Shame we didn't get to see who our man of the match was. For me it was Corey Neilson - he's taken a lot of stick this year but tonight he had easily his best game of the season and really stood out. Absolutely immense performance by him! A close second would have been Rasti who made a number of excellent stops. The team has a whole too had a very good game, our defense did as well as I'd seen it do all season (in comparison to there's which wasn't particularly brilliant). So a win at last! We still have it all to do though because they're going to come out of the blocks flying tomorrow night - they weren't bad themselves tonight. Advantage Panthers but there's still a lot to do. Really wish I could be there tomorrow night.

I sit in block 4 and I thought it was bad that the fans are so personal with other fans. It's a game at the end of the day and let the players get on with it. Yer the fans get involved because they want their team to win but come on.........CHILL OUT it's just a game.
I thought that it was a great game and what Darby did was shocking, he isn't playing so stay out of it he can't do anything about it as he doesn't have a shirt on.
Going to be hell on Sunday so we'll see hope it doesn't get out of hand.
WELL DONE PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just hope no one gets hurt tommorow, for there personal stake and also our play off run, i mean if we win the quarters dont wanna go through with a short bench, and if dirty tactics employed dont want either team going out to hurt one another.

Awesome, awesome game.
Everyone stuck to their game plan despite Nigel's attempts to break it up for us. Some shocking calls, as others have said, not least Mopes/Myers. They were doing the windy uppy thing to each other, and Bonerface kicked em out. Dope...
One thing though, Mopes stood on the Steelers bench for the 3rd, didn't think he was allowed to after getting a Game Misconduct.
I hope Darby is not allowed anywhere near any bench tomorrow, what he thought he was doing is beyond me. He has no place doing what he did tonight and not only trying to fight, but nearly hurting innocent people in the process, Page/Rik/Scott/Officials etc. We normally expect that from him when he is ON the ice. I hope no other players are serving bans tomorrow night, we should both be as was tonight I hope.
Neilson MOM, physical, great goal and really wound up poor old dwarf Tessier. Pity we didn't get to see who did win it.
I don't know what the Steelers were madder about, Bonerface or that fact they got beat at their own game. They were filthy tonight and we gave it back. They didn't like it one bit.
The usually suspects in block 14/15 were mouthing at the end of the game which was wrong. But to see Simmsey and various other players using the language they were was disgusting. Phillips no less was jabbing his stick up into the crowd area too, bang out of order.
I hope we finish the job tomorrow and send Messers Tessier, Darby, Sacratini and the rest of them packing for an early summer.

Well what a game that was! Best of the season by a mile,it had everything hard checks, plenty of rough stuff mixed with plenty of skill to boot! Neilson scored a brilliant first goal and generally played really well all night, kept Tess at bay with some nice checks, i did think that at times Tessier deserved a medal for diving several times but hey whats new!? Cant believe Rasto only got the one penalty everytime i looked at him he was cross checking Steelers players near his crease was highly amusing , he made some great stops as well one in the 2nd period being his best. The rough stuff seemed to be just mass handbags for the most and big brawls with no clean cut fights, several tried to be started but everyone just joined in, no idea why Myers and Moran got chucked out but i did see Myers having 'words' with the Steelers bench moments beforehand. Stuff at the end was bit of a mess i didnt see what sparked it though, just saw Darby charging at the Panthers bench via Dave Page Great atmosphere was getting very tense at the end, loud noise from both sets of fans, did anyone see why a fan in block 4 got chucked out? or that was what it looked like, seemed to stem from Boniface pointing him out?! Fiesty both at the game and in the stands!

Hey all,
My dads company were sponsoring the match tonight so i just thought i'd let you know that Neilson was going to get man of the match for us and Scott Ricci for them.
Bit sad really as the couple due to be giving the awards were celebrating their 45th Wedding Aniversary!
Why they couldn't have just called those two players onto the ice i don't understand. The awards were given downstairs afterwards though.

This is from Steeltalk
“And finally Mr Class kricheck ( sorry cant spell his name!) Krajieck one finger salutes to the opposition fans isn’t really the way to leave the ice - a formal complaint is winging its way to the Panthers organisation - not something to be seen in family sport! Also making lewd suggestions to the lino wasn't the smartest thing to do!!”
On the way out, a chap sat near the bench wasn’t very happy with the colourful language of Mr David Simms, shouting foul language and his little lad (must have been 4 max) heard it all. I'm not sure we want to see/hear that in a family sport either! Are you? As for Regan, what a clown

Well well well.
Only my second or third game of the season, and first against Sheffield - but what a game!
That was proper, NHL-style Playoff hockey, full of passion and commitment. Loved every minute of it.
Boniface had a good enough start I thought, called everything, and everything he called was right (apologies to anyone sat around me in block 10, I do a running commentary on the ref and I know it can be annoying). The problems came when he missed the interferences on Rasto and then didnt deal with the scrums that broke out at the end of the first.
Panthers were awesome, Neilson particularly, and I loved Gallent's speed. The whole team were fantastic and stood up for each other, and Mr. Ellis got his tactics bang on 3rd period also.
And as for the special teams! Oh my!
Sheffield were dirty, very dirty. 2 punches to the back of the head alone in the first period sparked it all, so it wasnt a suprise when Panthers retaliated with their own antics. Tessier was a main culprit, and Jody Lehman, well aside from being poor tonight, should learn to back up that mouth of his.
Here's hoping we keep it going in Sheffield tomorrow.
I believe.
Oz
PS: Would have loved to have heard the Myers-Moran conversation:
Moran: Nice haircut Matt. Myers: Nice ice-time Paul.

well i cant believe they are such BAD losers and mardy too boot. If you are going to play it with the cheap shots and diving then dont be surprised when the opposition fight back and tonight the panthers did fight back with spades, especially when we let loose shymr at the end to shut up finnerty, well deserved imho.
Great game and finally the panthers get what they deserved allbeit with a certain amount of fighting the ref too, afterall steelers only scored twice, once on a 5-3 and the other time when it looked to be that the players had stopped as myers was being crosschecked to the ice and slashed from the bench too boot...

whoooa what a finish to a very exiting game, nearly had a heart attack, ad a few panic attacks and many palputations during that game. And low and behold we have it all to go through again in the tin shed. They aint gonna take this win lying down, they will do anything just, anything to keep us out of the playoffs. If they are loosing near the end of the game tomorrow night, just see how many of our players will be took out in one way or the other, injurys will be plentiful you see. Shame that we will be missing Shmyr in tomorrows game, would have loved to see him just give any off them a smack round the chops!!!! its brewing for a erruption thats for sure. How good is this feeling that we actually won a game agains them! but it aint over by a very long way. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW NIGHT GUYS!!! Got the ebbie jebbies all over again, I'm gonna be a nervous reck by the end of sunday, will need a week off work to recover ready for playoffs. LETS GO PANTHERS.....LETS GO PANTHERS.....

Now that's what you call proper hockey. Best game I've seen in years and us and the Steelers got all we/they deserved. Neilson was the best player on the ice, superb game. If he could guarentee playing like that every week, he should be re-signed. The D and Rasto all stood out for me.
Thought Petricko did a superb marking job on Tessier in the third and wound him up plenty too. If he can do that all game tomorrow, we've got a chance.
I thought Boniface had made a bit of a statement when he called the four 10 minute misconduct penalties at the end of the first and it seemed to calm down a bit in the second. But sending Myers and Moran off was unnecessary and his performance descended towards a farce after that. I wonder if he'll call any penalties from the fracas at the end of the game. I'm surprised he let the clock run down as they would have had a face off in our zone with about four seconds left. I think he just wanted to go home.
Apparently the chat between Moran and Myers before they were sent off included Matt saying something along the lines of "But I'm on the ice and you're not." Nice one.
If we can keep our heads, keep our mouths shut and play with controlled aggression, we can do this.
Come on Panthers.

Was a really good game tonight, the 'rivalry' between the two sides was there all right. First time I've seen a decent rivalry between these two.
Would say I'm shocked at how dirty they were being at times but it's nothing new, just good they didn't get away with it. At times I wished our games wouldn't go to the same level though, I was worried it would cost us the game. It might tomorrow though with Shmyr not being allowed to play. If we have the same standard of play tomorrow, we will be whooping for joy, no doubt about that.
Was disgusted at Finnerty, Simms and Darby. Finnerty apparently spat on the glass at a young girl, for calling him a loser. Darby was out of order as others have said.
This last bit is for Simmsy though. Comes on here goading our community and stirring up all sorts in his cauldron but when he gets it back tonight, he can't handle it and not only gives a load of lip to our fans, but actually swears at them in a close range of young kids being around. I gave the Steelers players some lip for behaving the way they did, I had a right temper on me, but I never once used a swearword.
I hope we get them tomorrow, it will be good for the tables to be reversed after last year.

If only we had shown that sort of passion and commitment all season we would have won everything!
I thought Jody had a very poor game and without Ryan we will be subjected to some real nasty stuff tomorrow. I have never seen such whinging and moaning as Stutter was managing all night and how Tessier didn't spend most of the night in the penalty box for diving is beyond me!
I was sorry that the end of game antics deprived us of the opportunity for a last hurrah for the team.
Boniface lost all control of the match, he will be worrying about tomorrow even as I type! He may even start to see Rasto's enthusiastic use of his stick on the Squealers!
Keep your heads tomorrow lads, don't rise to the abuse and intimidation. BTW Darby should never play in this league again!

Well thank you Mr Boniface, I hope you're pleased with those scenes at the end of that game - helped no end to cause those. Will we see Regan Darby again? Who knows. People have been banned for much less - but at least he showed some balls, seeing as we were physically outweighed against you guys. However McAslan stayed in that game for using Maltby's head as a battering ram i'll never know - at least it knocked some sense into him! ;D Waste of space if ever I saw one! Myers - Moran : Totally totally totally far fetched; trying to keep a handle on it I guess! Jody will have wanted 3 of those goals back - he had better stand on his head tomorrow!! Rasto had very little to do - shows our shocking finishing yet again. (Very inept at shooting top shelf!!) All in all sets things up nicely for tomorrow...let's just hope a different referee gets to 'try' and control the game!! Oh and in Mike Rees, I think you have your very own annoying little Vez there!

I wouldn't worry about us getting intimidated if Shmyr doesn't play - even without him we've still got much, much more toughness and muscle than they have. Sacratini, Tessier, Sutter, Finnerty and Johnson are annoying, but hardly intimidating. We may actually be better without Shmyr because we'll just play, rather than getting drawn into anything.
It's better just to laugh at them than react - they're just a bunch of sad, cheating dwarves.

Can't comment on the allegations re Simmsy, but I heard Krajiceck's game penalty may be upgraded to a match after his gestures to the steeler fans was pointed out to the ref - deservedly so.

Shuff beat us all season, and everything in the garden is rosy. Hockey wise, they were outplayed to-night, as soon as they realised this, they threw the dummy out of the pram, and tried to turn it into a boxing match. Same old record, bad losers. Champs at dishing out the dirt, but can't take it. They are a disgrace to british hockey.

It's a shame the majority of posts are about the end of the game. Panthers fully deserved their victory - just need to keep their discipline tomorrow and the semi-final spot is theirs for the taking. Boniface lost control early on and never got it back. I can confirm what AlastairB said earlier, namely Neilson and Ricci were MOM and presentations were made to them downstairs. Rasto ran Neilson close, but #76 was awesome tonight - his recent form has been great.
Tonight's game had everything, and it's a shame Boniface lost it. I understand he's been pulled from tomorrow's game...- good. Can't see how Shmyr's match penalty can be upheld.
Can't wait for tomorrow!!
