment here - after a few years of getting things better PR-wise after GM's social media cluelessness, this is a massively daft own goal. No one knows for sure whether Taylor ever had any definite interest in the EIHL, whether he's signed for a rival already or whether he's signing abroad again. But if you were the panthers org you knew you hadn't signed him so don't play up to the fans (unfair?) expectations that they're getting a KHL caliber goalie when you've actually signed an ECHL caliber one. Whats the old business maxim - under promise and over deliver not over promise and under deliver. General PR calamities aside the two most important bits of this for me are; they've managed to make their own fans look like mugs and made them easy targets for the stream of 'you thought you were getting Danny Taylor lol' jokes from the rest of the league. And most importantly they've made an absolute damp squib of the signing of their new starting goalie, who to most of the fanbase is now just 'not Danny Taylor'! They really do make following this team a tough ask at times... I would say that overall this is not typical and would hope that a lesson has been learnt . Give the lad a chance I would agree with that sentiment if he held his hands up and said, yup, own goal, really sorry. However, the lad has dug his heels in, sent out a gif in a tweet that has only goaded people and swizzled them off more. Sense of arrogance or just really stupid and not reading the feeling from the fanbase. Netminder looks ok, is another wait and see signing, think he will probably be the middle of the pack, but wont be challenging Bowns or Owen for the tops slot in the stats, hope to be proved wrong.

Taking into account the news of Lee’s departure it looks like Tetlow is going to have to step up. There are no other British defence man available and I don’t think we’ll overload the forward lines with Brits to compensate us having a 6 import defence. So, in theory, we now have our 3 L/H dmen signed up: Matheson - Import Lepine - Import Tetlow - Import Do people like the look of this so far? God no...
