The longer this saga continues, the higher the chance of a repeat of this season for next season, for Caps.
They're essentially in no mans land, can't look to go forward but can't shut up shop. They can't sign players without a guaranteed home to play out of.
Best thing to do would have been have the Hand's and their associates offer support to Scott Neil and build together. Edinburgh does not need conflict when they're in a critical condition.

Same difference. Just a club with a different name.Representing Edinburgh/Murrayfield.

Although there's a lot wrong with the Caps, their fans seem to have a dislike to this new group already, so I can't really see how that'd work any better.
Bit of a backhanded (haha) way to shoehorn your way into the league too, might not go down too well with Black et al. Two Point seemed to still be in the Caps' corner when he was interviewed during the PO Final.

They have been dead in the water for years. Just stick a fork in them now.

Think Scott Neil will move his franchise to Hull.

Time to offer Hull the 12th spot and sack off hockey in Edinburgh.
With his previous history of helping run a team (Manchester Phoenix, into the ground) I'm not convinced that having Tony Hand involved is an improvement over the current dumpster fire playing out of Murrayfield.
The ownership group behind the Hull Pirates on the other hand seem very professional and have publicly stated their desire to join the EIHL. They also play out of a decent sized rink that is a lot closer to the majority of EIHL teams, and by playing in the EIHL it may help with pushing for ice hockey provision in the new Hull Arena.
As a further plus, having Hull in the EIHL might sound the death knell for the conference system, or at the least reduce the absurd three of four down to a more acceptable two of six.

I don’t understand why the Caps fans are getting annoyed, aren’t they fed up of Scott Neil taking them for fools?
I see this as a chance for a new team to be set up that can offer more to the league and to their city, I understand that the fans are sentimental towards the ‘Capitals’ but effectively all that is happening is the name is changing and different ownership would be leading the team, they will still represent Edinburgh. If I was a Caps fan i’d be all for this.

Dump them and let the league move forwards for once and ditch the deadwood.

Edinburgh Capitals has massive potential if the right person was to take charge of the club It needs a massive investment both on and off the ice (marketing etc), someone needs to have a long term sustainable financial business plan. If the EIHL are not presented with this before a set deadline (say end of May) then get rid of them out of the league I'm not saying that Hull would be the ideal replacement either based upon their previous financial track record.

Considering what the Edinburgh fans have had to put up with maybe we should take into account their feelings regarding the potential new club (Or whatever it is)
Maybe they know more than we do?
However I don't want a Caps team that is a laughing stock.

Long time coming. Gutted for their fans, but if the new team are competitive, then it's good for the league.

Obviously the Caps have been atrocious this year, but I had a degree of hope for their new setup. Not sure about barging your way in like this, will be interesting to see what the EIHL do, although they've probably already got the agreement behind closed doors.

Tbh i have no sympathy for the Caps organisation. How many years did they just not make an effort to sort things out. All far too little too late with the new plan.
Hoping the new setup is half decent. Hockey fans in Edinburgh deserve some thing good after the last 10 years.

Good to see the racers back, now let's get the wasps playing out of Durham into the league.

Once they said the Chairman of the SIHA was involved in the new set up there was no way they were going to turn him away. Feel more sorry for the fans of the Capitals than anything else.

I guess now we'll find out if it is a combination of the rink and Edinburgh in general that's the problem, or more the set-up of the team/organisation.

Now confirmed - the Hand's bid (aka the Murrayfield Racers) has been accepted by the rink, leaving the Caps homeless. No word yet on what this means for the league, or whether it is likely that the 'new Racers' will get EIHL board approval. I feel sorry for the loyal Caps fans, but its hard not to see this as a no-brainer for the rink given how poorly the Caps have been run for years now... EDIT: Just saw the new thread as I posted this on the old one

What's with all the feeling sorry for caps fans...
I would have thought that the true team coming home would be welcomed by all hockey fans.
Hopefully Scot Neil will attempt to revive northeast hockey to the hotbed it used to be.

Seems a ridiculous decision to me, the Edinburgh capitals have so much more potential than the murrayfield racers. They just needed the investment , just like the racers will. I mean what north American or European player would know where murrayfield is? Where was Edinburgh? It's worldwide known. So much more marketable. Personally hope the eihl reject the murrayfield racers purely for the way they have gone about their business. Take a 11 team league for a season and look at hull Basingstoke or Swindon making the step up

And if someone wants to invest in the Capitals then I have a bridge for sale somewhere.
