I'd've thought there would've been 5 missing at any one time with Brown, Spang, Waugh, Dimmen & Moran on the uni course wouldn't there? I don't for a second think that it's an ideal situation but if it gets us more players like Garnett I'd be hard pressed to grumble at them missing training sessions here and there. Sorry there were 5 at Uni last year yes. You have Uni guys missing training and any injured guys sat out too and before you know it half the team are missing. Add in that they are probably going to be your key better guys too, because that's who you generally give Uni deals to....and it ain't good It's no wonder we're always crap on the power play is it if they don't train properly ! 🙄 I dunno if you can pinpoint the power play problems on not training properly, I think it more has to do with the same tactic of always working back to the point for a one timer. This works if you have players like Murray or Weaver who can get the puck through to be tipped in but we don't often have players capable of this (no matter how much Steve Lee is forced into that role). In the past we've had plenty of offensively gifted players who should be able to work out a power play between them but they're obviously trying to force something - I'm a fan of Neilson but this is one area I wish he would turn over to one of the high end offensive experienced players to run or sort out (Ling, Moran, Kolnik, Williams etc).

Garnett for example. Depends how much you pay em I guess. Undoubtedly Uni is a good way of attracting better players but just pointing out there is a downside to it I would have thought 3 guys at Uni is the max you should have at any time,5 or 6 is too much disruption.

So do the other teams offering university places do something different in terms of training than us? No idea,I've heard of other teams training at night ? I don't care what other teams do,only Panthers.

Season before last our guys tried to get Neilson to do just that and he was having none of it Players knew our power play wasn't working and pleaded for change, but it was Corey's way or none and that was the end of that !

TBF there's something to be said for listening to the boss but sometimes you have to go out there do it your way and if it works go 'see' or if it doesn't 'sorry but we had to try', the players in the season before last where experienced enough to have gone and done that and if they didn't part of the blame lies at their feet.

Problem is Corey always wanted to run every powerplay (he was good at it) but his obsession of the same tactic is too much. When he became head coach, it gave him free reign to make himself the player everything had to go through on the PP and he's never letting that go - now all he does is designate a player and imagine himself back on the ice! It must be such an embarrassment to any coach to concede against our PP... it's as predictable as Simms making obnoxious comments.

Noone who knows anything would have thought Bussieres would have the season he did. He came from the EBEL as the top scorer on a bad team with 0.7 ppg. And the proceed to be a massive flop only bested by Shalla. He nearly scored as many ppg in the AHL and in our league. The fact that you moan about virtually every Panthers signing completely nullifies any claim of 'correctness' when a player ends up under performing. Besides the fact that you said he would be average not bad. Mods seriously can you do something to clean this forum up. Its saying something that i often prefer to read the Steeltalk forum because the quality of discussion isnt dragged down by a small minority.

Don't worry, he can't tell the difference between 3 and 5 on page 6. But that's glossed over as it doesn't fit the "I'm always right, me" agenda...

The irony is Garnett was dubbed a “great” signing and yet his league play was ultimately nothing but mediocre.

"Trump-esque" is the word I've desperately been searching for. But reacting is part of the problem, isn't it, for a troll? Probably best to take a deep breath and realise that it really isn't worth your time. Which is what I shall try and do more often.

'That will teach anybody who thinks old Iggy doesn’t know what he’s talking about' - are you aware how arrogant that makes you sound? Never mind the fact that you resurrected a thread over a year old

Maybe you should read between the lines of my posts and try see the huge amount of sarcasm or humour in them rather than just bashing,or even sometimes think you know what,I thought Iggy was talking drivel as usual but actually he was right in the case of Bussieres. Lol

Like bringing up a thread from well over a year ago, making sure everyone knows what you said about a player.

Interesting thread for sure. With the profits we make we really shouldn't be taking massive gambles like this during recruitment and certainly shouldn't have kept him for a full season.
