One things for sure though. No team has ever won the EIHL without plenty of good quality and experience on their roster and I don't believe they ever will. Didn't you also say no team would win the league with a British netminder?

We look quite a physical team so far and that's not a bad thing. I would like a fighter that is able to contribute in either points or a solid no nonsense dancing. Lepine sort of guy or a more points productive cam. We need the big players in now, our goal scorers our play makers etc, bring those in we have a good team and can challenge. Solid experienced goal tender physical team people will hate playing so far. Especially steelers! They have gone for quite an old team!

In Pantherland,it doesn't matter how good or bad he is, nothing makes a player a bigger fan favourite than if he can do a little dance ! 🙄

I think he his going to be a top 6 forward, we currently have 8 forwards signed out of 12 leaving 4 import forwards to be announced, when you look at the balance of the lines we are very left hand heavy up top currently and I think Corey could be trying to set the lines in the following way Farmer Import Import Bussieres Import Import Mokshantsev Brown Clarke Lacho Lindhagen Betteridge Kelsall In my opinion this is how we should set the forward lines, the final four imports should consist of two pure playmakers and two goal scorers, the lines would then be set up with an even amount of graft, skill and goal scoring with the first two lines being your offensive leaders. Obviously Corey will do whatever he wants and probably the opposite to this but you can only dream. Any thoughts? I think you 'll find lindhagen will be playing D. Farmer ain't a top 6 forward I agree with you but Corey has said Lindhagen isn't playing D this season hasn't he?

I think the quality of this signing depends what he's been brought in to do. If he's a top 6 forward then he's probably not going to win us the league. The 0.7-region PPG, young, ECHL players tend to be the type that the lower end teams sign - and some turn out really good....but it's a gamble. But I can see him doing really well on a third line with Farmer and Brown - sounds like just the sort who would bring the best out of Farmer and create a line which is horrible to play against - and would also bring the points scoring side of Farmer's game out. As far as I can see, Panthers haven't signed any of the top forwards or top D yet so it's difficult to judge this signing. What worries me is Corey talking about not needing an enforcer - and I hope he's not expecting this chap to stand up to Fitzgerald etc because he's nowhere near tough enough. He's definitely not a Salters-type. When you look at Salters stats in NA and compare them, it needs to be remembered he played most of his career as an enforcer - which I seem to remember is why he moved over to Europe, so he could get more ice time. On another note, I'm just so bored of Corey's pre-season waffle. He just alternates between, "we don't need a tough guy, the league has moved on", to "I want a team with more quality and more experience" to "I need a younger and hungrier team" to "I want some grade A tough guys to keep the opposition honest". I seriously think he's just winding the fans up - either that or he's just so bored with it all he can't be bothered to think of anything to say. Obviously still hard to tell at this stage and they don't always stick to what they have said but.... From what we have so far and what I hope we end up with as a minimum. 1st Line- IMPORT IMPORT IMPORT (I hope we sign a "1st line" this year with 3 expensive looking players on it, we already have grit and youth, we are the Nottingham Panthers and we should have some wow CV's in the roster, we already have 1 with Garnett). 2nd Line- FARMER BROWN BUSSIÈRES (From the highlights it looks like he likes to cut in from the right wing) 3rd Line- IMPORT (Kelsey Wilson / Leigh Salters Type player) LINDHAGEN CLARKE4th Line- MOKSHANTSEV LACHOWICZ BETTERIDGE13th forward- KELSALL1st Line D- IMPORT (LEPINE, SMABY or similar) IMPORT (Expensive looking CV and ideally able to be a right shot D on Powerplay) 2nd Line D- SPANG BILLINGSLEY3rd Line D- IMPORT (Steady, no nonsense stay at home D, preferably with decent speed) LEE7th D- TETLOWStarting NM- GARNETT

Just a quick comparison with Salters who came to us with a similar, albeit a tougher reputation and turned out reasonably well in points output
Leigh Salters, Winger, 6ft 4, age 24 ECHL stats - 97 Games - 29 Goals - 28 Assists - 57 Pts (0.59ppg) - 188 pims AHL stats - 54 Games - 1 Goal - 2 Assists - 3 Pts (0.06ppg) - 113 pims
Raphael Bussieres, Winger, 6ft 2, age 23 ECHL stats - 56 Games - 15 Goals - 25 Assists - 40 Pts (0.71ppg) - 99 pims AHL stats - 75 Games - 5 Goals - 16 Assists - 21 Pts (0.28ppg) - 55 pims
granted Salters looks like he was primarily used as a scrapper in AHL but these types of power forwards who come over seem to always do reasonably well (Haddad, Salters, Faryna, Desbiens) - so i'm reasonably positive he'll have a good impact over here, we just need to compliment him with the right type of players and he should flourish

Just not sure he'd do fine fighting the genuine heavies like Salters was. Still hoping for big Gui on D to keep an eye of them.

Maybe one looking so on the top line at a push. I see most players being around the 23-26 age range so won't have th experience to build up that impressive CV Panthers fans crave for. I did say Panthers won't spend a great deal especially with their euro jollys being taken into account. Sorry to disappoint. And by the way Robert Farmer ain't a top 6 forward. If he is Panthers will have problems

Whilst it's anyones guess given Corey's history with picking the lines but I'd be happy seeing something like: Import - Import - ImportThis needs to be a true top line in the mould of Benedict-Graham-Ling or Fretter-Forney-Roy. Import - Brown - ClarkeClarke always played well with Myers, Brown is a similar player. If they where paired with a playmaker it should bring out the best in Clarke (as when you had Galbraith-Myers-Clarke the year before the grand slam when Clarke scored 40+ goals and Myers had a career year). With players who we're not sure why to expect from (Bussieres & Mokshantsev) it's going to be important for Clarke to hit the ground running in order to give them chance to settle - it's very important that Clarke stays healthy this season, I'm quietly confident that he will. Farmer - Lindhagen - BussieresFarmer and Lindhagen played well together with McGrattan when Lawrence was out injured or moved to another line, keeping those 2 together would give both a chance to start the season in familiar surroundings with Bussieres instead of Big Ern and hit the ground running (or hit the ice skating?). Mokshantsev - Lacho - OllieSpeaks for itself, Mokshantsev essentially taking the place of Sarkanis initially with the view to moving on up should he be a lot better than a 4th line forward (as many expect he will be) which could lead to Lindhagen centring Lacho & Ollie with Bussieres centring (Corey said in his radio interview Bussieres sees himself as a centre) Farmer & Mokshantsev. KelsallPlugs in as and when others need rest or are injured. Import - ImportIT's very easy to use the construction of the grandslam team as a blueprint to success (as it's when we had our greatest success) so I'm going to do it again here, Lepine-Werner type pairing would be lovely. Import - BillingsleyReports seem to suggest that Bilingsley moves the puck well so should be paired with a big monster stay at home d-man making them a real nasty pair to play against. Spang - LeeThis would allow Lee to play his 'keep-it-simple' game (as he did towards the back of last season) in which he is so much more effective and reliable as he can just give the puck to Spang to get it out of the defensive zone. Should also leave Spang playing less minutes thus making him more effective - particularly on the powerplay. TetlowSame as Kelsall. The split between Garnett, Zakharchenko and Gospel is anyones guess with Garnett getting the majority of starts. This of course could all change dependant on who we sign next, but hey ho it's fun to type it all out and play General Manager for 15 minutes

I think its risky relying on him as a second.liner for a full season. I imagine this is the sort of spot Mokshantsev will fill into. I see spang taking that werner spot your talking about. He will be a well paid player and i highly doubt Corey is going to get 4 d men to go ahead on him in the line up. Billingsly could be a good fit for Lee. Can transition but also defensively sound enough to cover some of Lees more 'what are you doing!' Moments. Enforcer: i'm firmly in the camp of every team should have one go to tough guy backed up by a couple of others. Question is wheres he going to go? Surely not upfront as i dont think we have space. All our remainimg forwards need to be 2nd and first line points scorers. So that leaves the defence. I still want at least 2 more stay at home guys. And one of tyem needs to be a stud. So that means either one of them or the last d man needs to be an enforcer. Lepine or a copy of him would solve alot of these problems. Shame because i always thought Farmer plays best with and Enforcer up front.
