I don't know Oz, whilst Brodeur is clearly a key part of the Devs side, Luongo plays a bigger part for Vanc.

Agreed man. Without luongo we'd be nowhere near the position we are. when he's not been in the net i think we've won 2 from 9. Our style of hockey means tight games (won 29 by the odd goal) and having that extra from your nettie makes a world of difference, by a long long long way our MVP. But general opinion in Vanc is that he's on the wrong side of N.America to win Hart!?!?

Except last year Vancouver finished 9th with 92 points, without Luongo.
Right now, Vancouver are 5th, with 96 points from 74 games.
So Luongo has probably made Vancouver a better team by about 12 points - not sure how you can say you'd be nowhere without him.
I dont have the figures of how many games NJ have won by the odd goal, but i bet its just as high as that, with a high number of 2 goal wins where one was am empty netter too.
This is unfortunatley yet again Brodeur being the forgotton man - First it was Roy, then Hasek, now Luongo - Marty simply doesnt get the recognition for being the best that he should.

It's true, as nothing was expected of the 'Nucks before the season began. It's amazing what a great goalie can do for you. I like Vancouver, and I'll be cheering for them come the NHL game in September.

I could have sworn it was Vancouver-LA...? Oh well, wont be cheering for them then
;D
I'll be a Kings fan for the day then, as it'll give me an excuse to buy one of the retro Kings jerseys.

What an incredible finale coming up. Toronto vs Montreal = Winners are in the play-offs. Losers are out.

But you're right about it being a cracker. I'll be glued to NASN! That'll be the one game I refuse to watch and in all honesty, I don't want them to quailify as they don't deserve it. They put no effort in last night against the Islanders. Hopefully Ferguson will be gone in the summer and although Maurice started of well, I don't want him back. Oh, and that goes for Raycroft & Sundin too.

Lucky for you we let you win the other night ;D

Lucky for you we let you win the other night ;D Toronto's win was a dominant one, but as per the norm, we made it harder on ourselves than it should have been. Time for the Leafs to hit the golf course and wonder what could have been. Hockey season is almost over for me

Beat Montreal at home and you're almost there!
I said at the start of the season that you'll go deep in the play-offs if you make it. It's the making it that would be the hard part!

The thing is it shouldn't be a case of beating the Habs in the final game, as Toronto had their destiny in their hands for so long. Blowing leads against NJ (when leading 6-2 in the 3rd and losing 7-6 on PS) and against Buffalo (leading 4-1 going into the third and losing 5-4) have just killed us. I wish the top brass would move McCabe & Kubina and opt not to re-sign Sundin. That'd be something like $15m saved which could turn the roster into something better. Wont happen though. I've spoken to lost of Leaf fans and they've said the current situation resembles the 1980's Toronto side. *sigh* *edit it's be more like $17m saved*

It's a pretty good UFA market this year too. I can see us spending huge on number one centres and a star d-man

The Leafs beat the Habs 6-5 last night in a game that had little in way of goaltending but was great end to end stuff.
Montreal were dejected when the final buzzer went and I just hope the Devils beat the Islanders tonight. Toronto face the Sabres in round one IF we make it which means ay early exit.

Only a few games left in the regular season, Philadelphia lead Buffalo 2-1 in the second.
Vanek for the Sabres, but Gagne & Ruzicka have levelled for the Flyers.
Pominville & Roy have now scored, so the Sabres lead 3-2. Knuble & Richards make it 4-3 Flyers and that's how it ends.
