The Rangers get mugged by the Sabres! That'll probably knock the Rangers out of the Play Offs even though it was only game 5, it'll take a lot to get up off the mat from that. Jagr said the defeat is the hardest he's had to take in the last 5 years.

What a win !!! ;D ;D ;D
To come from behind like that yet again, but this was slightly more comfortable . Im feeling confident we can finish the sharks in 6 now . Our 2nd was hillarious , great intercept by Dats to make Nabbi cough the puck up laugh ;D
4-1 and the PP is on fire ;D

New Jersey who?? Ottawa Senators made it into the Eastern Conf final, after beating the NJD 3 - 2 last night, to take the series 4 - 1. In MY opinion this series was largely won & lost by the netminders. Brodeur was off his game & Emery was just so on top of his. Added to the fact that the Spezza, Heatley & Alfie line just looked rock solid. Bring on the Buffalo or the Broadway! ;D

NJ need abit more offence IMO.

NJ had similar problems to the canucks both teams in the regular season had solid defenses which was backed up by the offensive players. turn into the playoffs and both aspects of the game take a downward turn generally, with only glimpses of what both teams are capable of. The 'to do' list for next year for both teams must be new forwards.

Firstly, congratulations to Ottawa, they were by far the better team.
My thoughts on the series:
Simply put, New Jersey were outplayed. Don't know what was wrong with Marty the great, but he was poor and I'm sure he knows it. Ironic really that people only recognise just how good he is when he's not playing well. Wouldnt say that Emery was fantastic, he didnt need to be, be he was certainly solid enough. Jury is out until he is tested properly.
I was so let down by the Devils checking line. Madden, Pandolfo et al werent up to scratch at all. We have relied on them in past victories and they werent there. Real shame. Ottawa got scoring from everywhere, were stronger all round, and we couldnt compete when it mattered.
For next season; if the Devs can keep the forwards we have now (which I doubt) I will be happy, because for me there isn't too much wrong there. Parise is fantasic, as is Zajac, and both are young. The problem the Devs have had all year and especially in the playoffs is the back end. A lack of quality D-men and a lack of experience. Greene will get better, so will Martin, but we need more back there, a hell of a lot more.
With out wage cap problems resolved somewhat after this year, I hope we can build properly to compete again.
For the record, I will be supporting Anahiem from now as I picked them from the start, but would love to see the Sens win it.

Milo x There are rumours floating around Toronto, that the Leafs will make an effort to sign Gomez as a free agent. I think Gomez, along with Briere & Giguere will attract lots of attention this summer. Expect bidding wars folks. How have you done that with your stars? Ask Doughnut, he did it.

This easy division business keeps cropping up hey, put it this way you still have to beat teams from other divisions too, I make it 6 presidents cups in 10 years ;D But you play your division teams more than you do the rest of the west, so there for playing easier teams out your own division will get you more points on the board will it not? Add to the fact we´ve beat your lot 3-1 in our mini series this season including a 3-2 win at your building plus a 9-4 win in our building.. So i´ll say it now get your Andrex ready!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Hope ya got your Andrex ready!

Buffalo Sabres 2 - Ottawa Senators 5. I couldn't believe it after we (SENS) went 2 - 0 up inside the 1st few minutes, including a short handed effort, in the 1st period. My heart started to sink when they rallied & fought back to 2 - 2. Just a damn shame I fell asleep before the end of the 3rd period. I was shocked to see the final score of 5 - 2 to Senators. Not a bad result to get on the road. ;D ;D

The Sabres have dug themselves a big hole now, and given Ottawa has FINALLY sorted out that goaltending position, I can't see them buckling like they usually do in the post season.
Good luck to them
<said through gritted teeth>
;D
*edit*
There's also a rumour floating around that Ottawa's Ray Emery is a potential target for the Leafs this summer...

OH MY GOD!! Just finished watching the re-run of last nights game. I did originally stay up to watch the game 'LIVE' on NASN late night/early this morning, but after the 1st period of 20 mins overtime, & seeing as it was 4.30 am...I had to admit defeat & hit the sack. I was shaking watching the re-run just now, but was dancing like a loon when Joe Corvo bounced that puck into the net. To have a 2 - 0 lead in the series, & with the next 2 games being back @ Scotiabank Place, ya really do have to fancy us to win the conferrence, & make it to the Stanley Cup final. Shin... I REALLY hope the Emery to the Leafs rumour is just that...a rumour!

Shin... I REALLY hope the Emery to the Leafs rumour is just that...a rumour! I can't see Toronto making a play for him Wiggers, as that'd mean shipping out Raycroft who we gave up a great prospect for and Emery wouldn't come to the Leafs to be Raycroft's back up either. It does place Ottawa in a position though, as you'll have to sign Emery to good money but you signed Gerber only a year ago to a 3 year contract worth $11m. You'll have to trade him/or buy him out which would count against the cap.

I hope they trade Gerber in that case!
