BUT CALLE IS OUT !!
From NEP
PC Drouin- one of the stars of the Superleague era - is back at Nottingham Panthers.
The 33-year-old winger, who led the scoring for Panthers for two seasons in 2001-03 before heading off to find fame and fortune in Europe, returns as player-assistant coach.
And with D-man Corey Neilson also re-signing and becoming fitness and conditioning coach, it means there is no room for Calle Carlsson in Mike Ellis's permanent backroom team.
The Swede, who spent five seasons as a player for the club before becoming assistant coach and chief scout last season, will, however, continue in a scouting role for the club.
Head coach Ellis, who flew on a scouting mission to North America today, said: "After all the euphoria of last month when we won the play-offs, it's unfortunate that we could not renew Calle's contract.
"But everything is amicable and he will be doing some scouting for us in Sweden, if he decides to go back there.
"But by being able to offer PC the assistant coach's job, it means we have beaten a lot of clubs in signing a top-end player who has led his team scoring wherever he has been.
"Corey had also interested a few teams in Europe but as he runs his own conditioning and fitness camp in North America, it makes sense to utilise that expertise here."

Shocked about Calle, & gutted for him too. However, it does continue to show that Coach Ellis, has got balls to make changes when needed, even if he knows they aren't going to be popular. Hats off to him for that.

Top, top signing guys.
By the look of some of the signings made, and some of the rumours doing the rounds (About various clubs), do we think the cap has gone up this year?
Serious question BTW, no insinuations being made.......

Gobsmacked Really didn`t see that coming about Calle, i`ve always been a big fan of his. :Regarding the signings very pleased with the signing of PC hope he hasn`t lost any of that magic. When he left last time i think he said that there would always be a chance of him returning. Welcome back. Like some one as already said can we have the play off Corey playing for us next season please.

Absolutely over the moon!! sad to see Calle go i just hope it was in good terms.
Drouin if hes anywhere near as good as he was then he'll be one of the best to play in this league, would imagine it wont affect the cap too much with him also beeing AC.
Neilson im very pleased about and was expecting him to go, a big d-man who scores major points and now with a season under his belt should be even better. this has officially made my month!!

;D Well happy about this! Neilson is a big game player which we have lacked over the years. With regards to being happy if we get the play-off Neilson back where were u last season! Yes he made mistakes but overall he was amazing ALL season! Even if he doesn't play like he did in the play-offs I'm a very happy man! With regards to PC Shocked but well happy! Looking very positive indeed and sounds like players are being signed not just in terms of playing but training, coaching etc which can only be a good thing. Well done Mr Ellis Just one thing BRITS! Only thing worrying me now its seems its now all resting on Clarke coming back and that doesn't sound very lightly

Drouin at one end, if we get Rasto back at the other we should play for penalties every game next year. A league title will be ours.......

Aside from Boynton, PC is probably the most talented player I have ever seen in a Panthers shirt. For his playmaking and scoring ability, he has to be on a par with Jinman; Gallant and Tessier. Given that he also has a more physical presence, I am delighted to have him back. ;D If we get the Play-Off version of Corey back every week, I'll be a happy man, but I just hope we have a speedy partner with him on the blue line to sweep up when he gets caught out on the opposition's blue line! A difficult decision for Calle, who has been a great servant and asset to the Club over the years, but you can understand why he wants to return home to Sweden with his new family. Even if he does find employment outside hockey, you can bet he'll still be on the lookout for some suitable Scandanavian talent to point in our direction. Many thanks Calle, and good luck for the future for you and your family. Roll on September!

I wouldn t be suprised If Ellis has dangled a carrott to entice Matt and Clarkie back now.
On a other note If PC has half the talent he once had that would still make him a darn sight batter than what will be in the EIHL next season

have a sneaky feeling Koulikov will be coming our way, we'll almost definitely keep Cooke and hopefully Ferrera and as long as we keep hold of either Myers or Clarke il be well happy!!

Pleased with both signings.
As for lack of Brits, with the main core of British players already snapped up, the biggest two left are Matty and Clarkie. But that is all out skaters, Perhaps part of the PC deal is Stevie Lyle. As much as I want Rasta back, Lyle would mean an extra import forward, taking Clarke's place. But thats all speculation.

The problem with that would be if Lyle was injured we'd have to release/deregister an outskater to replace him. I'd rather we went with an import goalie myself. Excellent signings, very pleased. ;D

I'm.......... surprised by these two signings if I'm honest. Neither was on my priority list - as if that counts for anything! ;D PC was an awesome player in his first season with us but didn't have the same impact the following year after Strudder had left. Despite the passing years PC should be a force to be reckoned with in the EIHL next season given the right support. Corey showed he is a Big Game player come the Play-offs. I'm a bit concerned because to win the League (the Big trophy in this country) every game is a big game. Fingers crossed that lesson has been learned. Interesting choices - but I've got confidence in Mike Ellis' team building abilities. Think I'll give up trying to second guess who he's going to sign in future though! I hope Calle has something sorted out for the future - he's been a good servant for the Club over the years and deserves some recognition.

Got to see PC towards end of last season playing for Morzine and he still looked amazing, awsome signing, and the man just about every1 wanted rid at the beginning of the season but he turned it around for the playoffs, Corey Neilson, I just hope he can have a full season of how he played in the playoffs.
if PC is assisant coach, do his full wages count to the cap?

PC Drouin ?!! Good God ! Jinman will be back next LOL. Didn't expect that one. Very pleased to have him back though. Lovely puck handling and that's not something you lose with age. Could deke a netminder out of his shorts on one on ones. Neilson ? I'm somewhat indifferent towards his signing, but if he's not being paid above his abilities, I don't mind having him. If we get play off Corey would be a different matter, but you can't do that for a handful of games and not the rest of the season. The fitness thing is welcomed however as in many a game our guys seemed to die on their a***s in the third. Good luck in your future career Calle. I have more faith than ever in Ellis these days. I'm not used to feeling optimistic as a Panthers fan, but a few more signings along these lines and we're gonna be sitting very pretty

Absolutely delighted with Drouin's return, quality player who I'm sure will be one of the leagues top players. A bit indifferent about the return of neilson but he put points on the board last season and like others have said, if we get the play-off Neilson back I'll be happy. If coaching salaries do not count towards the cap, then this is yet another canny move by Mike Ellis. Onwards & upwards
