Well at least that evens up the conference/league system.....Braehead play less games than the southern conference teams.
I'd say that makes it about fair now !!!!

I wouldn't think this will come as a surprise to the league and pretty sure they will have a contingency plan in place already. Err, I mean, yeah probably... Well they have been part owned by other teams, helped by other teams and obviously they all know about the sponsorship loss and together with all of that the fans have voted with their feet over the years anyway.

Yeah but will they have done anything about it, or just be hoping it works out? They've always been very much reactive to stuff like this. Still no official word on the website, I'll be amazed if they've not been caught on the hop and are trying to work out what the official word is. Hull were still signing players at the beginning of the month so it must've gone south reasonably quickly.

Agreed - looking at the players they'd already signed, I don't think they saw this coming:- Hull Stingrays Coach: Omar Pacha - Re signed Assistant coach: Carl Lauzon - Re signed N/M David Brown - 2nd year of 2 year deal D Omar Pacha - Re signed D Yan Turcotte - 2nd year of 2 year deal D David Phillips From Belfast Giants (eihl) - (2 Year Deal) D Jamie Chilcott - Re signed F Carl Lauzon - Re signed F Matthew Davies - 2nd year of 3 year deal F Sam Towner - Re signed F Hugo Turcotte - From Niagara University (ncaa) F Brett Switzer - From Bentley Univesity (ncaa) F Grant Toulmin - From Heilbronner Falken (Germany 3) F Jeff Hayes - From Carleton Univ (cis) If they don't get bailed out and a team can't be found to replace them (meaning we're down to 9 teams), it will be interesting to see:- how the league/conference set-up works? how the challenge cup set-up works? how the season ticket games work? As others have said though, it has to be said that Hull were the biggest (undeserved) losers in the whole Conference set up.

Perhaps it will be the end of the conference system or perhaps there would have been plans for help but liquidation means that unless they are clearing the decks of debt and then something will happen but at some point the question of "viable" has to come up?

the only reason they kept going was because the ice time was free now that has changed its pushed them over the edge.

Just do the sums on the wages there and money coming in through the door from fans and I doubt that any type of sponsorship would get anywhere near the rest. The rest of the teams will take a hit on playing less home games *if* something else isn't in place. Getting involved in Europe and the arena teams supposedly moving more "professional" moving forwards they must have a list of teams at risk and have a plan for something.

Listening to the interview with McEwen, it sounds as though the players have an option to sign with another team and the league have been aware for a few weeks.
I know there is an ice rink just outside Manchester that currently has no senior team

Perhaps it will be the end of the conference system... Well, to me, that would be the tiny sliver of silver lining.

McEwan seems to think there will be some "very positive" announcements made by the league shortly, wonder what he means by that, as surely its too short notice for any team to join this season?

It came as a surprise to Dave Phillips:
I hope there's something lined up, but if their own players weren't even ITK that it was coming down the line, I'm not sure why the rest of the league would be.

Maybe an opportunity for the London franchise to bring their plans forward? If it's been known for sometime with the powers that be then wheel may have been in motion and a contingency put in place?

So no 10th team at this late stage how do you do the league, the fixture list should have been released in a few days time. All other teams would have booked ice times going with only 9 teams is an absolute nightmare scenario.

Apparently EIHL making an 'exciting announcement' later following the demise of Hull (according to Matt Davies of the Nottingham Post).
Manchester?

Aberdeen have been mentioned before and would nicely slot into the Gardiner conference. problem being is their 1100 capacity stadium, although i have seen its possibly being extended?
