According to britishicehockey.co.uk the final score is Lions 3-5 Warriors.

That's correct. Robinson made it 3-2 to the Lions but the Warriors scored twice and added an empty net goal to clinch it. Colm Cannon was man of the match for the Lions.

I wouldn't go that far - bear in mind how we fared against Whitley in the regular season and how the teams finished at the end of the season. Obviously it's going to be an uphill struggle from here for us but it's by no means done and dusted. After that we still have at least two more games, against either Peterborough or Invicta, for the ENIHL National Championship, which is separate to the playoffs, but we don't know when they'll be yet.
So next up is Sheffield. I do appreciate it's Easter weekend but with no Panthers game on I hope a few of you will make it to our game. I'm sure a lot of you enjoyed the last Lions-Scimitars game a few weeks ago - I know I did.
We may also need help with off-ice officials, such as goaljudges and penalty box attendants for that game. If you would like to do our team a massive favour and help us out in this way, please send me a PM or email manager@nottinghamlions.co.uk. Thank you

Not all bad news. I've had one taker for off-ice officials on Sunday so far - she knows who she is, so thank you

End of 1st: Lions 1-1 Scimitars. Robinson scored after the goalie gave up several rebounds, assisted by Colegate and Idoine. Sheffield equalised with a slick move. The only penalty on Sheffield in the period was a 2+10 for checking from behind.

End of 2nd: still 1-1. Lions took 10 shots in the 1st and faced 5.

Result: Lions 1-1 Scimitars. Apparently a rather uneventful game. Norton was man of the match for the Lions.

Hoping for a favour here from one of you Lions bods. Week before last (16th Mar) when you guys played Whitley Bay, we (Nottingham Knights) were on after you.
One of the guys who trained with us had one of his sticks removed from the bench and I was wondering if it could have been taken by the Lions kit man by mistake in the cross over. I know there were some Lions sticks in the bench area still when we sat on it, but could on of you kind fellows check to see if an extra stick showed up out of nowhere?
It's a white/green Nike/Bauer Vapour XXX and it was on the Panthers home bench.
Thanks,
Rob

Weird game to watch. Some players afterwards commented that it was like a scrimmage, and I sort of agree. The game flowed from end to end, but at the same time not a great deal happened. It was just about what you'd expect of a game featuring two teams with fixtures to fulfil but not a great deal left to play for. For the Lions in the playoffs, that is true. However for the whole season we are still trying to keep going at full tilt so that when the Southern Championship games are announced, and subsequently the ENIHL Championship games are scheduled, we can be ready for either Peterborough or Invicta. On a personal note, I'd like to take the opportunity to say thank you to those who helped us out as penalty box attendants and goaljudges this weekend. We greatly appreciate the help you gave us and it made the managers' jobs that little bit easier. Now, as a courtesy to a friend I have already invited one of our goaljudges to do it again next weekend, and like the star she is, she has agreed to help us out again. I'd like to now extend that invitation for help to our other volunteers from last week, and to anyone else who would like to help us out at our game against Newcastle. Given how they've played in the past I imagine the away penalty box attendant may be quite busy this weekend . If you would like to help out, please email manager@nottinghamlions.co.uk. Thank you Lions v Newcastle Vipers, Sunday March 30th, Faceoff 7:15pm.

If you would like to help out, please email manager@nottinghamlions.co.uk. Thank you Lions v Newcastle Vipers, Sunday March 30th, Faceoff 7:15pm. Don't bother emailing, we're away and won't pick up any email until after Sunday's game. If you want to help, then PM Ed, as he seems more than capable of organising stuff without our help.

End of 1st: Lions 3-0 Newcastle. Sam Bullas has scored a hat trick, the first of which was a long shot that the goalie misjuged, the second was shorthanded, and the third was an easy tap in. Lions are dominating and the Vipers are taking stupid penalties.

End of 2nd: Lions 5-1 Newcastle. The Vipers scored first with a soft goal from a long shot, then Ashley Calvert scored two for the Lions. Lots of scrappy penaties are being called now.

Result: Lions 8-1 Newcastle. Bullas scored his fourth (and got man of the match), Graham and Robinson scored the other goals. There were a few misconducts and I'm told that one of the Vipers got 5+Game for a cross-check to Luke Thomas' face.
All in all a good win for the Lions, well done, keep building momentum for the national final vs whoever wins the southern conference (but I have a feeling it'll be a while before we find that out).

Thankfully there was no lasting damage from that cross check to Luke Thomas, and I won't do any jokes about improving his looks. The guy who did it at least had the grace to check on Luke as he walked back to the dressing room. The Lions played well against a very physical Vipers side. Bullas deserves the credit for his four goals, as does Calvert for his brace, but what surprised me was just how many Lions players got on the scoresheet - quite a few players got assists, though sadly Alan Levers failed in his attempts to claim one from the bench. Apart from that, I was impressed with the way our players handled themselves on the ice. There were a lot of penalties called where Vipers players were trying to play a very physical style of hockey and were perhaps overzealous, but due to a combination of great coaching, maturity and self-discipline, the Lions were able to rise above it and keep penalties to a minimum. It's Sheffield next weekend and although neither team has anything to play for in the playoffs, you can guarantee both teams will be going full tilt for personal pride. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be there - I wish I could say I was going to the Elite League finals, but instead I'm going to a wedding fair After that, well, we're looking at the end of April or start of May for our games against the ENIHL Southern Conferences Champion. Whether it's Invicta or Peterborough, we'll definitely have two more cracking games before the season finishes .

We have a provisional date for the ENL League Championship. It's dependant on who qualifies but as soon as we have confirmation from the NIC that the ice is definately booked we can release the date.

Whitley beat Peterborough in the game at Coventry 7 - 3 . Lots of penalties...but then it was Blaine Evans as ref..

I'd like to suggest that the problem was not entirely Evans. Draw a comparison, if you will, between the number of abuse calls given to the Lions in his games compared to the number given to their opponents. Staying out of the box is an underrated factor in winning.
So yeah we've a home game on the 27th, but we don't yet know our opponent. Peterborough host Invicta next Saturday, with the return leg the following night. The Islanders will have a few players missing after they were ejected from the playoff final, but the Dynamos have struggled in Peterborough this season. Recently the two teams played a Cup "quarter final" and as honours were even over two legs they played a penalty shootout after the second leg, in what one informed observer called "the match of the season at the Ice Bowl".
Either way, these should be great games as should the games between the Lions and the Southern Conference Overall Champion to follow.

Apparently Peterborough are playing Kingston in the Cup that weekend so if they beat Invicta our game will be delayed.
