One of Steelers import goalies is Pavel Kantor as has been widely rumoured; even though they haven't announced it, his mask designer has posted his new steelers mask on instagram 😂 Has played in the Czech top league mainly, so has the pedigree to easily be a EIHL starter...however Shuff fans are suggesting that he's the 1B rather than the 1A... they seem very confident that their getting Brust, www.eliteprospects.com/player/10646/barry-brust kantor would definitely be the 1B if that’s true. Very Garnett esq.. good thing or a bad thing?

This would suggest otherwise

Brust would be a decent starting netty, you'd have to say. On paper, at least. If so, Steelers really look like they've thrown some money at it this year. If they can start winning at home, the shed will be full, only this year with full price paying customers. If not, bad things will happen...

I of course could be wrong, but from what I know of him, I would be very surprised. Plus don't think we are getting Brust. Name doing the rounds now is Tomas Duba

38 year old.. in perfect company..😂 True and I'm not as sure as I am over some of our other signings if it is him. Mind you was still posting good numbers in better leagues than ours before last year. Find players from the Asia league are hard to judge though so no idea if he's had a significant drop in ability

Old but undeniable pedigree, as it is with the Steelers side in general this year. Could be a masterstroke.
Seems like Duba would be #1 and conceivably capable of Bowns numbers, but Father Time will tell.

Kuba has clearly seen his best years behind them.. not sure is Duba is a potential championship winning nettie.. very much wait and see.
Why can't teams sign these pedigree goalies who are late 20s!?

Kantor is 27 - should be in his prime.
Despite being sold the Taylor / Brust rumours I don't think that Steelers can argue with either of these signings at all, should be the best goalie tandem in the league.

Why can't teams sign these pedigree goalies who are late 20s!? Because they're playing in better leagues than ours, for better money than we pay? Both look good signings. The year in Korea is a question mark for Duba, but that probably was for the pay day, and his stats held up anyway. With Kantor and A.N. Other Brit apparently, they should have strong netminding.

Definite question marks over these two for me. Will go either way.

Exactly the EIHL isnt the league people are led to believe and come December it will be come clear why the likes of Reddox, Pau, St Pierre etc came here 😂

Kantor coming straight out of the top Czech league, might be cheaper than Duba but that's a heck of a good league still.
Think we've done well with these 2 but as with all signings they'll be wait and see!

Can you support your pessimism with cases of older players directly from KHL/SHL level leagues joining non-Panthers EIHL teams and flopping?

Good question. It’s very odd that it seems to usually be the ones that join Panthers that flop. Mmmmm strange that isn’t it !

Because the standard here is poor and will forever be seen as a 'wind down' league. You really think if Reddox had tonnes to give, Vaxjo would let him go and a captain at that. I will take this league seriously when we start attacking quality players in their prime.

Also the league needs to make huge steps before we do this or the league wont last long at all. they need a big/bigger tv deal with a lot more games shown so the teams sponsors can possible pay more. if the top teams when after these players in their prime they will go bankrupt and the lower league teams will get destroyed every game against the top teams.
