people seem to be darkly hinting at his return, is there anything concrete? him tweeting he is packing his bags? has he even signed anywhere? would be nice to have him back though
Mod edit - title altered now his return is confirmed.

As far as I'm aware he signed for us last tuesday and it's just not been announced yet, although I'll believe it when I see it!

Is he the type of the D-man you need though?

I'm with Jester on this one. Lepine is the easy option. Fans respect and love home. He's relatively tough but IMO would contribute little to our poor defensive capabilities. If the calibre was brought in during the summer there would be no need of a return from Lepine.

He would be the toughest man in this league can see anyone bar Olson/eagner even wanting to challenge him!

Lepine is an asset to any team in this league, he is by far one of the toughest D-men and also has improved his game from when he first came over to Nottingham. Ok maybe he isnt the direct answer but it would be a start, he knows the league, arenas, fans and I for 1 would welcome him back.

And if he "fails to live upto what you had before" he will get slaughtered on here. I dont recall Lepine fighting anyone from the Giants last year, and that didnt change the results?

We don't want him in to fight and sit in the box, we want him in to give us a physical presence that will make guys on the other teams think twice about trying to push us around.

Lepine fought Hoffman last year i believe at the 'O' or was that the year before? Year befor. He didnt need to fight Belfast last year Keefe and Lloyd kept their distance. Lepine had 8 fights last year 5 were against Jurynec, one against King, one against Frank and one v Rebek, he spent 158 minutes in the box. This year there are a lot more tough guys in the EIHL ergo he will fight more and spend more time in the box. Do you want your No 1 D man in the box that much? I dont buy this no-one will hit our players gump that people roll out, all the tough guys will fight each other even if they know they are going to lose, thats their job. Id rather have a forward tough guy rather than a D man as the EIHL teams dont carry enough D men, to make it worth the trade off. .

If Lepine returning is true, I fear it may just be away of distracting fans from the poor start. Yes, I think Lepine would aid the team as it is, but I feel that our problems go deeper than that and this reminds me too much of when we brought back an unfit, un-game ready Sean McAslan.

For all he lost his cool a little during a game in Whitley Bay, I rate Lepine. He doesn't go about trying to be fancy, he just tries his best to do the job he's been given - DEFEND. The fact his style of play is physical and there's more tough guys in the league this year may see him take some penalties, but overall (red mist in whitley bay aside) he seems to be quite composed and not one of these players to take dumb minor penalties.
I think it may be called an easy option, but what's the problem with that if it works?

I really dont see what is not to like about him returning.
He is a proven and good dman and enforcer at this level, he knows the players he knows the rinks and he knows how we play.
He doesnt take silly needless penalties at crucial times and will make sure that players like Fox, Clarke, Ling etc can play the game they do with the backup they need.
If he were to sign for one of our rivals im sure that most people would be slagging the management off left right and centre for not re-signing him.
If Lepine hadnt got high expectations on trying to land an AHL spot back home he would have been re-signed during the off season and i very much doubt that anyone would be questioning that signing. If Lepine returns i bet we see a very different Ling and Fox with him behind them.

How is making changes a distraction? Its a positive action surely?! Also, Lepine isnt an unfit, out of practise replacement like McAslan was, Lepine was hoping to get an AHL slot this year and if it wernt for the lockout he likely would have. He will help to shore up the back, add a sensible toughness and hopefully the forwards will gel.
