Lip service. Make it look like you are interested in fan concerns. Schedule far too little time to achieve anything of note, only one hour before a game to further dilute the event. Nothing will change.

If it is a Q & A session with NB with GM as minder will questions relating to recruitment, injury cover and poor performancez be simply answered with the coach is responsible for team matters, next question! Which is how he answered the last Q&A we had with him many moons ago. He said GM was in charge with the running of the club and he had very little input. He couldn't answer tho' why at the time GM insisted on all sponsorship money was to be paid in cash with VAT added but no vat receipts were ever given out. He had the gift of the gab and he's planned this very well, just 1hour before a match so there is no chance this will run over . 3 hrs wouldn't be long enough, there's going to be some very disappointed people. It's been brilliantly planned, I love it. I think more people will be satisfied this has happened than not though, mainly because it'll give them the illusion that something has/will change and that they are responsible for it. Everyone's a winner.

When he's not on his holidays to India he comes every so often, maybe once or twice in every ten games but keeps a low profile and will sit amongst fans as nobody who doesn't research him won't know what he looks like. He usually answers questions when put on the spot too.

When you ask questions like 'I wonder why Neil Black hasn't commented on the Continental Cup win?' and get the answer 'Oh he's on holiday in India' I don't understand how that is considered 'stalking' in the slightest.

Well I managed to listen to about half of that, and I have to say it terrifies me that we're in his hands.
So, in summary:
- Corey is the most successful coach in Panthers history - But the league performances the last few years have been completely unacceptable - And the league is by far the most important thing to Panthers - And Corey is left entirely to his own devices with regards to recruitment and on-ice matters - And the recruitment the last couple of seasons hasn't been good enough - And Panthers have the biggest playing budget - But we've had terrible luck with injuries - But we've made bad decisions with regards to recruiting players who have a history of injuries - And in the current market if you lose a player to injury it's incredibly hard to replace them so you need to make sure you don't sign anybody who has a history of being injury prone - So we're looking to get a strength and conditioning coach in addition to the current strength coach to try and cut down on injuries - But he's not sure getting a strength and conditioning coach will make any difference to the number of injuries we pick up
Confused?? No wonder nobody seems to know what's going on.
You'd also be forgiven for thinking that Panthers are uniquely crippled by a massively challenging player market (apparently partly due to the collapse of the CHL??) and a weak pound, which obviously doesn't affect any other Elite League teams.
It came across to me that he is very remote from the running of the club and league.

For a owner he's pretty clueless with the game as a whole. He needs hockey people in his senior management team or is he too stubborn to admit it .

I not sure how we can have a bigger budget than last year... guys like Ling, Kolnik, MacDonald & Quick weren't exactly improved on.
Overall it was a bit pointless. Fans were there to talk about the team and Black kept reiterating that he has no influence or knowledge about on-ice matters.

So we've got a strength coach, but not a strength and conditioning coach? Firstly, what is a strength coach, and secondly who is it?
I see TCW streamed it. Will it be available to listen to Jono?

Yes, it recorded in three chunks so I've got to piece it together. Probably available as one file tomorrow morning but the three parts are there now if you go to iTunes or Spreaker Edit to add: A Special TCW Podcast as we live streamed Nottingham Panthers Chairman Neil Black's Q&A with fans from the Saltbox in Nottingham. Many thanks to Neil and the Saltbox for allowing us to do this. Note: The live recording split into three parts on the night so has been pieced together, however small sections are missing. We apologise for this. Download or stream from the link below. wp.me/P6zbpB-ER

After what Black said. I bet nothing changes . No way do panthers spend the most. Surely people don't believe this crap.
Most of his answers were vague at best...

If we spend more than the other teams on our squad, then we are massively overpaying some of the players.

Did he say we spend the most on our squad or did he wrap it up with all costs? I would imagine that our arena\ice hire costs would be massivily more than the other teams as Belfast owners also own their arena and Shuff do not play all their games at the arena.
I know he said this year they spent more on the squad than in previous years, but that could still be less than other teams.

From what i've read on here, it does seem odd that from an owner we've always had the impression he had a hands on approach, has very little insight to this team. Now is that our fault for assuming or is it that he was just pandering to the ever growing distaste and trying to settle the crowd?
From what's been said it's what i personally feared, he's keeping an eye on attendances and the cash flow. Or on the flip side whoever reports in to him is twisting the reality that is we're very much so falling behind other teams, whether that be social media, promotion//fan interaction and general team identity.
This says to me that we need a real GM, desperately. Moran cannot be allowed near the on ice product or be able to influence the team in any way shape or form. A GM's role is to help the coach recruit and direct where the budget should be spent.
If we have the highest playing budget then imo we're paying depth players and role players higher end than scorers because under our potential budget we should be able to bring in gamers and grit at standard rates and go higher end for point production. Just reads asif this club has an organisation nightmare and can't get the simple details in check and it's affecting the on ice product and set's us back over a month every season. This just solidifies the point that big changes need to be made.

Ive just listend to the Q&A and he definitely states that he believes that he we spend more on players than anyone else.
Then goes on to say that losing might be due that we travel in more luxury than others o_0

Nothing was mentioned regards the quality of player brought in compared to our competitors... given nobody was allegedly available...

No doubt our four senior Brits all earn a serious chunk of cash. Two flatly don't belong at this level, one is a crock and the other fantastic. They'll without a doubt be taking up a considerable slice of the pie.
