If Steelers win their next 4 games they will win the league in Nottingham a week on Saturday 23rd March. (Assuming Cardiff keep winning but lose to Steelers) I reckon they’ll want to do it the day after though at home That’s what you said Iggy True you are correct for once. I shall scrutinise posts better in future. So get ready for me to nitpick as I’ll be watching. 😉 Gee, thanks, I can’t wait for you to do that 🙄

Bruce Richardson would be a good choice. In my opinion he more than anybody turned the Panthers around by instilling a will to win. Sadly when he left so did Panthers new found hard nosed mentality. Yep, that hard nosed mentality was missing so much that we only won 7 trophies out of the 9 available in the 3 seasons after Bruce left... Don’t let facts get in the way of an ex fans views Jono lol

How many coaches come in and see it click in their first season? Before a puck was dropped this season, many were laughing that Steelers coach was still employed. They have stuck with him, added year on year and have reaped the rewards. Parades has a good record over time, and can be forgiven for this year given the AJ situation. His stock was / is still high after his record in France to improve teams over time. Go for an overseas coach again and you have to give them a season (or two) to create any serious impact. I can’t think of many coaches who were only here a very short time, but two who were and won a trophy were Ben Simon at Sheffield and Chuck Weber at Coventry. So it can be done. The old saying “It has to take time” is just an excuse used by those who fail. There are plenty of coaches in the EIHL who have been here years like Stewart, Dixon,Pacha and Dutiame who have won absolutely nothing. So it’s an excuse to say it’ll take time and then you say only 2 have done it straight away?! So it’s not an excuse?! Fox has been given time and look what he has done. Sheffield could have sacked him after a season but they didn’t. Could have sacked him after he lost to us in the Covid season but they didn’t.

Like Gary Graham or Rich Chernomaz?! They still have a higher success rate than a European lol Yet they won nothing at panthers and didn’t last a season. Didn’t have to content with a player dying on the ice though did they? Didn’t have to go through that.

Good point to get tonight. Just makes the last couple of results even more frustrating. Would definitely like us to resign Otto for next season. He has certainly turned up just lately and is now into the top 10 points scorers in the league. Would love him and Roy back, Neill too.

I do actually feel for this new crop of panthers fan, they weren't around when panthers were good and probably will never see this team be successful. So finishing anywhere between 6th to 10th will be the norm I'm afraid Most (in fact all up to last and this) of the last few seasons have seen Panthers in the top 5, so "6-10" is hardly any kind of new norm. Up to March 20, Panthers were the form team in the league, with a very well balanced team. A duff team last season, we all know that, and an unprecedented, fractured, tragic season this is all we can tell from the last 2 years. Spot on

Need NB to go but that won’t happen sadly. Sheffield have a proper owner who will make sure they’re up the top every year, if only we had that

10 years ago we won the challenge cup after winning the lot the year before, not sure we would have been complaining. Since he left the club has fallen apart. But I know you won’t agree. Neilson was ok for a few years when he started. Poor league record though. Then he got bored, didn’t seem bothered and looked and sounded like he was just going through the motions. It went stale,he stayed far too long and since then the club has been a massive mess ! But don’t forget in Coreys best years, both Sheffield and Cardiff were in a mess with/after Phillips and Regan. Only coach to the win the league for us since what, 1956? Won so many playoffs and challenge cups and then the continental trophy. All that whilst having a poor owner. Wonder what he could have done with a proper budget eh! Must have killed you when he won the league hahahaha

The only consistent person is those years is the issue. Said it a million times, until he goes nothing will change I totally agree,I was telling you that ten years ago. Still saying it today,Black creates the bad ethos that seeps down through the club onto the ice. 10 years ago we won the challenge cup after winning the lot the year before, not sure we would have been complaining. Since he left the club has fallen apart. But I know you won’t agree. CN winning so much is unreal looking back now.

If you believe the culture of the club is the reason why we’ve struggled and have ended up languished in last place then I think you’re being unfair. The team have been through something catastrophic and unfortunately it has affected the professional relationship between them all. Nothing is normal for the team, what we expect from the coaches, in terms of motivation and leadership, doesn’t seem to be there when you watch them on the bench. I know your opinions on the club, as well as how long you’ve been watching hockey. Surely you can see that nothing is normal, there have been so many difficulties for the club to navigate. The club’s culture isn’t the cause of all of this Ok take this year out if it. What’s the excuse for the many other years ? Constantly finishing 4th,5th,6th then even 7th and now looking like 10th shows there is a problem. A pretty big one. The only consistent person is those years is the issue. Said it a million times, until he goes nothing will change

I know your opinions on the club, as well as how long you’ve been watching hockey. Surely you can see that nothing is normal, there have been so many difficulties for the club to navigate. The club’s culture isn’t the cause of all of this As I said on the Fife thread, before all this happened, we weren't a bottom side, we would be in the Playoffs. The players have battled even though that losing streak was getting bad, they clawed their way back but unfortunately the fixtures came thick and fast and it had to be the Scottish away games that had to be covered. The club could have helped out more by covering that Welsh injury that lasted a long time. The whole Robinson fiasco hasn't helped. Not being able to get a NM is a stupid rule and hasn't done Rok any favours as surely he wouldn't have been playing all these games. And then there was the rotten luck of Neilson getting injured during warm up. This season will go down as a What If... Totally agree. That night in Sheffield was horrific and quite how they’ve managed to play again is still a miracle.

Have you been living under a rock for the last 11 years and baring a 3 year spell.. its been like this since the NIC Was built! It's just not a winning culture in Nottingham.. it staggers me how many decent looking players arrive in Nottingham and under perform.. it happens to frequent to be just down to back luck. Won trophies for more than 3 years CN, so not all about breeding losers. We all know who the issue is but CN won well. He had a winning culture.

Why don’t you answer the question Ian? The Nottingham culture does what exactly? Breeds losing. That better Not really cos you don’t explain fully what you mean, you never do! CN somehow managed to win trophies though, hardly breeding losing was he!

Listening to the interview that BBC Nottingham did with Paredes after the Fife game, you get some insight from him with regards the injuries. Sounds as though Neill will be out for a while… www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0hj741wI’d be surprised if we saw Carl play again this season Whats he done?
