Jonno Didn't you notice that all the time the Steelers spent in our zone, which was a lot over the sixty minutes, the clear shooting chances created were minimal. Give our D some credit where it's due. Fair enough we didn't always clear it as quickly as you would like but they closed it down to protect Sunny and did it well IMO. Yes Nemesis, definitely agree that we closed down well and hurried them on the puck, which is the main reason we conceded only 2 goals. My point was on the way we cleared the zone. All night it seemed to take an age meaning we spent a lot more time in our zone than was necessery. Thats what i was trying to say, but hey its irrelevent-WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Just got home - so hyped up I can't sleep! The last three hours have been totally brilliant - we cheered the lads onto the bus at Sheffield we cheered the lads off the bus in Nottingham.
I am so proud to be a Panthers fan.

I think that there'll be a few fans too hyped up to sleep tonight Lucy ... me being another one! How good does this feel? I thought my chest was going to burst with pride tonight. I can't stop grinning, Yorkshire Panther is wandering around the house in a daze singing 'Championees championees ...' LOL! What a night. It was also a pleasure to join Big Dave Steeler and his family for a drink in the Noose after the game ... and then to cheer the guys onto the bus and shake Paul Adey's hand ... A night I'll remember for the rest of my days. Jono ... takes a big man to admit he was wrong. Nice one dude, at last they've given us all something to smile about ;D ;D ;D The Cheshire Cat's got nothing on me right now ;D [glow=red,2,300]PANTHER AND PROUD[/glow] ... to use one of Wigwam's expressions!

Just been on the Radio Nottingham website and listened to the commentary by Chris Ellis on that third goal. (If I knew how to put the link I would, but my brain has gone numb)
He won't have a voice left in the morning ;D

Oh.
My.
God.
Last night was amazing...still can't think straight due to lack of sleep so can't remember who said it, but whoever made the "credit to..." list, I agree with every single word.
I don't think anyone could doubt the team's will to win last night, they've been accused of not caring etc etc but last night they worked their arses off. For us.
The sight of them when they let in that first goal...and the second, well, it broke my heart!! And from listening to the post-match interviews on the Radio Nottingham website, I think they were a bit happy at the end!!
And I couldn't be prouder...or happier!!
No doubt today I'll be wandering around in a daze...it still doesn't feel real, but I know it was!! And boy does it feel good.

I've thrown a sickie at work today, 'cos I ain't done partying yet! ;D
Had the misfortune to be stuck with 2 (very) sore losers on the train home last night.
They weren't prepared to listen.
So now they've sobered up, and now I've sobered up ;D I'd just like to say, from all the Panthers' fans, over 2 games and 122 minutes of hockey, accept the facts - YOU WERE SECOND BEST!
It isn't good for any sport for one team to totally dominate on a regular basis.
We've got the best players in the league, although perhaps the direction has been missing on occasion.
Last night we had all the direction we needed
Now, head DIRECTLY to the NIC trophy cabinet.
Just save some space for April 4th! ;D ;D ;D

Got to admit to eating a large share of humble pie myself. We were in the chatroom last night (about 20 or so of us) and i posted that we would 'CHOKE' again when they got their equaliser.Just for once it was nice to be wrong! Congratulatios to both teams I think as neither side actually won either game in regulation. It could not have been any closer or nervewracking. Go Panthers.

Been a regular reader of the Cage for some time but this is my first post! Just to say 'Congratulations' on last nights result. I think that over the two legs you just about edged it. With all the time we appeared to be camped out in your zone I don't expect to hear many comments about defensive hockey not being successsful. JC turned up and played hockey last night (we all knwe he could) and our guys just didn't manage it. Roll on the play-offs - could be very interesting.

It was also a pleasure to join Big Dave Steeler and his family for a drink in the Noose after the game The pleasure was all ours, was great to have a chat and refuse a drink off ya (though a week a saturday, I think i will make sure I hant got a drink before you ask ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D) Well what am I going to say about the game, feel awful this morning (not that anyone will feel sorry for me ) Was one of them evenings that you wanted everything to go according to plan, sod what else happened yesterday the match was everything, and for me it failed to deliver. For the first time, I have seen a blazer team suffer from nerves at the big game, and it effected our game, because of this we could not play our normal game, and IF we did play our normal game, I think Gary Moran would not be slapping his chest showing the whole world that he still has a heart LOL. HOWEVER We did not play our normal, natural game and your guys were up for it. Craighead came to played hockey, and if you want to narrow it down to one area of the game where you had the advantage then there you go. Great atmosphere, which your fans played a part in, and it is only a shame that the same number of fans dont come up to EVERY game in Sheffield, and not just wait for the cup finals etc (please dont think im accusing your fans of glory seeking, but the potential atmopshere game in game out would be brilliant would'nt it) Ah well, I think our theme tune now is "2 our of three aint bad" ;D ;D ;D ;D Well done, enjoy the moment, and roll on the Play-Offs David

Absolutey Bloody Marvellous.
Was with the guys till 3.30 this morning - and don't I know it now. They all appreciate the significance of this win, even those new to England this season understand that this is far more important than all the other trophies that the Panthers have won . The Steelers hoodoo is no more.
A few other comments
I wonder how many Steelers fans stayed for their "Shirt Auction"? I thought they were tempting fate when I heard about this.
The steelers first goal was covered by Sunny until it deflected off Brent Bobyck's backside. I thought Sunny was magnificent over the two legs - certainly outshone Bronsard.
I too had the "Panthers are Pussies" banner shoved in my face and wonder what became of it
I thought Moray Hanson had a good game - being prepared to call that double penalty showed he meant business.
Now to the playoffs. Can't wait for Saturday!!

We did not play our normal, natural game and your guys were up for it. Craighead came to played hockey, and if you want to narrow it down to one area of the game where you had the advantage then there you go. JC had a big game - utterly focused. But then, the whole team were up for it and focused. They stuck to the game plan and it worked - just! Perhaps your team were feeling the hype and pressure on them, but Panthers wouldn't let you play the way you wanted lastnight. You had to chase the game and didn't look comfortable doing it. We had a lead to defend and for once we made a pretty fair job of defending it I'm delighted to say! ;D It's an old cliche - really did seem that we wanted it more than you lastnight - and it showed!

I thought Sunny was magnificent over the two legs - certainly outshone Bronsard. . . I thought Moray Hanson had a good game - being prepared to call that double penalty showed he meant business. I've not been a fan of Sunny for much of this season but he was very good lastnight. Superb positioning and anticipation, good rebound control and brave when the skates were flying. An unfussy but very efficient performance. Playing like that you can see why he caught the attention of the Rangers. Bronsard looked edgy by comparison. It was a brave call by Moray Hanson to give that early double penalty - absolutely correct but you don't often see the second penalty given during a delayed penalty call. It set down a clear marker for what he would tolerate and the game benefited as a result.

I thought Bronsard played well too actually. One save in particular when it was still 2 - 0 should have been 3 with Jinman and Cadotte 2 on 1, but he made a blinding save and not long after that it was 2 - 1. He also made 2 other excellent stops in the third when we could have had the game won. IMO Bronsard made the difference in getting the game to overtime.
