So I'm guessing that we didn't go after Armstrong then or is it a case of doing it at home in front of our fans?
While this may be the best thing to happen in the long run, I still don't like the fact that Sheffield were again able to come back from a 3 goal deficit. This shouldn't be happening especially after last season.

I will have to watch the highlights, but I find it really hard to blame Gospel, the defence really hung him out to dry, they were shocking, so think it is pretty poor to say he can't catch a cold! I thought it was a really strange game, zero atmosphere, zero niggle, was almost like a pre season game. Neither team had much fire, but Sheffield looked stronger in the closing stages and Moose buckled down. Overall, not too fussed, we should, touch wood, still qualify out of our group, but had that been a league game I would have been pretty swizzled off. Team does need to tighten that defence..... get Mosey back up front, he looks shaky at the back, for the life of me I can't understand why Lindhagen is not back in D and let Mosey loose up front, we need that speed, wearing down the opposition D.... Still lots of work to do this week... I went tonight and I can't remember Gospel catching a single decent puck all game. He made some fair saves with his pads, but with Garnett in net he would have caught and frozen some of those shots that were rebounds off Gospel. Those rebounds then led to goals because the D didn't clear the puck. I've just watched the highlights from the Coventry game and whilst not as obvious as tonight, our D did exactly the same thing several times last night but Garnett bailed them out ! Give him a bit of credit. He had at least 2 good glove saves in the third.

Do you really think that someone that could do something about it (gagnon, bussieres or sauve) cares about what happened last year. We should just put it behind us and try to win!

Shallah 3 assists was positive - some well taken goals, but D at odds at times. Hopefully that can be sorted - a bit strange in a way after good defensive performances in the CHL. Ollie B seems to keep improving, while Tetlow looked promising when he appeared. Yes if Garnett had played we would have won, but how does Gospel get better if he doesn't play? Therefore we cannot get too upset and regard it as miles on the clock. However again the power play looked innocuous.

Just a quickie as I haven't seen the team play yet due to holidays but is Corey still mixing the lines or do we have a settled lot? Just wondered as Mosey was on defence ? And I thought he was signed as a forward.

We have played Mosey on D since Brisbois got injured and other than swapping Mok for Bussieres (which has worked wonders for Mok) all lines have stayed the same

They are working well together . Just need Brisbois back. Glad tetlow got some icetime to allow Mosey to move back on wing in the 3rd

That game should have been dead and burried at 0-3. Thats what the glandslam team would have done, and thats the standard im holding this team to. Not strictly true. The grand slam team were terrible early in the season. I even remember people calling for Ling to be gassed. It was only when Lepine came back did our fortunes change.

You've lost the plot! Gospel caught at least 3 in the 3rd alone and made some good glove saves in the 2nd !! You said you want gospel playing next week against Guildford, that team who put 8.. Yes 8 against the league champs ! I don't know about you if rather have the league points rather than 2 points in a cup game when we ll qualify anyway !

I don't put Gospel at fault at all. Garnett 'may' have stopped a couple of them but the real issue is Steelers shouldnt have had the puck to shoot with in the first place on at least 3 of the goals.
I think that was defensively up there with last years teams worst performances but for what this team has accomplished so far in this short year I'm more than happy to call that a blip and I don't think we'll see a defensive performance that bad again this season.
We lost an away CC cup game in Sheffield. If we are going to lose a game against that lot I'm happy it was that one.

Surely if Garnett was in goal then what happened wouldn't have happened i.e. A single moment played differently would change the course of the whole game resulting in completely Different plays, different shots, different situations maybe better or maybe worse outcomes. To say he would have saved three is pure speculation based on nothing.. maybe he'd have let in more, who knows? The problem last night was the defence not defending, not clearing the zone and not keeping it simple. However as has been said, rather lose that game than others, and a reality check for the players on what is required in the this league. I also remember The grand slam team were not great at the start of that season and people were calling for heads to roll, as has been highlighted it all fell in to place when Lepine arrived and the pairings clicked.

Great experience for Gospel, sure a couple which he conceded were a bit soft but he won't ever learn if he doesn't play. I bet he'll be sitting down with Garnett and Green today or tomorrow to review how he played, how to fix the mistakes etc.. It's good for Gospel. I heard he played well throughout too?
As Pidge said above, once Brisebois is back we'll be a lot better. Mosey spent the entire season in Rockford/Indy as a Forward, he's back playing on D. Not ideal. His speed up front will be a huge difference maker.
The defence just need to play hard and control the game rather than try risky passes out of their own end. Sauvé is the only guy I'm happy to see so that, and even he has fluffed a few of them. Against Bern, we held the puck very well at times, shut them down and played the puck out of our zone but with a flurry of passes, drop passes etc..
Our physical play seems to have deteriorated too. We were punishing most guys coming over the blue line, down the wings, now they're just getting stick checked. Just throw the damn body, wear them down!

Why do we need to prioritise anything. We play 2 games a week? Win every game.

Was happy, and still happy, that we gave Gospel the ice-time for this, even though we didn't the W. CC qualifying rounds is definitely the right option to assist his development, and to give Garnett a break from what will be a long season ahead.

When is Brisebois back? Is there any info on his return? I think when he is fit to return, one of our over-23 Brits or another import will need to sit out as I believe we have a total of 20 in that category and only 19 of those can ice (+ up to 3 u23's if the 19 is maxed out)

We've only got 19 I think (14 imports and 5 senior Brits).

Sport finds a way of equalling itself out, we will have our own late goal against this lot later in the season, the hockey gods will see to that. And, itll be in a game that matters more than this one The Playoff Quarter Finals probably qualify as games that matter more than this game. Panthers scored with 10 seconds left in game 1 and 8 seconds left in game 2. How many more late goals do you think the 'Hockey Gods' owe Panthers?

This results was unfortunate, but don't worry, because as Corey told us all summer, "we are laser focussed on the league"

Baptism of fire for gospel, can't blame him if the defense doesn't show up. Need to get our head down ignore our own hype and graft. The d needs to concentrate and cut out giving so many turnovers in our own zone. We clearly have scoring power but if we don't tighten up then we will have problems.

How many more late goals do you think the 'Hockey Gods' owe Panthers? Given we ended that tie with the Accommodation Manager in goal, about 43 should do it. Anyway, didn't go so can't really comment, but watching the highlights there seems to be some sloppy stuff from us defensively, but some really good stuff going the other way. Terrific goal from Mok. And in fairness to them, a good game winner from Lazarus too, not a lot Gospel can do with that one.
