We seem to be very consistant at home. Come out flying, with a shaky middle period. Then end the game by finally killing it off.
I will be happy with more like this, as it leads for an entertaining game and we come out with the win. What's funny is all the people that moan around me when the other team get a few goals are soon kissing their badges come the final hooter. Talk about not being able to take the rough with the smooth.
Anyway, thought the lines seem to have more chemistry about them and Levers did well after being thrown on the 1st line. Hope Johan is okay, noticed he came back on after his initial rest period and then didn't come back out again. Hope it's precautionary.
The fight I would say Ryan did win. Stefishen did get a good early shot in, but Ryan landed a lot more and got the take down. Speaking of the Caps enforcer, I thought our very own Jono had jumped on with the Caps. Did anyone else notice the similarity between Stefishen and Jono??? ;D
Anyway, it was a late one and but a good 'un....

Edinburgh call a 30 second time-out............but someone forgot to bring the the board onto the bench!
By the time they'd fetched it from the dressing room, the time-out was over ;D

meh, what a night, Edinburgh midweek, I did think why bother....
Now i think... "yeah why did I bother". We barely deserved to win that. how did we let them come back with 2 goals in quick succession? They had a 'panto fight' as some like to call it. It fired them up. They dedicated it to Stefieschen (sp?). No place in hockey for pre arranged fights? I think that proves other wise.
We hada 5- 2 lead and struggled to hold it. Edinburgh were clever. Made some good plays, adapted to our playing style. We just tried the same stuff and it happened to work tonight.
Whoever it was who shouted Rasto you suck... probably zukwiskyfan.... spot on. He was flapping around on the wrong side of the net while they got the wrap around pretty much. Evan Lindsay anyone?
as for the late face off and someone burning the cheeseburger... should probably get someone i nthe kitchen who can read english instructions. I hope they get fired... twice

A win is a win but for me Mike Ellis got it wrong tonight and it could of cost us.
At least two of Edinburgh's goals were scored with two or more inexperienced Brits on the ice and it showed. Give them ice time by all means but lets make sure we win the game.

Well that was an eventful evening! Warm up delayed by broken Plexiglas and completed with the panel missing. Then a few minutes into the game off went the fire alarm and out we all troop to admire the fire engines. Mind you, I think we went back into the arena quicker than we evacuated it! ;D Eventually the hockey got going and it turned out to be a very entertaining game. The Capitals look a much improved team and came to play hockey. They applied good pressure at times and had the speed and skill to hurt us, especially when we got sloppy. A good first period for us and the two late goals were a fair reflection of our dominance with the top line sparkling. Caps hit penalty problems as they were chasing the game. The fight seemed to galvanise the Capitals (I thought Shymr edged it though he was rocked by a couple of bombs) and we lost momentum (and goals!) and ended floundering somewhat and taking penalties accordingly. Losing Molin didn't help as the re-shuffled lines lines didn't seem as potent. Richardson did plenty of effective fore checking - he had a good game all round. McAslan goes from strength to strength and was MoM for me though Wallenburg is showing his ability more and more. After the delay and evacuation I said (jokingly) there'd be no penalties called in the game to get it finished - should have known better with Andy Carson reffing it! though in truth he called a good game and I didn't disagree with many calls. Mind you, we must have had just about every possible way of delaying a hockey game known to man tonight! Another goal fest and a thoroughly entertaining game.

Teddy why don't you just chuck the towel in and not bother anymore cause your negativity is getting pretty boring now. Rasto played ok in my opinion. As already said two of the goal were scored with almost a complete line of kids on the ice. I thought i was an entertaining game, not sure Edinburgh would have come back so strong if we had kept the kids off the ice. Hope Molin is ok, nothing on website about any serious injury so fingers crossed.

Think I have to agree with Mark here. Give the Brits with less experience ice time by all means but not at crucial moments.
I enjoyed the first the third periods. The Caps are a big improvement on last season and didn't allow us time and space on the puck. We were a bit fortunate to finish the first two up.
The last period was a bit scary. We did wonder if it would be the third thing to go wrong. ;D

I hope they get fired... twice Sorry Ted, but I can't agree with your point of view, but you're entitled to it, just as I'm entitled to mine. Who is right... probably neither of us but here's my 10 cents. 1) Fire evacuation thingy. It was a bit farcical but none of us burnt to death and at least where I was sitting we had some pretty good jokes about it. As fot staff not being able to read english.... I suppose it could be seen as harsh but taken in the correct manner I can see where Ted is coming from. It took me ages to get a pepsi against Belfast. The girl behind the counter just didn't understand me. That's another topic anyway. 2) Rasto. Rasto sucks? are you serious? He made some big saves tonight and before we conceded goal 3 he made a double save which his d twice failed to clear. Goal 4 was also a defensive error which left him exposed. Yep we conceded 4 tonight but saying Rasto sucks just wouldn't really paint a true picture (IMHO). 3) Brits. Did very well tonight and when iced looked sharp until we gave up 2 cheap goals in quick succession. I think Ellis went a step too far and gave them too much time if anything. Neil is really starting to impress me. 4) The Ref, our dear friend Mr Carson. He had a good game tonight and this is someting that puzzles me. Some nights he calls a cracking game, lets it flow and penalties are called when neccessary, other nights he's off the chain with call after call after call. Fair play tonight though, round of applause for Andy and last but not least 5) The fight. View from front of block 6. Caps player drops his gloves, Ryan looks at him and clearly say 'Do you wanna go?' then drops his gloves. The early going Shymr got owned with a massive left hook and a few jabs, however after that he landed a few and as the Caps player went to pull him down, he used his weight to spin and land on top. Shymr was landing punches whereas I fell the Caps player was just tring to b*tch slap Shymr after that whopper of a left hook. I'd edge it to Shymr but it was close.

At least two of Edinburgh's goals were scored with two or more inexperienced Brits on the ice and it showed. Aye, that struck me as being a mistake. Leaving the youngsters out after after a Capitals goal allowed them to grab the momentum and for a while it looked as though they'd overwhelm us. We were playing two imports short of course after Molin left the game so the British lads had to have more ice time but even so there is a time and a place....

oh give it a rest (not you martin ).... for crying out loud.... to be honest everyones positive happy clapping attitude winds me up.... thats partially why i do it. If i dont post a differnet opinion 9 out of 10 will say its an incredible performnce and we will win the league, rasto should have a knighthood and ellis is god.... but so far this is just nowhere near the case. If you dont wanna read what I have to say just skip on by. I do most the happy clapping posts. Rasto... not just this game... has sucked. Ive said it beofre and Im pretty sure I will say it again. I have yet to see one convincing performance out of this years team, ive seen good plays, Ive seen great goals, Ive seen good goaltending but ive never seen it consistently over one match, never mind the rest of the season.

Well the game itself was entertaining enough, but this trend of having a dominating first period and then letting it slip is starting to concern me... Coventry or Sheffield won't let the opportunities slip like Caps and Giants. Rasto had his big saves, but yes he was left stranded on one or two occassions.
I think Mark Richardson is now playing 3rd fiddle to Myers and Levers, who were both immense tonight! Richardson just doesn't seem on the pace yet.... but I do hope he gets there. And the big earners, Wally, Macca and Drouin all looked like they earned it tonight. As others have said on here, possibly a mistake giving the youngsters ice time towards the end with contributed to at least one of the goals.
All that said, we look unstoppable coming forward at times, so if we keep working on some of the issues I still have high hopes for the season!

. Whoever it was who shouted Rasto you suck... probably zukwiskyfan.... spot on. He was flapping around on the wrong side of the net while they got the wrap around pretty much. Evan Lindsay anyone? Its really gonna help his confidence people shouting 'you suck' at him "People" dont pay to go to games to increase Rastos confidence though buddy. If they want to shout their opinion on a play why shudnt they. As long as it doesnt get personal about something off ice or bad language is used he or she is entitled to scream and shout at the players. Decent game. Panthers in complete control until Stefishen went out to fire his team up, edged a fight with Shmyrsy and broke the passage of play up totally. The next shift the caps were fired up and scored. The next shift they had beleif and were fired up... and scored again. If Stefishen hadnt done his job and fired the team up it would have continued being 1 sided until the end. But hey, who needs fighting in hockey, it doesnt do any good or make difference to games eh! Rasto, well hes consistent. Consistently inconsistent! Not really his fault though, our D didnt clear the net, clear his rebounds or get nasty and own the slot. Hes a small goalie and flaps around.. people say that like that means he will let goals in but we all know what he is like and we arnt playing to help him. Scoring 6 against a decent team with big D is positive, Wallenburg played like hes had a rocket inserted in him! the overall performance didnt befit that of a team challenging for the title tho tbh

Its really gonna help his confidence people shouting 'you suck' at him glad we got the win, edinburgh are a much better team than they were last year, we did well to say we have a line full of Kids defending at some points, an import down, and Molin didn't play for the 3rd period! it was tight at the end, but we won! so i'm happy, 2 points to us. i think that guy Whoever it is wants chucking out of the arena personally! idiot! as is the guy who threw his cap on the ice after Mac scored his 2nd goal!

Give them ice time by all means but lets make sure we win the game. I'm afraid I have to agree. 2 goals tonight in a tight game that shouldn't have been tight. The goal to get Giants back to 5-4 18 seconds after we should've killed it by going 5-3 up. Give them ice time, but when we are 4-0 or 5-0 up. One of these days, that tactic will cost us a point or two. That could be the difference between winning and losing the league. I thought the time out white board incident was wonderful too. And can someone answer me this? From what I heard (and this may be wrong) Stefishen got a minor and a 5 for fighting. Meyers got a minor Shmyr 5 for fighting Those penalties were coincidental and didn't show on the clock. How can that be? Caps had 1 player penalised, Panthers had 2? Shouldn't Caps have had a 2 minute 4 on 3, then the Panthers the same, later? I thought penalties were only coincidental and not showing if there was a penalty up there already, or is that just for minors and not majors? And isn't Stefishen a bit of an animal? Clear win to him, I think. All action LNAH style! Finally, I liked the way Edinburgh played and never lost hope. Christiansen is an excellent leader, and Hemingway is a super player. They'll surprise a few people this year.
