Fyfe should be absolutely fine. It was an establishment season 2011-12 and I understand that their owner has adequte resources. They seem to be sorting out a deal with assistant Danny Stewart at present and I am not sure of the position of Todd after the events of this season. Hull have a problem with regard to new ownership - see the thread on that. They wont be able to do much until that is sorted out.

Happy with that Phillips and Towe for Dowd. I wouldnt be you have swapped one of the best brits in the country last season to two average brits this... doesnt seem a good swap to me...

And Lyle leaves the EIHL to join EPL Basingstoke Bisons. Who saw that one coming?

Not that you had a choice with Dowd wanting to leave, but I wouldn't be happy with that swap either. The general perception is that Phillips is over rated and Towe is..... ok (from what I remember of him at Cardiff anyway).

Almost impossible to replace dowd with another brit he was just too good, maybe the best they could have hoped for with the two new guys.

We didnt swap Dowd he signed elsewhere, the point is we have picked up two good players, for the one spot vacated by Dowd.

So effectively then you did swap dowd? I would say more competent than good but each to their own...

We didnt swap Dowd he signed elsewhere, the point is we have picked up two good players, for the one spot vacated by Dowd. Who are you trying to convince, Jester - us or yourself? If the Giants are very, very lucky (as in - if both Phillips & Towe do really well) you might replace the production of Dowd... but will still have taken 2 roster slots to do it rather than one (I know that matters less with British players, but even so). Towe has good potential, no question - but will he fulfil that potential? Seemed like a decent playmaker in the EPL (16+61 & 10+31 in the past 2 years for Guildford) but will he manage that in the EIHL - let alone achieve even half of Dowd's figures? And Phillips... well, somewhat variable to say the least. Remembering that Dowd was 2nd highest British goalscorer (and 7th highest overall goalscorer) in the EIHL last season, and was the top points scorer (and equal top goalscorer) in GB's group at the Worlds last month. Unless both Towe and Phillips are on afterburners all nest season, they're not likely to come even close to his production. Spin it all you like, but it looks very much like Giants have lost out here big-time.
