Seems like Baldwin has grown some, as big as grape pips. Fata has found another big guy to pick on now Fox has gone, chased Jensen all over the ice trying to beat him up. Hewitt does a fantastic job to helf Fata, jumps Jensen from behind well hard. Spencer deserves an oscar, it's getting like football just lay there pretend to be dead go back to the bench and come out next shift, not forgetting the moaning that they do all game long. Oh well at least it wasn't as dull as last night.

From 'over there'...
Anyone else see any heads on the ice? Spencer tried to push his into the ice whilst turtling but apart from that.....

Even first, Panthers woeful in the second, overpowered the Steelers in the third. How did we lose to such a toothless team last night? All those powerplay minutes and just one goal to show for it. Much needed win, Francis is playing his best hockey this season and was good value for his hat-trick, while Conway deserved his man of the match award, solid as a rock tonight.

Tim (nice but dim) Spencer was a loose cannon all night!Big man chasing Lacho around the ice looking for a fight. I bet when he goes to bed tonight and he closes his eyes all he will see is Henley!!

Lol that whole guys post is ridiculous, Panthers are the worst things eever according to him. Needs to look at his own team. Hewitt did exactly the same as Henley yet not the same call, Fata was chasing people around (AGAIN) not caring about his own team, Baldwin was trying to go for Jensen all game. Yet he doesnt mention any of that ... strange. Jensen played it perfect wound up there whole team.

To give them an absolute shellacking given how short our defence ended up is highly amusing. I'd be very miffed if I was of the Yorkshire persuasion, they are terrible

That was a proper Toe to Toe Turtle fight I have seen for a while.
I thought Spencer was meant to be hard.

That third period is why I love this game. We had no right to win that. 2 d men kicked out, 2 5 minute majors to kill off and a point where Murray couldn't ice due to a busted face. But we dug deep, we played a blinder and came out with 2 points.

Anybody who thinks that the Hewitt incident was worse than Henley's needs to look at it again.
Henley destroyed Spencer and whilst I don't condone Spencer staying on the ice making out it was worse than it was, it looked to me like Spencer wasnt a willing competitor and Henley carried on for far too long. The ref had no choice but to throw him out and we were lucky it didn't backfire.
As for Hewitt, he had done a brilliant job of getting under our skin and it wasn't until Jensen reciprocated that it changed.
Panthers didn't win because they were a lot better, they won because they maintained better discipline after the third period.
Whilst it is great to hammer the steelers, this only papers over the cracks as we were woeful in the second period.

I think Jensen should get a special mention. He didn't put points on the board but his play was one of the main reasons we took them apart he got Baldwin, Fata and Hewitt off their game so much that they were abysmal in the 3rd period.
Got a feeling Henley will sit for 3 games however, if it is true that the game video shows spencer drop the gloves and throw the first punch then he might get away with just the one game.

How can you say spencer wasn't willing? He was offering everyone else out prior to line change, Henley comes on and wants to go with spencer, spencer punches him first so Henley fights back. It's how I saw it.
Getting a match penalty because big Doug said so was all that happened there, in fact Doug influenced hicks on more than just than one occasion.
Oh and makelas stick ended up on he Sheffield bench along with dowds, Hewitt took it off the kit man and snapped it deliberately, knowing it was one of our sticks. How childish.

But Jensen wasnt a willing competitor as you say Spencer wasn't so how is it different ? I agree though they were better and god knows how we won it ...

just home from the game, much better team performance tonight, thought we had lost it in the 2nd but great work from the lads, knew Henley would get kicked out but sounds like the wrong decision, thought the new guy was a lot better today

Well apparently Spencer threw the first punch and ended up on the floor with his gloves off. Jensen ended up on the floor still holding his stick with both gloves on. Very different events. Sounds like Spencer just lost a fight - that's all.

I thought Makela was better, but still took a particularly stupid penalty. "Sergeant Tim Spencer" as DS calls him in many ways got what he deserved. However both with the Henley incident and Hewitt one, with the man trapped on the ice and pumelling blows to head (this aint going to be popular) but there is a real risk of bad head damage. Fights standing up are one thing, but this was different. Well done Conway and Franny (I cannot see us holding on to him next season). Jensen must be wondering what he did, both with him being penalised after Fata did all sorts of stuff and after Hewitt tried to take his head off. Not an easy match to ref, but badly lacking in this area. The result came as a suprise after the second as we took far too many penalties, but the penalty kills were excellent.

I'd like to see a replay of the Henley thing, can't say I'm as confident that Spencer engaged first tbh.

If Spencer did engage first then I stand corrected, but it would surprise me if Spencer had been a chicken as he has fought Henley before. He offered nothing in return which makes me think it wasn't a fight they were both willing participants in.

Not been to a game or posted for a while. We have moved out of Notts so not as easy to get to games. But took some friends for their first Panthers match tonight and they loved it.
Have to say the shop has seriously improved.
Re the match - I thought the scoreline flattered us but the team showed great spirit and bottle and thoroughly deserved the win.
Spencer lying on the ice motionless. Now whether he was milking it to get our players sent off or not if he is a so called hard man he seriously embarrassed his fans IMO by the way he just lay there and he should have been embarrassed for the rest of the match as well.
Never seen so many penalties in one match either.

a lot of people saying we were woeful in first two periods but I thought it was a quality performance throughout. we played with real intensity especially after the Henley fight/beat down. I thought squealers played well as it was very evenly matched. we did well in the first and they edged the second. But we then came out in the third and destroyed them. for me it was by far the best performance and most entertaining game of the season so far.
P.S. Hicks was an embarrassment. his penalty calls for both teams were a joke. Someone tell me at what point did Jensen fight? He was pinned to the floor wasn't allowed to get up, his gloves never even came off

If Spencer did engage first then I stand corrected, but it would surprise me if Spencer had been a chicken as he has fought Henley before. He offered nothing in return which makes me think it wasn't a fight they were both willing participants in. This is what Owen Bradley, Panthers reporter for Radio Nottingham said on twitter: "Okay, so the Henley-Spencer incident, having watched the tape back: Henley comes off bench for line change, engages with Spencer. It's Spencer who gets the first jab in with gloves on but Henley clearly fancies it, shakes off the gloves, and starts throwing."
