I can't believe that they averaged 4,700 this year. Nope. Thats an interesting figure. They played quite a few games out of ice Shuff (not all sold out) , so they would have to have some pretty big crowds at the Tin Shed to average out at 4700. To my recollection apart from when we rolled into town, and the occasional game against a team in the same conference, those big crowds simply were not there. When they bothered to publish attendances it was regularly below 4000, so we can only presume that the free tickets they throw around like confetti had a role to play. But as Gary Moran has said in the past you can give out as many free tickest as you want, it doesnt help the bottom line financial viabillity of a club. HL Arena average = 4707 Ice Sheffield average = 1372 Overall average = 3824 (pointless but there it is) I honestly don't think you can mix the 2 though to create an average attendance. We played 9 games at IS and 25 at the arena. If Panthers for some inexplicable reason had to play on the 350 seat Olympic pad would you count that towards your average attendance? No you probably wouldn't. Of the 20 games against conference rivals played at the arena (all comps) 6 were under 4000. The average for the 6 (SIX) games against the Panthers was 6675, including 8122 on 27th Dec. The average for the 5 games against the Gardiner conference teams (all comps) at the arena was 4262.

Probably because the didn't have our attendance figures, because we should have been in the top 100. In either 94th or 68th depending on which figures you choose to use.

No, the simple fact is that people watching the Steelers in it's proper home at the HOS was an average of 4700.

Unless your not going to be competitive this year of course.

Look at the Panthers v Steelers head to head for this season and i think we were only 2 points better off. Steelers need to focus their attention beyond Panthers. Yes we were clearly the best team this year but if they concentrate all of their attention on us then watch out because there are no obvious 'gimmes' in this league like there may have been in previous seasons. The Scottish teams made massive inroads this season and long may that continue Big Doug has a big job on his hands

Oooh the Steelers think the new messiah has arrived, yet what has Christiansen ever actually achieved ? In five seasons as an EIHL coach he's won one trophy and that was with a team that most people agreed would have been a very expensive one and then he's also taken a lowly Caps team about one place above where they should have been........wow big deal !
As for the deal being done yesterday, thats cobblers it was sorted more than three weeks ago but they just didn't tell Finnerty.

Time will tell with DC. I suspect he hasn't impressed too many of the existing players with his major change comment and then his they have some great players that I would love to have comment .

That's awful, I wonder if Finner got wind of it, and even if they had won the challenge cup they would have still gassed him. He's best off out of it then.

Steelers will definitely improve on the previous two seasons that's for sure under DC but I can't see it happening at the pace Steelers fans want it to happen.
He needs to hit the ground running, if they don't start next season well then attendances could well be back to where they were a few seasons ago(although they haven't improved THAT much anyway). They can be pretty fickle up there when it comes to buying tickets.
Big season for them coming up.
