Does anyone know how long the Thomson logo/ad has been on the Elite League web page?

Not quite sure what the link is between fixtures and a league sponsor to be honest. They seem to me to be two quite separate issues. Announcing the sponsor is an external PR thing - a marketing opportunity for the Elite League and the actual sponsor. The fixtures are simply an administrative matter for the clubs and fans to plan their schedules for the season, not of much interest to anyone else or to the media I wouldn't have thought. Why not just announce the fixtures when they are finalised (although I use that word with caution based on recent seasons) and announce the sponsor when that is done and dusted? Seems to make sense all round to me. Or maybe the sponser DOES affect the sponsers and all this moaning about flights not being cheap wont in fact be true and the sponser can help us out? Now is that a "I know something you don't know" or just a guess

I love the winning formula of good technical hockey and inspired play making .... ... but I do like the physical stuff too! I'll sit on the fence on this one

From the Official Site ... "Three thousand seats at the National Ice Centre are already accounted for and ticket sales are going well for the big game which takes polace on Saturday, fec-off 7pm, door open 6pm."Fec-off yourself Father Jack!! ;D Think some one typed that one out in a rush! (Also giggled at "polace" for some reason, and I wonder which particular door will open at 6pm?!) I know I know, it's nitpicking for the sake of it. But if the worst I can find to moan about is typos on the website then Panthers must be doing alright!

the only thing good is that you can go outside for a fag, [ but for how long ]. Not post warm-up / pre game anymore though (unless you want to go out the main entrance). And you're no longer able to wander down the steps for a chat with Fatz (Out back of Block 1)

The "Talk Hockey" board is back up and running as of now following the recent suspension.
The Admin team have taken the opportunity of the closure to do a great deal of tidying up - Talk Hockey has effectively been given a fresh start.
The moderation policy on the Cage has generally been relaxed - the forum should be fun for those posting and for those running it.
However, of late much of the fun has gone out of the Cage - too much antagonistic and argumentative posting. It deters people from reading/posting on the Cage and becomes a problem for the Admin team.
The Mods do actually have lives outside of hockey and there is a limit to how much time and effort they are prepared to put in to the Cage. Ill considered and personal arguments are the last thing the Mods want to be dealing with - especially in the wee small hours.
Perhaps some of the fault lies with the Mods - maybe we've been too easy going on some posters.
So, as Talk Hockey returns, expect to see a heavier hand from the Admin team. Deletion of inappropriate posts, warnings and suspensions are likely to be more in evidence.
It's been said on here a number of times but freedom of speech necessitates responsibility from the individual if anarchy is to be avoided.
Personal attacks, personal grudges, undue aggression and repetitive arguments will be clamped down on. Young or old, new fan or grizzled veteran, home or away fan - the same rules apply to all.
Let's make Talk Hockey fun again.
Thanks in anticipation of you co-operation - Cage Admin.

Its because we have WAY too many people visiting as "guests" who lock up slots in the website. If people sign in once they arrive it would make it tick over a lot easier. It's a problem with the server (we're on server #35 of 39) .... there's literally thousands of boards hosted on that one server, ours not one of the largest. I've been assured that they are working on it and it shouldn't be too long before we start noticing improvement. All we can do is wait patiently.

This is a problem of which we and ProBoards are aware. They've had a run on sign ups and our server (ProBoards35) is a bit maxed out. It will sort itself out as they move boards to other servers but as with all things it'll take a little while. In the mean time we have to be patient.
Their advice is to wait the perscribed thirty seconds before attempting reconnection ... otherwise the server gets busier and busier therefore making the problem worse.

Boniface has lost the plot, but I comfort myslef knowing that Andy French will recind the peanlities and tell Boniface to get into the real world. Then again.... HL It's up to the club and the fans to put pressure on him if he doesn't (sorry Andy! )

The more I think about this the more incensed I become.
If the referee's justification is that any acknowledgement to the crowd is unlawful then that also holds no water as he's not been backwards in coming forwards in reacting to the crowd himself in the past. In fact I've witnessed him make a gesture (note: not what you would call an offensive gesture) towards a lady in block 5 not too long ago whilst being heckled by the crowd on leaving the ice (was it early this season or last season I'm sure Wigwam will remember...)

Entering the realms of fantasy with that theory Anton .... but I guess we have to visit all parallel universes to find Mr Boniface's thoughts behind such a shocking call.
I do hope that there is a complaint lodged and the official receives some guidance about what he can and cannot bring to bear discipline wise. We had cause to complain last season when we felt badly let down by a referee as we felt he was adversely predujiced against us in his inconsistency that evening. This is a whole other can of worms ... and I expect it to be opened straight away. Who does he think he is?

1salute vt 1 to address with expressions of greeting, goodwill, or respect 2a to honour by a conventional military or naval ceremony b to show respect and recognition to (a military superior) by assuming a prescribed position c to praise < - d her courage > 3 archaic to become apparent to (one of the senses) - vi to make a salute - saluter n
2salute n 1 a greeting salutation 2a a sign or ceremony expressing goodwill or respect b an act of saluting a military superior; also the position (e g of the hand or weapon) or the entire attitude of a person saluting a superior
goodwill and respect there I think the key words behind the act of saluting ... where the hell you can find unsportsmanlike behaviour in that I cannot fathom. Beggars belief.

What the HELL is he doing throwing Ivan out for saluting the crowd? I cannot wait to see the official reasoning behind this ... First home game I've missed in two years .... jeez I wish I was there ... I'd give you a special salute of my own Nigel.
