well there was no way Green made 10 saves that First period, not sure where they get the shots on goal total from. not sure the Blaze had 14 shots in total the first two periods, unless they are counting anything in the general direction of the end boards

Coventry took us apart on Tuesday with Wiikman in the nets so it's hardly surprising that they were scoring for fun against a backup. Not Dan's fault as he is just a backup but the defending was laughable.
"Hey... Hey... Hey boss... Cory, why don't you call a time out? They just scored 4 and this could get really bad?"
"SHUT UP RICK! Can't you see all these people in here?? Someone is bound to be able to lip read you retard! Just wait until the first period break and I will do what I usually do... I will tell them that Gary is REALLY cross with them..."

Seems playing Wiikman injured has aggregated a minor strain. Rumour has it he'll be out for five to six weeks. Well done to all involved. If this turns out to be true someone needs a slap! Mika clearly hasnt been 100% for 3 or 4 weeks now. We should of had cover in already. P.s. Can someone please tell the Steelers fan that paid a witchdoctor to give us an injury curse after we won the league, thats its not funny anymore. In all seriousness though ive never seen a run of injuries like we've had over the last 3 seasons. Its been ridiculous.

I have by enlarge been a reader of thr cage with a sprinkling of posts. I tend to try and stick to facts in the most part rather than getting into opinionated debate. I quite often read comments and think there tends to be huge overeaction & a lot of synical waffle. Suddenly this last few days I find myself joining the club. I've read post after post of people calling for Corey out over a few seasons and always felt it unreasonable. Today I am happy to go on record as being in the Corey out camp. Don't dislike him, appreciate enourmously what he has done at Panthers but I think it looks like his time has come. Been around too long without a plan B. Too many other clubs no how to shut his team down and he doesn't have an answer. I've had my rants on other occasions regarding constant line changing(I thought we were whitnessing a miracle on ice tonight when we rolled the same lines for 2 periods. Then my dreams were ended when he started chopping and changing in the 3rd again) and this is what really gets my goat. We have had a hideous injury record since the GS season and i've tried to allow it to be an excuse but no more. He just refuses to let players build chemistry.
If he is going to go at the end of the season he may as well go now for me. At least see if somebody(Adey?) can just ignite this team for the second half and get us back in contention. I doon't see how it changes otherwise for me.
Of course I could speculate that Corey is banging NBs door down begging for injury cover but just having the door slammed in his face. If that is the case then I have huge sympathy for him and i'd maybe cut him some slack(still doesnt excuse the line rotation system). This frustrarion could easily filter into the players too. However I do not know what is the truth in regards to this and can only comment on what I see infront of my eyes. So much of what I am seeing can only really be laid at Coreys feet.
I truely hope he comes out and rams a huge slice of humble pie down my throat. I want him to be remembered for the great things he's done for the club and the legend he should be. If he does bring the league title then welcome back Corey. Anybody deserves to keep the job if they do that. 2 1/2 seasons of this Lunacy is too much(since the GS year, Ive dealt with general Panthers heartache for nearly 20 years).

Just to pick up one point from the post from Bagheera.
I also noticed that after the 2nd period comeback, coach genius then decided, yet again, to do his usual complete mix up of the lines. Anyone offer any thoughts as to why that was? What planet is he on? Words fail me.

Im exactly the same. Always been a big defender of Corey, wanted him to come back this season, but my patience has snapped. I wouldnt get rid of him mid season, that sloves nothing. But he got to work hard to win my support back now. Just give panthers fans the first line of forwards they deserve! Its funny how in the GS season that approuch actually worked.

One can only blame injuries for so long. The cause & responsibility still lie with the coach. He would have known the extent of the injuries, & have contingency plan. Clearly, that doesn't seem to be the case. The Panthers are becoming a joke, and the fault is not with the players as much as it is with the strategists. Unless he can come up with a different game plan, Corey has to go.

On the other hand I suppose all of those slating Chuck Weber earlier in the year are changing their minds too. A very ordinary team with an excellent netminder who is also a very good leader.

LoL. Not far off. Hey, the guy has won a lot of trophies but far too often we don't even come close in the league. He is now here out of convenience & loyalty rather than the best man for the job. I wouldn't even mind a Brad Moran type stepping up just for the remainder of the season to work with Rick. I don't like it long term but could work to galvanise the team to the end of the year.

For all the stick he gets Stewart is actually a fantastic goalie. The biggest factor being goaltending tonight between the 2 teams. You only have to look at what Weber did at Cov last year to see how good a coach he is. Their early season form was poor but they were always going to get better. Just look at where they sit in the confrence standings. As good as anyone.

That's why coaches love him.

I think Wiikman is the same tbf. He actually hates conceding goals and just look at the start to the season he had. He's a great NM just like Stewart.
All those calling for Corey I can see why but I think the problem is above him. 3 seasons we have had terrible injuries and we haven't had the cover that we deserve. Wether Corey is saying he don't need cover I don't know but seriously doubt it.
Why he changes lines so much I don't know but we weren't complaining at the start of the season.

I can asure you Kezzy. I was complaining. Maybe not so vocally on here. Just ask my group of friends. We were never smashing people convinsingly week in week out. To be honest the line swapping system has irritated me for so long it's consumed me somewhat when at games. It's so obvious it hinders the team.

What baffles me is that people on here actually think they know better than Neilson. His coaching may be good, bad, or indifferent, but come on do you guys really think you could do better.

Where did anyone say they either knew better or could do better than CN? As fans that put money in to the club coffers to help pay his wages, we're entitled to ask questions and offer opinions. Especially when performances/results are below par.

Oh the age old. You ain't a coach, never played the game BS. So therefor I can't commenr on anything. I have never run a sports team or owned my own business so I cant have an opinion on how the club is run.
I may not no how to coach players but almost every other coach in the world sticks to consistant lines but Corey. Thats enough evidence for me to justify my opinion. Why bother with a forum hey.
So next time you go into a shop and get bad service. Remind yourself that you havn't done that job so you cant possibly have an opinion as they must know better than you(apply to anything in life you havn't done yourself)

not saying Corey out but he needs his head shaking! Many things can be changed this season going into the new year, keep consistent lines, bring in injury cover, let Cam have free roam as and when he wants. Put and keep Kolnik with Moran. Leave Lacho to open the gate every night and get splinters as he's nothing compared to what he used to be.

Put it this way Pantherman66. If so many people, including his players can see the flaw of the lines switching then why can't he. Are you trying to tell us we are all wrong and only Corey is right ?
If Neilson can't do it coaching the Panthers, then god help him if he was coaching one of the small clubs with little money,he would win absolutely nothing.

Don't blame Green he wasn't that bad,but the difference in goalies cost us that game. Blame Panthers management for not bringing a replacement import netminder in three weeks ago. Chris Holt gets injured at Braehead and wham they get another import goalie here in about five days, one with very good stats too. Panthers battered Coventry for three periods tonight, even most of the first one,but distinctly average net minding along with poor defence cost us. I hear they are after Modig, however if I was him, after the way Panthers treated him last season i would tell them to get stuffed !!!! Modig, he's not played since last year, this would be a disaster as he'd need to time to get match fit, we don't have time!!!
