I thought it was an enjoyable game that was,as previously mentioned, very evenly matched. I really enjoyed Ryan`s demolition of Cambell ,Clarkies goals were exellant, there were hits galore and a pretty good turn out to boot. Yes,I`m dissapointed we lost, but not surprised. We don`t have enough hunger and belief in ourselves to go the distance. We don`t lack in effort,it just seems that we,as a team, are quick to think the worst and resign ourselves to defeat. Tonights the first time that I`ve seen Rasto/Rasta and I`m not very impressed TBH.I thought he looked very ordinairy and gave away a lot of rebounds. I know our defence do tend to leave him high and dry,at times. But he didn`t look half as good or confident as Wolfe did down at the other end.If our man had of been between the pipes for the Mancs then IMO we would thrashed them.He wanders round more than Sundberg did and he`s going to get caught out in the end. All in all,i enjoyed the game and i`ve resigned myself to the fact that we are going to finish 5th or thereabouts.I don`t think we`ll make the Play-off finals(really hope we do,but can`t see it) and so I`m just enjoying the night out.

The worst thing for me is that I realy don't feel anything after this latest defeat, just apathy. My attitude was 'oh well'. 4 or 5 years ago I would have walked out the NIC with steam coming out of my ears after snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory (yet again). Really can't be bothered, a bit like the majority of our roster! Aint that the truth. Doesn't it feel like it just doesn't matter any more?

Can someone pleae enlighten me on the rules for having a 'Back up NM' on the bench.
I noticed that our announcer did not mention that Manchesters Matthew Compton was not icing. Should he have done that?
I thought all teams had to have one, obviously that is not the case. Anyone know the rules please.
Cheers

As far as I can recall, you do not have to have a back up NM. However should a goalie be required you have , I think 2 mins to dress an alternative from the bench otherwise you incur delay of game penalties.

Second worst performing force in the country but still find time to hide up someones driveway with a speed camera. Not to worry though, I'm sure those hockey fans whose cars were broke into around Snienton last night will understand. Back on topic. What the Panthers organization need to realize is they are perhaps for the first time in danger of losing supporters, supporters who after finding other things to do may not come back.

We gave up on away games in October. Its a shame because at that point we had only missed the Belfast away game at the start of the season.
I guess it does not filter through to the management though when you get loads of people coming without a ticket.
Its annoying that they keep delaying the face off as it sends out a signal that you dont really need to get there early to get tickets. I'm sure those people in the queue having turned up at 6.50 expecting to walk straight in would have been upset about not seeing Ryan's cull, and maybe would turn up earlier next time.

The game may have had 'emotion and passion' but the stark fact is that yet again we didn't win. Quite. And I still don't think there was any emotion and passion in the final few minutes. 'A point will do' is a really depressing thing to do when you're at home.

Having missed the home games against Cardiff on Boxing Day, Basingstoke (December 10) and Belfast (November 25), it's now three months to this very day since I last saw us win. The requests for me not to go anymore are increasing all the time.
Back to the game, I thought we played OK for the first half of the game but you need to play for sixty minutes if you want to win games in what is a pretty evenly matched league. Up in Sheffield just before Christmas, we only played for the first period and lost that too.
A big plus point for me was sticking Clarkie on the point on the powerplay and sticking Shmyr in front of the net. These pair playing on the same line with the slowly improving Petricko seemed to work well too.
The thing that annoyed me most was the way Tony Hand was allowed to just about run the show again. About 20 years ago, it appears he was granted the freedom of the city of Nottingham and has been allowed to skate around the city unchallenged ever since. I thought we finished our checks off pretty well last night but I can't remember Tony Hand being hit once. He was stood alone centre ice before making the pass for their short-handed second goal and there were numerous similar situations, including setting up a team mate in the first who missed an empty net. Surely, if you stop Tony Hand you stop Manchester to a certain extent.
Finally, back to this pretty evenly matched league we have this year. The race between every team bar Balfast, Coventry and Cardiff for the last five play-off places could be quite interesting. Anyone prepared to predict who's going to miss out.

Definitely feel apathetic this season.........just feel the extra effort and expense coming over from west of Derby for this team isn't worth it. I'm past the stage of feeling fed up when Panthers lose, just want to see decent hockey live but at the moment prefer to settle for NHL on the TV. Only been to see 5 home games ( 5 different visiting teams) and only have plans now for 4 more games so that I see each team once. Previously I've always seen over 20 home games in a season.

Just a bit.
At no point, even in the years of Uncle Nort have I felt that the club is as close to the brink as we are today.
Last nights game, on a Saturday night and a ST game to boot, attracted under 3000 fans. Speaks volumes to me............
Rumour has it Whis is on his way back, much as I would love to give Matty a year or so I fear that financial necessity will mean action will be taken. I have no doubt that on paper (where have I heard that before? LOL) this team has talent, just that for whatever reason a first year rookie coach can't get the best from them. There are again doubts floating around as to whether Matsos is even taking training any more.
One thing is clear, Bob will not tolerate taking losses, financially and otherwise, like last night for much longer.
You may be pleased to know that even the king of spin himself in no longer regarded as the voice of the people. After it was revealed last night by Bob that things we were explicitly told last year by Dave were rubbish, were in fact true.
For the first time ever that I can remember Dave Simms position at the club is coming under scrutiny by the fans.

You know what in all honesty i am sorry to hear that you guys are having these kind of problems. I did think yet again employing a rookie coach was risky but i would really be sorry to see you guys have to fold or anything of that magnitude!

Crowd at the NIC was at least 4,200 ish i would say, i am getting fed up of the game being delayed for 15 minutes every week because people havent got their tickets in time!
To the game was a very even game and for the most part i enjoyed it, the first ten mintues were scrappy and boring (with the exception of the fight of course after a minute), but then after Manc scored it opened up and Panthers were on fire! 2 fantastic goals from Clarkie, we looked like a team possesed!
2nd period started like the 1st finished but then got a bit scrappy again and Phoenix scored after a defensive error and megged Rasto short handed (i think it was SH anyway)
3rd period pretty even we scored one of the best goals i've seen all season short handed, Petriko checked hard a Manc player near pen box won the puck off him skated, passed to clarkie who put it through legs of Wolfe....fantastic!
You kinda sensed we were never going to win after Molin equalised, where was the marking? that rattled us and Manchester won in OT! Jan had a big game as did Clarke, im not that gutted to be honest, was a good evenings entertainment.
My newbie mate said 'are these two teams evenly matched because they are equally as good or as bad as each other?' question that got me thinking....

A surprisingly good crowd last night - 4400 or so at a guess? Perhaps occasional fans who came on Boxing Day returning for more of the same?
Not a bad game in terms of entertainment - the Elite League version of ZT was in full swing and Dave Cloutman kept the game flowing as a result.
As for Panthers, well, you really can't play without a defence but they just can't get their heads round the notion.
The return of Mike Rees seems to have unhinged the defence - I guess he's not match fit which helps explain him being out of position so often. The stabilizing effect of Ryan Shymr is being missed in defence.
That said, Shymr was impressive at times, particularly on that powerplay that lead to Clarke's first goal. He battled to keep the puck in the zone and alive, planted himself in front of the net, almost scored with a deflection in front then got the primary assist on the goal.
All of which made me think that Ryan is probably our most self disciplined player. He goes out to do a job and does it without fuss, whether it's screening the keeper, enforcing or defending and doesn't take unnecessary penalties whilst doing it. In fact he seems to have a very cool head. He really is turning out to be a very good signing.
In view of the number of goals we've shipped in the last 3 games I'd move Ryan back on D against Hull tonight and see if he can restore some much needed stability to the rearguard.

Shmyr seriously impressed me last night. The way he started the fight was great, he had a couple of niggles at Campbells heels when he saw him skate on to the ice. This rattled Campbell he did a little circle around his own zone before deciding to try and have a piece of Shmyr. That then led to a extra penalty against Campbell and a powerplay for us all due to Shmyr's little wind up. Then on the powerplay as well he did a great job battling to keep the puck in etc as has already been said. Hes hardly setting the scoreboard alight but he'd digging in and doing a very good job elsewhere both attacking and defending.
On the whole we weren't great last night but we were a lot better than we have been as of late. At times we were relentlessly appying pressure on them and we made it pay off a couple of times which is great to see.
Also thought its worth noting that the phoenix player Mangos really stood out for me last night. He seems very quick at breaking out and turning defence into attack and looks like a good player for manc.

I really enjoyed the game last night, apart from being obviously disappointed with the result!
Moran had a great fight, as did Shmyr. it just seems that half the team are just not motivated to win, like they cant turn it on when needs be... like overtime. some of them are working their asses off and some of them dont leave 2nd gear.
