With a week until the first leg is played, this thread is going up early ... but lots are talking about it already so in an effort to keep the forum tidy here is the thread for the above games ... Despite recent results, rumours and counter rumours I remain cautiously optimistic and think we are in with a chance ... one thing's for sure, it won't be an easy ride.
Go Panthers ... keep the faith.

For once I'm quite glad I'll miss the home leg...will be watching the Florida Panthers in Toronto.
I think I've more chance of watching Panthers win that night than the Nottingham variety grinding out a lead for the 2nd leg.....Steelers have our number but they can only expect to win, at best, say 9 out of 10 games against us and next Tuesday could bring a surprise.
The first goal will be even more important than usual.

I think we've got a chance with this one! Ok yes Steelers have the upper hand............ they've won the league and beaten us in recent matches................but no one in this league is unbeatable! If we work as a team we are capable of alot! And as the fans i feel we need to get right behind the team and show them we do still have some faith!

Two choices. We can either sit at our computer and moan that we have no chance or we can make it the loudest night in N.I.C history. Even if some think that Adey can't motivate the players, Well maybe we can. How about we give it a shot?

this should be a good one, these are one off games and will be totally different to the league games. Lets hope the squeelers fall under the pressure a bit and like last season, not win many games with the season comin to a close.

Yes, we need to make lots of noise at this one, Will anyone be taking horns to the match now it has been confirmed we are allowed?

Everyone who follows the Panthers should be there and be shouting as loudly as they can. I think we can win if we get over the mental block we have with the Squealers.

Please PM me if your interested, they are about £1.50 inc. VAT and I will go get some and arrange to meet people?

COME ON PANTHERS!
This is a freaking huge match for both Panthers and Nottingham (as a city)
We simply have to win by 3 or 4 or i think we'll be in for a beating at their place. Does anyone know if there are any away ticks left for the second leg?

The first goal will be vital in these games. If the Panthers get it they will be in with a great chance if they can sort out their D but if the Steelers get the first goal, like the previous games, they should maintain the lead.
Should be a fab 2 games. Let the best team win.

i just hope adey has got some new tatics or maybe some sort of force field on our blue line like you have in sheffield. i mean 2 shots in the first period in belfast ( i think we kept them down to 5 shots, but 2) no one knows yet if Bronsard is a decent netminder or not because he hasn't faced enough shots or odd man rushes.

no one knows yet if Bronsard is a decent netminder or not because he hasn't faced enough shots or odd man rushes. Four shutouts and allowed just four goals in the last eight games... methinks there's a touch of the green-eyed monster emerging there Tim/Heja. Can't say I blame you, he was almost a Panther two years ago, it must be a bit irksome to see what you've been missing...

I think the first game is gonna be so tense, with both teams petrified of making a crucial mistake and then both teams knowing they gotta go for it at the HOS. I agree 1st goal is gonna be vital for whoever gets it.
Im glad we have the 2nd leg at Sheffield because as we saw in the footie p/offs (sorry to bring it up but i do have a point) with the fans behind you ANYTHING is possible. Steelers are one special team (5-0 to 5-5). We will take some stopping. At the HOS steel on Sat night ( when we won the league) all the players (although slightly...erm...tipsy) they were all 110% committed to getting the Grand Slam. And at Blaisers testimonial on Wednesday, they are talking the talk and boy, you can see how confident they are!
My prediction is a draw in Nottingham and I daren't make a prediction for the 2nd leg, but on what we have seen this season you are gonna need 6 goals to win!!!!
Come On Steelers.
Also, I hope your resident goon (JC) plays the game like he can because when he is playing to his best (earlier on in the season) he was by far your best player and that will make fot two far better games.

Welcome to the forum Gill I think the first game is gonna be so tense, with both teams petrified of making a crucial mistake and then both teams knowing they gotta go for it at the HOS. I agree 1st goal is gonna be vital for whoever gets it. Agree about the first game, particularly the first goal, it'll be crucial. As other people have said, not only will it give the team confidence, but if its Sheffield who score they have the ability to close the game down and not give us a single chance to get back into it. I'm praying with all my heart and soul that we see the JC of the first couple of months of the season!! He proved then he has the ability to turn games around, and no matter whats been going on off the ice recently, hopefully we'll get a stroke of luck and he can return to his old self. No doubt about that! I don't think theres a single person who can honestly say it won't be a battle to beat Sheffield. However, I believe we can win that battle...my heart is saying we can do it, my head is saying we can't. As ever though, I'll follow my heart! Two great games will be fantasic, but to get that Panthers need to show heart and passion and desire to win, something that seems to have been lacking recently...but again, I believe we can turn it around and win this. Have faith in the boys.

Thanks.
Here's hoping for two great games of Hockey.
I think any coach that can't get his team motivated for two games as big as these against your biggest rivals doesn't deserve to be called a coach.
I don't know the ins - and - outs of the "Adey lack of motivation" story but I seriously doubt that the Panfas won't be up for this.
Looking forward to the Steelers packing ur building and vice-versa. i don't know how much truth there is in this but last month I heard that the game at the HOS was already the biggest selling game of the season. So thats what, at least 7 thousand gonna be there - and that was last month.

Before last night i was full of doom for this game. but now i think we have put a slight crack in the steelers armour. I was begining to think we could never score again against them this season, but now i know we can. if we can just get the d working well, not concede the first goal, dont take dumb penalties(JC take note!), and put pressure on bronsard, who knows what can happen?
Here we go Panthers! ;D

After Saturday's performance i cant see us winning either legs. Even with Lawrence in the defence stopped most of our attacks, and with Bronsard back it could be another shut out.
