Agree with Oldman on his comments about Rasto. You win games by scoring goals. I actually enjoyed last nights game, knew that having a one goal lead was never going to be good enough against Steelers, seen it too many times before. Like the new bloke, give him a few more games and i think he will be much better than Shepperd imo. Not worth saying anymore about he game just very disappointed with the result. BTW Oldman, you got a problem with block 7? i for one wouldn`t sit anywhere else.

See what I mean about the "ignore" button. Using it takes all the pleasure out of reading the rivalry from both teams. The usual protagonists are at it hammer and tongue after the game on both forums. You cannot get this level of humour any where else for free.

No. A misconduct can't run concurrent to a minor, you must serve the minor, then the misconduct starts. If that is the case nemesis how come two different players served each penalty? I dont get how that works... My thoughts on the game... 1. IF you can only score one goal at home you will lose alot more than you win..... period... We needed to pick up alot more from the rebound king and really get under his skin, this just did not happen at all, all night. So no surprises people are saying he had a good game he only had to stop the first shot which is what he did as panthers hardly followed this up all night. 2. Whilst on this subject, Rasto he is being villified for letting in the first goal, i was right behind the net and he stopped the first shot (netminders duty) it was the defences job to clear the rebound, they didnt do it.... frustrating sat there watching Tait (AGAIN!!! why doesnt someone cripple that nemesis against us!!) have a free shot on goal but noone stopped him again the defences job... 3. If last night didnt make it clear we need a solid power forward centre then i defy all who watched werent watching properly. Winning only about 20% of the face offs will not help your team(there was only Myers who won them regularly) that is not good enough ever... 4. Tend to agree with Bram, let Shmyr off the leash and see if he is as tough as we think he is. Last night he should have done a Nieckar (on Vial) and showed that Cornish isnt even good at the one thing he IS paid to do, all he did was show that he has restraint, BIG DEAL.. Gave steelers all the momentum IN OUR ARENA no wonder finnerty et all lorded it over the panthers...Should never have been allowed regardless of what it cost us in penalties... Steelers did a good smash and grab on the points last night lets hope they arent allowed to steal them again...

The stay at home D men that are being moaned about, have joined the forwards on PPs to try and get goals for the fans who are always shouting "shoot" when we have the puck in front of goal. They come up for that reason, to give a few more options to score the afore mentioned goal. If they stayed back in the D, then it would be our 3 forward against their 4 players, that would not give you any room and would easily nullify the advantage we had. What would you want, a PP unit that will never score or stay at home D men trying to stop the rush. Yes there are going to be goals scored against us by teams on PKs, but you have to stick with it. Losing to your biggest rivals always hurts, but that's sport. It would be very boring if we knew the outcome before the event. The match was one of the best between the teams that I have seen in the last 4 years or so, I would sooner have games like that and be entertained than win 6-0 every week. If that happened, you tend to become big headed and expect to win and when you don't, you look for the slightest excuse to blame someone for it. Losing hurts, but it's only a game no matter how it's served up.

Good point Tex. I have no idea then...
I was under the impression that something + something could run together, the only exception being misconduct which is a personal penalty. You have to serve the team part if you get a double and then the clock starts on your personal one by which time the team has a man back. As we have seen with the Shep discussion, the opinion is that it would be unfair to penalise a team for a personal penalty, how was this different last night?

At the risk of sounding thick here, I still don't understand why - when Jody was given his 2+10 - there was only one steeler in the box. I thought they ran concurrently so you would have 2 steelers in the box for 2 minutes and the remaining steeler in there for the last 8 minutes? IIRC Finnerty went in to sit the penalty but I reckon Boniface and his officials forgot to add the 2nd man as I seem to recall Cornish going into the box during a break in play when there was 30 seconds left on the 2 minute penalty (so that he could come out at the end of the 2 minutes - although actually I thought I saw Finnerty back on the ice and Cornish serve the 10 minute).

I think you have answered your own question. Err, have I? Unless you're saying that ME's signed 3 offensive D (Corey, Danny and Pele) to one defensive (Bob), for the purpose of us having better PP lines, then I'm gonna need a clue

I thought it was a great game between 2 good teams. Was disappointed with the result and knew what would happen when Corey got the 2 mins.
Sitting, as I do, in block 11. The view of the Thomas incident with Corey was possibly not the best. I seem to think he was sliding in to poke the puck away but was late took Corey out below the knees. Surely then this should have been penalised. Minimum 2 minutes for tripping but I felt 2+10 or 5+Game for slew-footing would have been more appropriate.

As we have seen with the Shep discussion, the opinion is that it would be unfair to penalise a team for a personal penalty, how was this different last night? so from that Nem what you are saying is that Jodie (or any other keeper... ) can take personal penalties all night and not get penalised for them as goalies dont serve penalties and you think it unfair to penalise the team?.. rubbish.. All goalies should serve imho any penalty that is not a 2 min minor and maybe that should be looked at too. If jodie would have had to have served his 2mins for deliberate delaying of the game with 30secs left sat night maybe it might stop goalies dislodging their net "by accident"... Also Glynn as i saw it what happened was the bench tried to get cornish to serve the goalie penalties, which when it was pointed out that he wasnt on the ice they then put in the box finnerty to serve the penalties... fine. But then after about a min and a half with a stoppage in play finnerty came back on the ice and cornish then went in with i think one of the brits, who served the remainder of the 2 mins and was back on the ice with finnerty who then went on to assist on the "goal". Now i dont care who we played i am annoyed that this change of personnel was allowed. For starters if a player was "chosen" to represent the keeper then thats it a choice was made end of?... to then swap and change at will cant be right can it? Plus Cornish definitely wasnt on the ice to represent the keeper (i dont know about the other kid so cant say one way or the other) so how could he be an adequate replacement?... All in all a sour way to play the game and i am sure the Great toeman would have handed out several delaying the game penalty for messing the game about, shame it was boniface who doesnt really seem to have an idea when it comes to manipulative teams flounting the rules...

Steelers did a good smash and grab on the points last night lets hope they arent allowed to steal them again... Pretty fair assesment. Bergin did well off a lot of face offs tho? The ones he didnt win he managed to tie the guy up. Maybe not, I didnt pay that much attention. The penalty thing is a farce. Despite all the quotes yourself and Nem have found I still think (from the rulebook of past experience!) Jody should sit the 10 himself. 10mins is a MAJOR, it is a PERSONAL penalty so whats the point in someone else sitting it? The only thing that it helped to do was put him one move away from a game miscounduct. The fact no one knew what was going on and 2 different people sat the penalty (no one sat it to start with even after the bloke in the box left the door open and shouted to the ref!!) makes the game look pathetic. Thomas may have deserved a penalty for his hit but lets face it, Corey took exception to a hit, pummeled a guy into the ice, would not stop when the linos went in, drew blood and it was all evened up by Jody leaving the crease so I think its safe to say we came off pretty well from the altercation!

I haven't had the time to read the whole thread, but I wanted to ask one question:
It seemed to me the first Steelers goal went in after Rasti saved a shot resulting in him lying in the goal and never getting up again. He seemed to be basking in his own glorey and then whooosh, it was behind him! (as they all chant regularly) When he did get up he appeared to be un-injured and only ashamed. What was that all about? why did he just lay there?
