We can role 4 forward lines comfortably and Lindhagen can cover a forward if one gets injured to maintain the 4 line hockey, the only downside is that it would leave us with 5 D which is why Oakford was the perfect fit as the 7th dman.
If Panthers could strike a two way deal with Tom Norton and call him in when we are short on D then that would probably be the best way to go. For me it is a necessity that we get a 7th dman, I fear it could ruin our season in the long run if we don't

Norton would most probably have matches when we need him though.

Personally, I think I would prefer us to invest in a spare import. It could be a waste if no imports are injured/ill, but I think i'd rather have the quality on stand-by than a npl-er just to make up the bodies.

Surely in this case he should/would not bother with any other team. However minor to the Panthers? Panthers are full time. Minors are part time But as I said 'however minor'...I know more would be wanted of him with us but assumed any attention to hockey means some training etc to warrent time that would not be committed to another interest.

I believe that the EPL train mainly at night and Panthers during the day (when Oakford would be expected to attend classes) I assume our guys on the sponsor courses get special arrangements made with the university/panthers.

There's a big difference between an MBA with a few hours formal teaching time a week and a teacher training course where you are expected to teach classes on placement as well as full-time study.

Oakford becomes a Tiger (Telford). The move had been in the works for 'weeks' and it was Oakford who got the cogs turning for the move to Telford.

Good luck to him. Doubt he'd have done that without speaking to Panthers first, so presumably we've had the same notice period.
Is the Maynard thing happening? And more importantly, is he any use?

I'd expect Maynard to have been informed of the signing and that as a result he won't be getting as much ice time, therefore being released from his contract. No fact about that, just an assumption. Personally i would be disappointed if we signed him, i know we need the additional body but he's 29 and pretty much a Career EPL'er, he won't be much use. I've seen people on Facebook discuss potentially giving Ollie Betteridge's little brother, Brad a shout as he's 18 and left shot, has small amounts of EPL experience but is too good for Juniors. Could be a great project player for Corey to develop.

This is supposedly professional sport,if imports can commit to doing degrees then I don't see a massive difference. Doing a postgrad degree and teacher training is a very different thing. The teacher training year is crazily intense.

For the ice time he got and his standing in the team,I would have thought he could have trained twice a week and still played for Panthers without it making much difference to either him or the team. What's he going to do at Telford then.....because apart from an end of season Scottish triple header and a couple of trips to Braehead/Belfast,he's probably got almost as much travelling playing for them in the EPL than he would have at Panthers !

I don't know. Well i do. Basically,by going to play his hockey at Telford,he could have stayed at Panthers, trained with us twice a week instead of four times......and it wouldn't have made a jot of difference to either him or Panthers !

He's a very smart guy, he wanted to get his future sorted whilst playing the sport he loves and the team he loves. No stupidity, just probably under-estimated the overall demand from his Course which i'm sure everyone in his position would do. If he trained 2 days a week it'd likely cause unrest in the locker room.. 'Why do we have to train 4 days a week and Sam only does 2?' 'If he's not doing it all, i'm not doing it all' etc.. And he stated it was either all or nothing, it'd have been unfair for him to take the team for a ride. Telford will only train a couple times a week, far less intensive so Sam can report to the training and games at the weekend without it having too much of an effect on his studies. Panthers train, generally, 4 days of the week excluding weekends. Up to 2 on-ice sessions and gym sessions each morning with team meetings likely to occur most days. The Monday's are practically their only day off and that's their recovery day. Learning and studying on that single day would be useless.

If we were talking a really important guy here then yes i could see your point. But we're not,we're talking a guy who plays a few minutes a game and already knows the systems. He could have stayed without it upsetting either anyone or his studies, especially so with Stevie Lee suffering his perpetual injury and leaving us short of Dmen.

We won't be getting Marcus Maynard - he's signed for Hull Pirates in the EPL.

So, when is Oakford leaving?
According to Panthers Official website the team for tomorrow v Storm is unchanged from last week. I take it by this that Lee isn't playing and Oakford is! Have I missed something?

Have I missed something? I thought the same actually but then checked the roster page and he isn't on there as far as I can see. I'm guessing once his Telford contract was signed, he was gone?

In the interview after the Coventry game GM said we'd seen him on the ice for the last time.
