Mrsminer is gutted......it's a triple whammy!!! Calle Carlsson, one of her all time favourites is leaving. The inconsistent Corey Neilson has re-signed. And PC Drouin is back. mrs felt that when he was last here he was arrogant, sometimes lazy, a bit mardy - gave up too many penalties, particularly retaliatory ones, would hide in some games especially when it wasn't going his way..........all in all not quite a TEAM player. I hope we don't get that version of PC too often. I hope mrsminer is wrong about this......she usually ISN'T! Seconded! Gutted Calle is going - double gutted Corey is returning!!! How come playing well for a handful of games at in the playoffs makes up for a season of slack defending? As for PC - v skilled player, awesome - but did seem lazy towards end of his last stint here. Hopefully he will come back raring to go though and be the great player we know he can be!

Ok then 'Bramley'. Would you care to discuss why you think Rasto is a special case? Why do you think if he was signing he'd have been announced, but no other player re-signing would have been? Just seems a tad odd & random thing to say.

Lyle was solid in Slovenia and I would have no problem in seeing him as our number one netminder.
When Lindsay went to pot last season it took us a long time to get a good enough replacement in. Surely we would have the same situation if we had an import netminder that got injured, so in theory it doesnt matter that much whether we have an import or Brit between the pipes. I appreciate that we would have to get rid of another import, but a good replacement netminder is going to take a while to get in anyway.

but if you have lyle as your no1 nettie and have to replace it would probably have to be with an import, then you would have to release one of your import skaters and destabalise either th forward lines or defence at the same

If memory serves, we didn't need to cut an import when Rasto was injured this season, or am I missing something?

it was hardly an odd and random thing to say, it was my opinion, no more odd and random than saying he might still sign. im not saying ive heard anything just that seems the situation he was in regarding being so loved by the fans, probably not on a particulary high wage and Ellis already commenting he wants to build from the back id of thought if he was going to be re-signed it would of already happened and that i think Ellis is now scouring for other options.
im quite happy to be proved wrong though, id love the little fella back, just dont think its going to happen now.

You still can't answer the question. Why is it you think (Yes I accept it is your opinion) because Rasto hasn't signed yet, he isn't going to? Do you think no others are going to be signed from last years squad, simply because they haven't signed yet?
I aint having a go, just puzzled as to your thinking.

Wasn't Rasto with us last year because his team in Slovakia were in a no relegation season, so were trying out a couple of younger netties? So won't he just be going back there? That said, would be great to see him back

Lay off the lad Heatley I thought that if he was going to sign, he would do quickly but you don't know. His play-offs have probably attracted some new suitors.

Wasn't there something about Rasto going home very quickly after the play-offs to be with a sick daughter? (or something like that). Who knows - maybe his personal situation is still somewhat unresolved, and he's not prepared to make ANY decision yet? Just a thought...

OK Wooly wasn't totally up to Rasto's standard, but we got through his injury period, so perhaps people are worrying too much about what MIGHT happen if whoever our No1 nettie is gets injured.

Still can't believe we've gone for Neilson again. Just seems like we're accepting adequate again.

What concerns me is that the most all round complete defender IMO (Krajicek) has not been re-signed and there has been no 'inside rumours' mentioning him so far.

well actually i did put why i think he wont sign now in my last post, il just make it a bit clearer.
would of thought as he was so loved and did so well he would of been one of the first to be offered a contract.
doubt very much he would of been on that higher wage
Ellis already claiming he wants to build from the back, surely if hes already got a netty he wants then why not sign him up, if Rasto has been offered a contract then like i said earlier he probably hasnt got a long list of alternatives so would of thought he'd of been announced already.
those few reasons together are why i dont think he'l be here next season, again happy to be proved wrong though

MR NEGATIVE take your knife out of his back upshall. Corey was a bit more than adequate in the playoffs! New season give the guy a break please!
Bring back Sebastian if only as the go to guy for the moaners.

He's a defenseman first, a point producer second. It was a good points return, but he negated some of that with his sloppy defensive performance.

This discussion would benefit no end if this league had a +/- stat neilson had alot of points but how many did we concede when he was to busy attacking. Im willing to give neilson the benefit of the doubt, overall he did get better as the season went on so maybe this year he could excel.

Exactly how many goals do you remember him being responsible for being given away? The only two I can think of where a D Man passed to opposition player and they scored was Meyers, and look how many people love him.

IMO he more than made up with his defensive skills by stopping almost certain goals many times, when there was just him against afew attackers (yes and the goalie) and he did the right move at the right time. Sure i remember afew goals he let in from sloppy passing, but i also remember myers and clarke and even SM all passing to opposition players who went on to score. It happens, but CN to me made alot of things to make up for his mistakes just like clarke did with his goals etc.
