He is only a so called show, pony because he,is a Steeler, why should he leave a better paid job to get 5 weeks work and lose money, would you, somehow I think not. Stay Safe All. What they hell you on about ! BOC has rules himself out as he says it's not financially viable to play on .. this should rule him out of GB selection for me . This is a guy who is perhaps GBs highest paid player and still 'cant afford it' Now the EIHL are saying there's been trade proposals for certain picks , all completely pointless to the public unless the final ranking list of GB/duals has been published for all to see. Sounds like yet again things are being done behind closed doors and tomorrow night is just a formality

Seems to be some confusion about Ben O'Connor. The issue is he makes more money outside of hockey than he would if he put himself in a bubble (and then presumably couldn't do the rest of his work). He needs to "pay the mortgage" as he says. Nothing wrong with that IMO.
As for a "Show pony", while I think he has some glaring issue with his game and is far too offensive, he's still GBs best defender.

Is the constant insulting name calling really needed? Surely against forum rules, yet again.

I get we all disagree every now and then but the rule of forums is supposedly; attack the post, not the poster. Ah well.

Nothing wrong with that IMO. He's on huge money at Steelers, I doubt this series is paying anywhere near enough to attract him from his 9-5 which is also rather well paid. Makes perfect sense to me.

What a bizarre situation. Arguably GB’s premier D man will find in to the worlds having played at nowhere near the level he needs to be to be anything like “match fit”?

Ollie also works for the same firm. Will he be playing?

The trades bit will be after the draft won't it? Edit - No, apparently not: Certainly needs a few lists publishing. Aren't some of them protected from the draft etc? Maybe we'll get them tomorrow during the day.

Ollie also works for the same firm. Will he be playing? Ollie is down to play currently, yes. Same company as Ben but different pay grade. Plus Ben earns way more than Ollie from EIHL hockey as well. There's more to Ben being unavailable imo. I believe there was a proposed player feedback deadline on availability which has now passed, doesn't mean there won't be any late withdrawals though.

What about Robert Farmer, he needs to be involved if he's going to World championships

Although he'd have trouble making regular training sessions, with the type of work he does I'd have thought he could fit in the odd morning or afternoon. It wouldn't surprise me if this was just a bit of smoke and mirrors and we either see him in the draft, or when Steelers suffer an injury he suddenly steps in as a short term replacement. And he's still the best d-man in the GB set up.

Panthers can't protect Joe Hazeldine as he's got a contract with one of the other teams in the Elite Series for next year.

I remember saying when Steelers signed Aaron Fox, wait until he finds out what O’Connor earns and it won’t last long.....And it didn’t. Same reason Whistle ended up at Panthers.

What about Robert Farmer, he needs to be involved if he's going to World championships Yeah I’m a bit baffled by this, I wonder if he’s got himself a full time job and thus decided to retire. He’s not on social media or anything, and there’s not been any news about him since he left Germany during the season.

Draft list: Protected players not yet named. interesting names on the list. 'Current' Panthers players - Ollie, Whistle, Tetlow, Perlini, Lacho, Gospel, Kelsall. others that are worth considering who have not recently played for the other 3 teams - Matt Myers, Ben Davies, Josh Batch, Morgan Clarke, Mac Stewart, Bowns, Duggan, Peacock, Garside Assuming Hammond and Ehrhardt go to Manchester, Connelly goes to Sheffield. Should be interesting. Imagine Panthers not signing one of their current squad, then wanting to re-sign them for when the proper league starts !

As are one or two other high profile Brits around certain teams.

Having a coach as GM is always an interesting time for veterans...

The fact Panthers are likely to protect Tetlow as one of the 5 tells you all you need to know about Panthers Brit Pack. I really like him as a prospect, but he shouldn't be in our best 5 Brits.

I really like him as a prospect, but he shouldn't be in our best 5 Brits. 21/22 and beyond the Brit pack needs serious reinforcement. In theory Farmer, Conway,Ben O'Connor (depending on how much money he wants) are available. In my mind some of these or other replacements from around the league are essential because while I like Ollie and he fills important roles in the team, we've got no top British forwards and Tetlow is good to have but not a leading Defenseman.
