Not one of our old boys, but Liam Kirk on the move from Litvinov, rumoured to heading for DEL and Berlin. 'Liam Kirk confirmed his reputation as a scorer in Litvínov, adding another 9 goals in the playoffs to his 19 goals in the regular season. But that's where his extra-league stint ends. If an offer from the NHL does not come, he should wear the jersey of Eisbären Berlin next season. ' although this statement might be nothing more than rumour mongering, EP give it some credence, and the following put more meat on the bones. - 'Liam has had a great season with us, he has left a big mark and we thank him for that. We are very sorry to see you go, but Liam has decided to move on in his career," says CEO Pavel Hynek. "Of course, Liam's passing is a huge loss. Although he came as a striker in the role of TOP9, his role was significantly greater. We were eminently interested in keeping him in Litvínov, and according to his agent, our offer was the same as the one he accepted elsewhere. He continues to dream of overseas, and his new club has close ties to the NHL. I would like to thank Liam for what he has done for Litvínov and wish him good luck for the future," adds sports manager Tomáš Vrábel.' taken from Litvinov website He's had a pretty good regular season and an outstanding play offs in a pretty tough league to play in. He's got the stats of a natural goalscorer, tell me a team who doesn't want one of them. Sounds like they've parted on good terms, which is always a good way to do so if needs must. Berlin is a heck of a place to live and play, average crowd nearly 14,000! Good luck to him.

Good to see JK get something. Somewhat of an "unsung hero" for me.

I note that Panthers 4th goal is credited to Henbrant, despite it being Luciani whose bum it goes in off, Henbrant being not, in any sense, there at the time... 88/98 confusion, I fear. One assumes it will be sorted.

I thought multicellular was the EIHL scribe trying, and failing, to sound clever, but could've just been a typo (multitude would make more sense). It was actually only 2 results we needed to go our way, so maybe just use "two" next time. Yep, sometimes less is more...

www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3870-panthers-get-the-needed-win-but-fall-short"The Panthers were always facing an uphill task, needing to win themselves and relying on a multicellular of other results to go their way." What? What on Earth were they looking for there? Multicellular? "The Panthers’ equaliser was a woeful goal for the occasion, though, with Didrik Henbrandt skating form his own zone..." Surely they mean "wonderful"? And "from"? And "Henbrant" to be fair... "Joe Hazeldine hit the crossbar and Ollie Better shot over from close range as the period ticked down" You better believe it... "To the Panthers’ credit, they threw everything they had at the Storm in the third period - and to Storm’s, they held out reliantly with sticks in lanes, blocked shots, and an inspired Older there when they needed." Resiliently? Oldale? It's just word salad...

A nearly final few from me.
152 man games lost to injury on the season, 6 to suspension. 142,087 attendance for 27 home games, average 5,262. Average skaters dressed for the season 16.67. Imports 13.53. Final points % was 0.463 (50/108) which was the best it had been since 12 January, thanks to 9 points in the last 5 games, the best 5 game streak we had since the return.
Longest player point streak - 11 (Nieminen games 41-51, Roy 34-44) Most consistent scorer - Nieminen, points in 35 of 54 GP. Ever presents, Nieminien, Roy and Lunsjo, who only took 13 minors between them all season, in 162 GP. Roy ends the season without a single penalty against his name, but 48 points, playing 19 minutes+ a game, all of which is outstanding taken together. (The nearest of any other player is Zach Sullivan at the Storm, who played 53 games without a PIM, playing nearly 16 minutes a game.)

Imagine being just so sad that you “like” every post that pertains to something going against the club. Almost as bad as trying to join back up twice when you’ve been banned lol. ISWYDT. lol

Beyond the usual hopes for this afternoon, I'd like to see Hugo Roy spoil his 0 penalty year by absolutely lamping someone with about a minute to go in the third. In all seriousness, that is a remarkable stat. One if the leagues top scorers hasn’t taken a single penalty. I once saw Dan Dorion get thrown out in Billingham , deliberately, so that he could serve his suspension before the play offs started. 🤣

It seems the OT trumping penalties scenario is wrong. Here are all the scenarios for Panthers to qualify as published on the EIHL website this morning. Nottingham Panthers must win in regulation, and hope that at least one of Coventry or Dundee lose, plus that Glasgow get no more than one point.
Were the Panthers to finish level on 49 points with Dundee (i.e. Dundee lose, Panthers lose in OT/SO), Dundee would win the tie-break on total wins
Were the Panthers and Stars to finish level on 50 points (i.e. Panthers win, Dundee lose OT/SO), a Panthers regulation win would see them win the tie-break on regulation wins. A Panthers OT/SO win would, however, see the teams tied on five straight tie-break points. It would come down to Point 6 - 'Away Games', whereby Dundee already have one point more and cannot be caught.
The Panthers cannot lose a tie-break with GlasgowThanks for updating. Really not happy I was correct first time around on this one. 😫 Well, at least that’s confirmed. Would’ve been nice if it was written to be a tad more visible for us all, prior to any announcement.

….a balanced view she’d realise that it isn’t just Panthers who’d had injuries to whine about. 🤣 No whining here. May as well say “If Panthers had won every game 5-0, it’d alll be over now”. Nothing goes on in a vacuum. We are where we are.

Or, does the, in that order priority exclude the brackets(the way I first read it)? In which case we are down to tie breaker 6, away games. I'll go with what Jono says as he'll know, but the league could write that a bit more clearly. It reads more like you make a mini-league and apply breakers 1-3 from the list to that. Would be a Victor Bjorkung overtime goal to thank if it comes to that. Yes, it is splendidly badly written, much like all official EIHL proclamations. Let’s hope we don’t have to go to that level of detail and mumbo-jumbo wooliness.

We would. But probably would want Cardiff in quarter final rather than Belfast. Genuinely impressed the Panthers are still in with a shout. I had ruled them out. They wouldn’t have been still in it if Owen and Carr hadn’t both missed a shed load of games for Flyers and Stars. And if my aunt had….

Safe in 4th and "resting" players or not, Storm will not give us any points this weekend. Panthers shouldn't be relying on other teams . They've had enough chances to secure a berth yet have given up numerous leads Agreed, but we are where we are. Anyone expecting any "favours" is the definition of an optimist.

I think the benefit of running a Michaud, Neilson, Lunsjö line for a whole season outweighs his face-off skills. Or let one of the other two take them. Also, regarding face-offs, Ollie has been very good at them this year. For me, you basically never run the same line all season. Something will give. Yes, those 3 were great in a short burst, but could they keep it up mover 50 games? I doubt it very much. That line played for 8 games, extrapolating that up over a season is a fair stretch. Pairs tend to be kept together, rather than whole lines? 13 and 43 have played with several wingers this season, but with each other for the vast majority of it. (98/88/56 have all been their winger for extended periods)

Back in early February I heard rumours that upto 5 players were 'likely' to return, one of which was 'definate' RlThough by designs rumours arent definate.. Whether they were/are allegedly imports and or Britain I don't know. In more recent times I heard the following, and I very much trust the source. Forgive me for blacking out names, though I'm sure some of you will be able to work out who it refers to. Hopefully what's contained within isn't true Last thing we need is another off season of mass change. Embarrassing move putting those screenshots on a forum! Supposably...

Quietly, I'd not realised (as I've not been looking at the CC stats at all) but Steelers' back up goalie, Anthony Morrone, is now played 14, won 14, this year. 8 in the Cup, 6 in the league. If I were him, I'd be a bit miffed they didn't give him the nod in the CC final, given as he got 8 wins out of 8 starts before that.

Nottingham simply have to focus on winning both games although I’m sure the players will be well aware of the permutations. That long losing streak & the blown leads in games have been a dagger to the playoff aspirations. it’s the same problems each year, the statement could generally describe the panthers organisation. Different coach, different players…no change really. Not sure I agree there. 2019-20, Panthers were the league's form team before it all went lockdown. Last season was awful, I agree, this season has been a roller-coaster for all the wrong reasons. Both are atypical.

It's the games where we've snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that have cost. The odd point here and there.
