'Spotted' on ebay by a 1st post newbie... Indeed. This would seem to be a direct plug of a commercial activity - which is against ProBoard's rules for their non-subscription forums. Hence the removal of the link to the eBay listing.

I've been away from the Cage for 36 hours and come back to find an excess of vitriol, inconsiderate posting and the biggest outbreak of trolling since the Norse Chronicles.
Quite frankly I can do without it.
I go away for a day or two and then have to sit up way into the early hours reading and editing pages of personal squabbles etc trying to find out what's gone off - and judging by the vitriol and deleted accounts something's been going on.
I can see now why Kendra closed the "Lair", why Mitya quit the Cage, why BJ said "enough!" and why Nutty quit.
BJ wasn't far wrong with his tombstone "RIP Cage Forum"......
A forum exists for it's members - it is what it's members make it. It isn't the job of the Mods to orchestrate the forum, only to try and tidy up when people overstep the line. Mods give up (a lot) of their time trying to keep the Cage on an even keel but as Lucy said elsewhere, we do actually have lives to live outside of hockey.
However, if the burden becomes too great then make no mistake, we will walk away. The Cage has a proud tradition but if people don't respect it then make no mistake, I'm prepared to close it down.
It's now getting on for 2am and I've still got some way to go to get through all the posts that have been made in my absence, to make sense of what's been going on.
In light of that, I'm suspending all posting to "Talk Hockey" for a while.
A chance for us all to reflect on our behaviour and what we want and expect from the Cage.
A sad day indeed.

Lets not tarnish all their fans though - it's a minority - as per most arenas/rinks

LMAO! Don't know about 'one-eyed' as your friend in Shuff recently said HL, but definately short sighted! ;D From the official website ... Which means I'll miss the second leg ... I learned yesterday I'm to be working away in January now .... missing 4 home games . I will get to see our old friend Scott Allison playing while I'm away though ... coached by a certain Derek Laxdal ...

According to the club history pages on the Panthers site, it's thought to be something to do with a squadron based in Nottingham at the time. I think you're right Twix ... a wartime R.C.A.F. Squadron iirc?

Thanks Cunndies.
Thats the end of this for me .... you've apologised for your muppets and I appreciate that.
All in all it was a great weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it despite my teams dreadful performance on Saturday.
Thanks to the 'majority' fans who made us feel welcome. ;D

but his contempt for other teams and leagues is hardly hidden, now is it? No, it isn't .... but there isn't thread after thread on those other teams forums devoted to the man! Also Shagster (admin note) .... please have a look at the last sentence of your post, it seems poorly worded and could be read in a way that you didn't quite intend!

Och aye the noo etc etc ... Greetings from your roving Admin in Edinburgh's easyinternet cafe ... Last night .... sorry it was painful. We threw the game away in the first with some incredibly dodgy defence ... hardly any checking ... were our boys afraid of boards with no plexi? Maybe ... Fife took the lead, and held onto it well. We'd sorted our lives out by the third but it was too late, Fife happy to sit back and close us down. A call for illegal equipment is always a gamble .... happily it paid off the first time to give us a man advantage .... why did we chance our luck again so soon? Nightmare. I loved the rink, with its old time hockey feel. Some of the fans let you down though Cunndies .... a bunch of guys sat down right of us Panthers lot thinking it funny to throw all manner of abuse at JC .... and booing us off the ice?? Come on .... no-one likes a bad winner That 'Velvet' beer ..... nectar!! A nasty spanking for us that hurt .... especially after our winning run, two points squandered ... but we've got to move on. Tonight has to be a different story, I'll be very surprised if it aint. One last thing .... I'm happy at the prospect of welcoming BNL teams to the Elite League .... but please DON'T bring your officials. I'm not blaming them for the scoreline last night .... that was down to how we played .... but I must say it was some of the worst officiating I've ever witnessed, do BNL linesmen know the off side rule?! Random thoughts in no particular order .... I'm off now for a haggis! ;D

I neither have been able to find any credibility in this rumour ... search where I might. So we'll put it down as just that eh .... a rumour. (Must be nice for him to see he'd be missed though!
