1.32 5 on 3 for the Steelers, second call looked really soft from where I am but bad vibes incoming.

Absolutely massive kill, Dubeau very stable and a very important block on an empty net.
Powerplay Panthers with 2.44 to play

Bradyyyyyyyyyyyy on the backdoor!
A lot of emotion in the celebration, Brassard looked ready to explode. Steelers probably the better team overall, but largely because of the powerplay.
Panthers very good 1st period, middling second and the worse side in the 3rd and overtime, but a well constructed entry resulted in the winner.
Dubeau was oustanding tonight, Berry the backup by a long distance.

Good stuff, felt a bit "must win" in the build-up, and they did.

What a difference a week makes, definitely a different side from last week. Maybe there was a clear the air kind of thing?
Anyway it was a resilient performance and as a previous Poster said, once they had a PP near the end of The 3rd Period, which turned into a 5-3, I thought that I've seen this before but they killed it and Stef at the end of The Kill couldn't contain himself lol.
Definitely thought that there were some soft calls on us.
Also only The Panthers can get a Penalty Shot and after it be on The Penalty Kill.

Well there is a rumour (Though like a lot of rumours there may be nothing to it) that GG had 6 games (including tonight's game) to turn things around.
Anyway as a previous poster said twas a resilient performance by Panthers who actuality showed some fight and determination tonight.
Long may it continue. Though at times tonight had it not been for Dubeau we could have been on the wrong side of a hammering.
Mathieu Gagnon signing for Panthers was a good signing for the other 9 teams in the league - So said a certain David Simms.
They are latest in a long list of comments by him that have come back to bite him...

Taking into account that we’re 3 senior players down, tonight’s result is tremendous.
The 1st period we were by far the better team, but the refs gave Sheffield a way into the game with some very soft and confusing calls imo. For the majority of the 2nd and 3rd they were much better than us but that’s understandable with our penalties and short bench. We did ride our luck on some occasions and a lot of players were making diving blocks and getting sticks in the right lanes, but that takes a lot of effort and desire and that was brilliant to see.
Dubeau has to be playing every league game though in my eyes, he was absolutely superb and should have been motm. Welsh stepped up as well, even without his two goals he still looked to be having a lot more influence and impact on the game. Welychka continues to be a great signing, pinpoint pass for the winner. Hazeldine held his own tonight as well, he’s been reliable enough and hasn’t looked out of place in our starting line-up which is great.
After a tough weekend last time it feels like the polar opposite this weekend, but that’s sport. I can never get enough of beating them lot either. Bring on the Stars now!

I've said it before. Reduce the number of league games and make the play-offs more intense with 'must win' games. I will get back into my box again. Just before I close the lid, I can count the number of times we have played versus Sheffield but it would be over the last few seasons as can't be bothered to try and do the whole history. Bets on 2 thirds win for Sheffield over the period? A quick scan over the period 2000-01 to date. The win/loss matches reveals Nottingham 90 to Sheffield 126, not as bad as I thought. More likely two fifths won by us. We had 8 draws within that time also. The stats for wins for us over that period is boosted by the years Corey was coaching us when we had several seasons where we won more than we lost.

That win puts us back in the frame regards the CUP group.

Devils could actually be in a real pickle. 0 points in 3 games means the 2 games this week against the Blaze are really crucial.

I notice Brassard has got the second assist for the Welsh equaliser, it was 100% Mike Hammond coming off the wing who passed it to the net for Welychka before he spun it to Welsh.

He was clearly annoyed but the refs thought he had gone after Connolly. So he needs to pick his moments. And talking about ps, can we get Matt Francis or Eric Werner in to give some lessons. I've never seen a less confident or competent set of ps as we had last night and in the loss against Sheffield.

A good and much needed win. In the context of the competition the result itself means little, although we needed to pick a few points up at some point. That result was more important to get some confidence back.
Fairly predictable result in my eyes. Just the type of game Panthers often find a way to win. Already thought we'd do it mid week but once we lost 3 players it felt even more like we'd do it. When it all points to Panthers getting a battering we usually do the business, especially when the game has little on it itself for Panthers.
Sounded like Dubeau played a blinder and good to see Welsh pick it up.

Delighted with that, felt like a really important win/ moment in the season. A criticism I’ve had in the past of Panthers teams is that they don’t look desperate to win, like Andrew Lords Cardiff always did, but yesterday was excellent; they dived in front of every shot, I really enjoyed it. Obviously Dubeau was very good and the plaudits coming his way are deserved, but I thought Gagnon had an excellent game. Really thought he looked a very good D man, aside from being tough as old boots. Well done Panthers. Test of mindset/ mentality coming on Friday, momentum is massive in sport and we need to continue ours.

Dimmsey taking the result about as well as would be expected. And people wonder why the league never has any credibility He’s from the GM age of the past and it didn’t work then and won’t work now. Thankful that we have moved on and he’s not linked to us. He’s their problem. Their team sells their tickets, not some brummie windbag stuck in the bad old days.

That 1st period yesterday was everything we could have asked for. We tired during the 2md and 3rd but we were playing a line short so that was obviusly gonna happen. We matched/bettered Sheffield 5 on 5 in the 2 pre-season games and yesterday they still didn't score 5 on 5 against us. Their powerplay is lethal though, really really dangerous and so any games against them going forward, we have to manage situations well and not get drawin as much as yesterday. The too many men call which led to their first powerplay goal for example was silly (from both us and the officials waiting to call it).
i thought Gagnon was excellent as was Welychka as usual and it was nice to see Welsh get some goals too. Dubeau was man of the match though, he had a bit of luck on his side in some instances, but what a performance. I think Berry is a good backup netminder and don't blame him for the poor result last week at all, but after a performance like liast night, we have to give Dubeau a run at being the starter imo.
Davey Phillips laying down 'hurt' to get a whistle called then getting up and giving away a penalty which led to us leveling on the powerplay though, that was beautiful.
In terms of the off ice part of the match night experience, the Jumbotron work alongside Ken and Paws has come on so so much. Credit to all of them as it made for a very good atmosphere to add to the on ice performance.
