For a player like him,if they want him....he tells them when he's coming. But it's the 23rd December he arrives. /quote] Is his family coming with him at the same time Iginla? No idea mate, that's the date I was told. Players often come over on their own to check things out first though.

Got his visa approved but training hard in Ontario still. I'm almost certain he'll be making his debut against the Yorkshire puddings on the 27th at home. I've been told he'll do everything he can to get the fans pumped up for games, something which McGrattan can't do with his dull personality.

You really struggle don't you, you expect him to change who he is? He's never been a massive personality. Look at the coach holding the leash over the guy not being allowed to play HIS game. Ignorance.

Hopefully when we're at full strength and can afford to lose a player for 5-10mins he'll let mcgratten go and do his thing. Please. Don't drive him back to drink Corey

I've never really seen that much of him in the NHL, so I am interested in what do you think Corey is stopping him doing? I expect he will exceede the number of fights he had last season in the AHL, so he is still having fights. www.hockeyfights.com/players/52

His game has always centered around strong forechecking, throws his weight around, gets in your face. Even after he returned from that knockout he didn't change so i don't see how him being here so tame can point to anything other than a guy being held back. He's been seen gesturing at Corey after shifts looking very frustrated on a number of occasions. No doubt in my mind Corey is playing him to a role that differs from how he's played his career. His role isn't just to fight. His aggressive play is what made him a threat on the scoresheet at times too.

As an opposition player last season,if Janssen was on the ice,you would be worried what might be coming your way. But this year with Mcgrattan, you wouldn't be worried at all unless you were going to fight him ! Mcgrattan is a more talented hockey player with the puck, but far less effective on the ice than Janssen. For the role Mcgrattan is being asked to play at the moment,we would have been better signing a Salters/Bergin type dual lesser fighter/scorer.

I cant imagine Corey telling him not to forecheck though, if that is what you are saying. For me he doesn't have the same speed to catch a player that Janssen did (but he does have a better touch).
Just to point out - Im not dissapointed with him, we've not been bullied this season at least, unlike previous seasons when Nickerson and Keefe skated around like they owned the place.

When have you seen him really apply pressure on the opposition? Because it's rare he does, he gets set up to take the trailing man or the secondary puck carrier. He's made a career in the top flight beong aggressive, i don't understand why he isn't being utilised properly. We may not be bullied but we are not getting more out of him and he has a lot to bring.

Now I know he has had shoulder surgery in recent years so whether this limits him to an extent in terms of the force he can exact, but he hasn't impressed me in terms of his physicality in any area on the ice, apart from when he's fighting of course

It's down to the coach to get the best out of his players and he isn't doing so right now.

So no sign of Williams, suspect he will be in for the Coventry games, missing the Sheffield games and giving them probably another two wins over us, making it 4 out of 4 in December.

I'd hope he plays boxing day too. We may be poor but Williams should be the best player on the ice

The Evening Post article states his debut is the 27th which is slightly disappointing, we could have done with him on Boxing Day, looks like it's going to be another spanking for the boys, especially if we are still short on D

So why isn't he playing against Dundee then?? 🤔 Playing devils advocate and assuming Iggy is right, Williams could be arriving too late, or maybe the club aren't going to put him in the lineup if he's just flew 8 hours, and probably had 3+ hours of driving on either side of that if he's coming into a London airport. Especially against Dundee with 2 tough games just 72 hours later.

He is supposed to debut in Sheffield on Boxing Day with a home debut on the 27th.
