Ignoring his stats, it does give a statement of intent of how to win the league. Belfast have 5 import D, Sheffield 5,(ignoring Sarich but including new man), Panthers 3. You have to restrict the number of goals the opposition score to make your team mates task of winning easier. I believe we have lost 5 games by 1 goal in regulation, 1 in OT and 1 on a shoot out. Just think what a few goals not conceded could have done for our results and points total. We have the best NM in the league but fail to back him up with at least 4 import D. Heres hoping GM/CN have a surprise D man signing this week, but not holding my breath.

For me, I would be more surprised if we do not make an extra D signing! From the interview after signing McAslan and Ryhanen they said there could be more signings if the right players were up for grabs. I still think they will find one. Really could with with that signing being here for the saturday trip to Belfast.

Despite everything, despite all the evidence, despite Rick coming on board and despite signing a roster of grafters rather than superstars we've still missed the one fundamental point of all - defence wins championships. My honest view is that they thought K-wall was good enough to soak it up. That he, in effect, would negate the need for the additional attention on defence.

We should have signed one at th start of the season. Too little too late, how's anyone going to fit in between now and Saturday???

Even Thommo, the owner / coach who was apparently going to have to wrap it all up if he didn't raise an extra £2.50 is looking to invest in extra players. wow!

Without injuries, juggling your players week in week out leads to unrest and constant changing of lines. Lets hope it has an adverse affect on Steelers. Totally agree. It must be a headache for players, whether on forward lines or D pairings, to have to accept new additions to their lines so advanced into a season. By now you'd expect lines to be reasonably settled, but with new guys joining the roster that balance and chemistry which develops over a season gets lost. I don't mind lines being changed up if injuries start to bite. But to voluntarily chop and change and lose any cohesion you might have gained outweighs the benefits of keeping your guys fresh throughout the run-in in my opinion.

I'm not feeling any love for Duff(man) maybe it's because it's been sprung upon us, but after the defensive leaks prior to Christmas, the team have really tightened up at the back, and have only conceded 9 in the last 5, compared to 22 in the previous 5, and they haven't lost a game since nightmare on Parliament Street.

Stephenson is injured now, which will be a blow to them. I guess the ones likely to be dropped will still have to play.

That does include games against Edinburgh, Dundee and Fife though, I don't think Trudel or Birnstill could get away with the way they were both attempting to play as forwards for large parts of the games against a Belfast or Nottingham.

I would have thought Birnstill would be the one to make way for Duff. Saying that tho with these massive 50/50 sales who's to say they need to get rid of anyone.

Oh sorry i forgot it the companies that you dont pay during the season befor going pop and leaving them up the creak. Im sorry but 50/50 sales do not pay all the costs (flights, houses, tranfer costs etc) for 2 extra players.

I'm going to stop paying for someone to come and collect the manure from our horses and hire a trailer to bring it down to you lot as there seems to be no limit to the amount of it you will swallow!

Panthers Org are missing a trick on our 50/50 sales and poor selection of merchandise offerings. Also, whilst we get decent crowds in week in, week out, outside of steelers games we still have 1500+seats lying empty which GM and co should be looking to fill. I suppose it could be argued that increased revenue will not transgress to the team we put on ice, with MrB lining his pockets further. Even so, i'd like to see a packed out arena for most games, not just 3, and would like more options in the shop. GM has his plaudits for running a stable-ship but we are not fulfilling our potential imo.

Do you really think that they arnt trying to fill them. I really dont see what else they can do to fill these seats, its not as tho they dont publicise the club enough is it.

From what i can see average numbers for 2010-11 were 4766 and so far this year its 4565 (-4%). Clearly Panthers org are not in isolation and there is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now but nummbers are going backwards a little at the mo. Do you think we are doing everything within our means and maximising our potential?

We still have 2 game against Belfast, 1 against Sheffield 1 against Coventry and a challenge cup final game to come aswel as 6 others. This will have a big swing on the attendance and percentage esp the 3 games against belf and sheff

Steelers 50-50 is a very good income generator, although its not really 50-50 as it some of the prize is put up by sponsors (allegedly).
I think its a good idea, as more people will buy tickets as the prize fund increases over the night. It's like people buying Euromillions when the jackpot is bigger, but not bothering with the smaller amounts.

Well as the season has gone on, the club have been able to bring in new sponsors under the new regime, with a couple more this week, so hopefully this is helping to account for the money to bring in these new players.
