It's a new banner with images of the retired players to go with the numbers. Ah right, where’s it going to be then, is it replacing the new one they’ve put up? Believe it's been up for a few weeks, just covered.

To me it looked like the bottom 1/4 was folded up behind the banner as displayed. Presumably this will feature the retirees when fully unfurled.

This must be the only arena in pro hockey anywhere which uses this way of retiring jerseys !

This must be the only arena in pro hockey anywhere which uses this way of retiring jerseys ! And doesn’t have winners banners. And barely even has a colour identity either because of so many different coloured shirts.

we must have the most neutral vanilla venue anywhere in the world... it really does lack any real identity and is a bug bear of mine since the new place opened... it isn't like its demanded by concerts etc as other venues such as Belfast and Sheffield have concerts and they have shirts and banners hanging from their rafters... this a case of Nottingham not giving the fans what they want because its easier not to?..

No, it's a case of the arena not allowing it. Blame the poor management at the arena.

then they have obviously never been to other arenas anywhere in the entire world which have sporting clubs based in them...
I really don't see what the problem is to be honest it isn't like its going to offend anyone and if it does then EVERY arena in the world must be doing the same offence... it really does stink of political correctness going berserk if you ask me..

Does anybody know why they have painted the back wall at the top black? Is there a plan to replace all the seats with black ones? Clearly we have been told the facilities charge is going on maintanace and upgrading the arena. This would at least help reduce the neutral, unhomely feel of the place. Obviously the banners should be in the rafters and would really help it to feel like home rather than Panthers just being like any other customer/event.

How on earth did you make the jump from the arena not wanting to do something to political correctness?
I'm going to guess that as we have a lower ceiling than most venues that the arena doesn't want to pu up anything that might interfere with views from the boxes on concert nights. Or have some thing to lift the banners like they have for the scoreboard?

I'd imagine the reason for that is more for concerts. Black blends in better when the lights are off and will improve the aesthetics.

Is this not a thread to discuss the game in Saturday? Gone a bit off track...

No, it's a case of the arena not allowing it. Blame the poor management at the arena. Its nothing to do with the Arena management, its all on Gary Moran. There is a cost implication to hanging banners above the Arena floor and its a cost Gary doesn't want to pay. Instead they dress up the Stage End banner as being our 'tradition'.

I notices Spik But a good pre-game preview for a change. Hopefully this will continue and the web site will do this for every home match.

I am travelling south more in hope than expectation. But then I did that the last two times I’ve watched Panthers vs Storm and both turned out OK.

According to Storm twitter they will be without Mike Hammond & Chris Auger tonight. Harrison Rupp is also a doubt but may apparently play. Hammond not playing is a big loss for them..,

Orange warm-up jerseys guys? Interesting colour choice! ‘Roko Red’ according to the club, absolutely disgusting, they’ll do anything for sponsor money...

To be fair it's quite obviously red when seen close-up, it's just the Arena lights wash it out a bit. It's the same reason those green jerseys that Panthers wore a few seasons back looked so awful in use. Personally I've always associated Roko with the darker burgundy colour that is both on their logo and all over their website.
